The policy is obviously in place to simplify things for both Apple and its customers, as customers could return their original purchase within the 14-day window and repurchase a new one at the lower price.

The quote in the article says that you must contact Apple within 14 calendar days of the price change, so this could actually extend the time you can get the refund by upto 13 days.

e.g. someone buys an iPad, 13 days later Apple reduce the cost. The customer now has 14 days to get the price difference back, but only one day to return the product.

And those people probably think it's funny a group of people go to a website everyday, to read gossip about one company.

EXACTLY!!! Most of my friends are fairly knowledgeable when it comes to tech but none of them understand why I would care to read about what Apple does. They think I should just be 'surprised' when a new product is released, not drooling over any info I can get. To each his own I guess.

My mother-in-law just bought an ipad last week, never said a word to me about it. I called her to tell her about this, but I doubt she'll be bothered to figure it out, let alone return it for the new version. Some people just don't care about these things and can't be bothered. I know, I don't get it either.

Same with my father-in-law. He bought the iPad about a month ago and I told him to return it ASAP. Well, that never happened. He just didn't care. :p

Your father-in-law didn't take your advice? Is this the guy whose daughter, who he's raised from an infant, decided to leave him and move in with you, to whom you do sexytimeunspeakablethings to three times a week (the daughter, not the father-in-law), who hears you bellow "ASAP" about some minor techno-gadget he's just bought? That guy?

The deadline is technically Feb 16th (14 days before the announcement).

I purchased 3 iPads from the local apple store for a business (I had no choice) on the 15th. I called and the manager said she would give me the $100 refund as long as I bring in the receipt.

"Stella" is often a female name.

Wow, apple is totally spoiling their customers.

Or avoiding a lawsuit. Cause if they didn't match the drop someone would be pissed enough to complain.

The site is in need of an overhaul though. The front end feels very clunky and dated (I say this as a professional web developer). IMO the homepage needs more interactivity. It should consolidate a grid showing the latest news by product type!

Well I don't know about the whole grid thing but it needs something. It is a total mess. Especially with the iPhone section having a totally different format. Even a mid level designer knows that is bobo. Putting the full entry on the front page and then repeating it in full in the thread is a waste.

I myself would dump the tabs and just make one section. Or if you like, keep them but have them linked to article keywords like blogger, wordless etc do. Then you sort out Mac, Mac OS, ipone, ipod, ipad, ios etc easily. On the front page put either the lead or a quick summary and link it to he thread for the full details.
