All I want is my $99 for the extra storage I bought but am not using. I needed 25GB of space, but now that it's 20GB why did I pay for 30GB (and now 60GB!)

haha.

I chatted with customer support. I told them i was really mad about the lost emails and that i deserved some sort of "compensation."
She gave me an activation key. For a FREE freaking year. I was still in the trial.
:)))))))

What is the email to mobile me support? Im on hold at the apple store now and even they dont know the email, chat is a fing 45 minute wait, there is no sign of the email on the help page.
I was effected by the mobile me outage in a huge way. I think I more than deserve the extra year TIA

Gosh, What do you want a lifetime subscription and a Mac Pro?

Hmm, I need some advice.
I mailed a hand written letter to Cupertino and an executive relations person called me to see how things were going. He gave me his direct number and told me that if i ever needed anything else, just to give him a call.

Here's where I need help... should I call and ask for compensation since I was without e-mail for 7 days?

mobileme, what an ironic name!

Since they change my mac to me, I had to change places where i was looking my mail, not supported browser, I can't use my usual browser in my Macbook (flock).
I tried to contact support, it took me ages to find how to ask a question, its all design for you to get lost, with empty pre answered useless topics!
then two weeks later got a, sorry we have so many "interest in Mobileme we can't answer yet, now a month later, still nothing.

That Mobileme is made for iphone user only, if you don't have one you dead, I try to remember why i choose to pay for an email account, when there is tons of good product free around!
It really pissing me out that now I can't access from my coffe places due to their browser, that i need to use safari when flock is so much better, just to read my mail!

Definitely! I doubt they will give it unless you ask.

If I was out of email for 7 days I would lose so much business.. Can't even begin to think

I emailed them (from my gmail account obviously) on days 3, 4 and 5 I think asking that they refund and cancel my account, but they couldn't be bothered with any decent customer service.

I contacted Apple through the MobileMe support contact form with a request for cancellation and refund, and they got back to me after a week. Two or three days later I was refunded the whole amount. Give it another try!

That's ridiculous. People who lost their data because of MobileMe should get a full refund, no questions asked. If I were in the situation and Apple offered me more pain for another year I would feel insulted.

How do you know that they are denying refunds for those who ask. This story just says that they are offering a free year for those who ask. It doesn't say they are not offering refunds for those who ask for that.

.Mac sucked, and there are still problems with my MobileMe. But when I talked with Customer Relations, they tried hard to resolve things.

I don't have an iPhone and I have MobileMe.

There reasons why Safari and Firefox are the two main browsers supported - although you could argue that Apple should offer access to Mail through an alternative web address for older browsers.

People who lost their data should've backed up.

And what about those who followed Apples recommendation to use their iDisk for backup>

The transition went smooth for me. But I am not able to create a local copy of my iDisk. When I try to, the sync process fills up my entire free disk space. (>80GB)

Klaxons2012,

You don't understand the situation at all.
MobileMe IS the backup. And you can't backup MobileMe.

If Apple doesn't solve the problem, free year offering means nothing.

I chatted but didn't get a year

I was affected by the outage and just chatted with MobileMe support to ask about it. I'm not sure how anyone else got the year. Before my chat window opened, the question I sent basically mentioned that I was affected by the outage and was surprised that no form of compensation had been offered to people like me yet, but that today I read that some people were reserving some free extensions. I did NOT specify that I had read that it was a year. Here's a copy of my chat transcript:

info: Hi, my name is Jeremy. Welcome to Apple!
ME: Did you get my original question or do I need to retype?
Jeremy: Hi XXXXX, I've just now read it.
Jeremy: We can't comment on rumors, but a 30 day extension of service is being given to those who are eligible.
ME: oh. strange cause reports have been that it's a year
Jeremy: It looks like you are definitely eligible for the 30 day extension. Those extensions are being applied presently.
ME: ok ... so I don't need to do anything.
Jeremy: No, that will be applied automatically to your account.
ME: alright. thanks
ME: that's all I wanted to inquire about
Jeremy: Thank you for your patience throughout this ordeal XXXXX.
Jeremy: You're welcome. Have a great day.
ME: yeah, the apologies don't really hold water for me, honestly. I've been a loyal apple user for 25 years and the response and updates and service during this time has been inexcusable. I'm actually tired of the Apple apologies. This was handled horribly.
********
That's it. I closed the window. I didn't want another "sorry for the inconvenience."

I had e-mail service go on and off a couple times over the last month, but not for too extended a time period. To me that's not enough to be worth complaining about and justifying a full free year of service.

But I do want the 1 free month extension theyu promised to everyone using .Mac/MobileMe. Still waiting. And waiting. And waiting. Has anyone seen that come thru yet?

when i chatted with a rep he tried to explain that getting a year of free service was just a rumor.

after explaining that my account was effected and it was quite an inconvenience to not have email and to have lost emails, he promptly offered me a free year.

and to top it off, i was still in my free trial period.

so just say you missed emails and stuff and they should give you a year

I still think that 1% means 99% affected and 1% unaffected.

I was one of the 99% who were not affected by the email outage. I did have synching issues during that time, but they all resolved themselves very, very quickly, except for the Bookmarks error about database integrity that comes up every time I sync...

Oh, and I thought that family pack members (other than the key person or whatever) were supposed to be upgraded to 10GB? All of the other people in my family are still stuck at a whopping 5GB!

Other than that, I think MobileMe is a wonderful service, and I hope they keep improving it and adding features quickly.

I wasn't affected, simply not happy with the new service, and I was given a full refund(not pro-rated), no questions asked. I suppose the same would hold true to affected users.

They need to make it free for everyone. Forever. Period.

GMail's services are all free. With 18 billion in cash lying around, they don't need to charge for this service. They should refund everyone who has been affected and just pull the plug on the $$$$ model and give it away. And obviously charging for something they don't yet even have a full grasp of (admitted by Jobs) is kind of insulting.

i saw this article, so i somewhat jokingly started a support chat for mobileme (even though i didn't have problems with email). I was like, what the heck, i have nothing to lose. My only problem was tons of issues with iWeb publishing.

The first person i talked too told me that she couldn't help me with any of my issues, but a supervisor could. So i was passed on to the supervisor, and they proceeded to give me an extra 5GB's of iDisk Storage for 3 years. All because of iWeb publishing issues? I honestly wasn't expecting them to give me anything. I figure they have so many people that are asking for help and compensation that they just give away stuff to make them shut up so they can focus on other more important stuff.

And Flock!, a web2 browser, any reason why mobileme can't support it!
any mail, specially a paying one, should be available from any platform, web browser! this is a minimum!
really don't like the new one

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 2_0_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/5B108 Safari/525.20)

gee, who is the lucky of unlucky, oh well I do backup my mailbox, or people may use time machine to recover their mail back~

Apple's MobileMe email outage affected approximately 1% of .Mac/MobileMe customers and involved some loss of email data surrounding the incident.
Was it an oversight or on purpose you didn't preface the above with "According to Apple"?

Anyone know where to email (I'm in UK) to register my complaint? I don't wanna miss out on my well deserved compensation for being a "1%er!"

Just got an email with a code for a years mobile me.

So, if I put it in now will I get an extra 365 days on my account or will it expire a year from now? Hmmmm....
