The people who are not up to date on product refresh cycles are the same people who don't need to have the latest and greatest devices out there. If my mom bought an iPad I don't think she's going to care that a new model came out with more RAM and a gyroscope.

do we know it has more ram?

That's really good of Apple, they generally do the right thing. I bet prices for used iPads are taking a hit on eBay.

Why not just return it and get the iPad 2 for the exact same price?

I would just return it,,, but i guess it's because people don't know (or care?) too much about what the difference is ...

I guess it's a little bit like if I bought a 2010 Camry and a 2011 model comes out a week later, so Toyota offers my 20% of my money back. (or whatever the price difference is)

Not really a good move, more a smart one.

Those in the 14 day could've just returned for a full refund.

It's funny to think people still exist whom buy without research.

And those people probably think it's funny a group of people go to a website everyday, to read gossip about one company.

Just goes to show how disconnected some of us posters are with the mass consumers ... we argue about minute technology details and predict how a product will fail or succeed, based on these details. When the average consumer really don't even remotely know or care about these things.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_2_1 like Mac OS X; pt-pt) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8C148 Safari/6533.18.5)

Anyone know if this applies to non Mac store bought iPads ? In Europe ?

You've never bought a shirt without researching what new designs are coming down the pipe? How about a blender? Microwave oven?

Some people just buy what they need at the time because the object, at that time, suits there needs. How funny is that?

Apple is one of very few companies that would do this. Car companies would never. Furniture, clothing, etc. would never. Only technological gadget makers would even think of having a policy like this. And even then, it's rare.

Isn't it about time now for MacRumors to add an actual iPad Tab ?

There is already an existing iPhone Tab why no iPad Tab as well...

They should have a Mac tab and an iOS Tab. To help people sort out the news that they want to see. I appreciate all products but there are times I'd like to see everything other than iOS related news.

Well this would be good news for a lot of people. Then again, there were some people who bought iPad 1 two weeks before the announcement so they could return them for the 2..

Agree completely. Whenever I talk to someone whose considering an iPhone and I tell them to wait for the iPhone (insert next gen number here) they always say "Oh are they going to make a new one? When does that come out?"

"IN JUNE, YOU IDIOT!" I shout in my head, though my lips say something more like "Yep, every year ... every June, for the rest of our lives."

Most people don't know when something came out or how long the refresh cycle is. Most people don't really even care.

HA HA :D I'm the same, its been the same since 2008 people really should know by now. I also think that it doesn't really matter if you buy something and it gets updated soon after, because at the end of the day everything is outdated as soon as you buy it anyway as there is always the next one in the pipeline, so when the iPad 2 ships thats already obsolete as Apple will be hard at work on the iPad 3, well thats how I see it. If you wait for the next thing in the tech industry you'd always be waiting.

I also don't get some people constantly going on about Apple updating there product lines "hello some manufacturers update there stuff way faster than Apple like Dell etc" Apple's product cycles are generally easy enough to predict its just what the next version has thats hard to predict.

Yet, lots of those same people go to websites or other meeting places every day for a particular car company, pro sports team, etc. It's always interesting to see those limited in scope enough to think the world revolves around their own interests.
Forget refund, I would return completely.
Don't they have a restocking fee?

except that everyone knows that most new models come out in the fall, every dealer will tell you when they can sell them and car companies will offer 0% financing which is the same thing as a discount
