Good guy Apple? Not quite. Cheaper for Apple to refund than settle the class action suit. ;)

Apple is not a non-profit—stop feeling sorry for it. It's very much driven by profits.

I bought Seasons 1-4 when they had them on sale last year.
Then I figured I might as well buy 5.. caved and bought 5.2 as well, thinking it would take awhile to be resolved.

Haven't received my code yet. Anyone else still waiting?

I'm waiting and I'm looking forward to it.

Lawsuit!?!? Really!?!?!

What kind of looser puts a lawsuit together over this kind of problem!?? What a waste of everyone's time including mine for having to read that someone was suing Apple because they lost out on what... $12?!?!? Everyone on this forum is now dumber for having listened to this story.

I can only imagine the plaintiff pacing around in their apartment thinking of diabolical ways to get back at Apple for their massively devastating loss.

It only shows what a pathetic waste of life this person is and what kind of country we live in. Wasting tax payers money to get their couple of bucks back.

If I were the judge I would throw my gavel at the plaintiffs face. I award you no points and may God have mercy on your soul!

Did people really expect to get a full season for $15/23?

Apple is being nice, and I'm just mad I couldnt get in on this.

I had bought both 5.1 & 5.2. Haven't received the email yet, but then I never expected to be reimbursed.

I paid for it, and I wish they wouldn't have caved. This isn't Apple's fault. This is how AMC marketed and sold the show...and now Apple is footing the bill because of a bunch of indignant freeloaders. No one else offers season 5 as a whole.

Apple just bought everyone (who bought this) a season of Breaking Bad. I suppose I'll get a credit even though I don't expect it.

**edit...I see, I just don't have to redeem the code. Cool. Fair is fair, and I paid for what I expected. I'm not going to take money out of their pockets.

If Apple can prove that the titling is not their choice (which it appears that it is and they might not have control over), they might have a valid defense. Especially if they can show that there is not a stated definition that legally defines how long a "season" actually is.
What's to prove? They're a store that sells content… provided… by content providers. They don't write any promotional copy or product descriptions any more than they write the show.

I disagree. The fact is that Apple has become a platform for everything. It's easier to register discontent with Apple and let their actions propagate good will across the nation. Their reaction will reverberate across every TV and PC ad nausiem.

While this was done by AMC and not Apple, I still don't understand the bitching and moaning. The seasons are priced appropriately I feel. Each "season" had less episodes, therefore had a lower price at 22 dollars.
But if you do the math, the two half seasons cost about $8 more than the previous seasons do on iTunes. When "Season 5" went up with no indication that it was only the first half for $22 — about $5 LESS than the previous seasons — I was like, "Hey, what a great deal!" But no, I was actually getting gouged for an additional $8 without knowing it yet.

That's why I was annoyed about it — with AMC.

I don't think there's any sane way of looking at a full refund as anything other than above and beyond good customer service on Apple's part.

I need to start watching this show.
It's terrific. While I thought the first couple of seasons were good-not-great, in season 3, it kicked into overdrive and never let up.

Disagree? What can you disagree with?... What happened to calling when you have a problem until you reach a the customer service representative's manager? Then the manager's manager? Until you get your personal problem solved?

You don't get my point... The lawsuit is weak, it represents a weakness this country has. It is a pathetic "make me money" frivolous lawsuit. The judge would throw this garbage out regardless of whether it was a right or wrong issue. The plaintiff is easily described: Someone who's mommy has done everything for them their entire life and when they don't get their way they call mommy, or in this case, their lawyer.

I don't care if Apple/AMC was in the wrong here, or if they were ok in doing what they did, or if their response was proper and in good faith... What I do care about is this looser posting up a lawsuit over their loss of an incredibly small amount of money. What a waste of taxpayer's money!

This is a very pleasant surprise. The $22.99 are back in my iTunes account :) All in all I cannot complain. Apple has treated me very generously this time.

It's definitely not marked as such anywhere. Season 1 is the first 7 episodes and is $15. Then for 13ish episodes, S2 is $25, S3 and S4 are $30, S5 (part 1 as we know) is $22. "The Final Season" is also $22. Can we say MONEY GRAB? No wonder AMC got priced out of my Dish Network package.

I agree that Apple is smart to be the good customer service company even though it's not really at fault. But this kind of tricky crap needs to stop. Deadliest Catch did this a while back with "volumes" after a few "seasons."

Tomorrow, we will talk about the completely separate "deluxe editions" that are in no way upgradable if you were crazy enough to click "Buy Season" for the regular one. I bought the "regular" copy of "The Hobbit" when it came out. Now there's an extended one with extra footage and stuff, and you gotta buy the whole thing instead of upgrading. Guh.

In the case of The Hobbit, this is how every DVD release in the series was and is. This is a completely different title on shelves and probably shouldn't be upgradeable - it's not an "iTunes Deluxe" version or something.

----------

Why? You only paid for a half season, not a full season. Apple owes you nothing.

It was advertised as including the entire finale of Breaking Bad in May of 2012. If you take the time to go back and read before accusing people of asking for something they don't deserve, you will understand.

----------

This is another win for the people who can't read and whine like little babies. Congrats guys!

How ironic, maybe you can't read?

----------

No, you really don't. It's trite garbage. But good on Apple for making this move.

It's one thing to not like the show but you really have to have a strong bias against it to even attempt to call it trite garbage.

That's a waste of taxpayer's money? Giving citizens that were actually misled a chance to try their case? The real waste of taxpayer money was on phonetic spelling in public schools...now nobody in this country under 30 can spell lose or loser.

Why did people think they were going to get to watch the entire season when the 2nd half wasn't even on TV yet? I think it's crap how AMC labeled their season, there was a year breaK in between and should have just called it season 6 to avoid confusion. But I'm sure the contracts were written for 5 seasons or whatever.

Two possibilities you have no idea what trite means or you have never watched Breaking Bad...

To be clear you are entitled to your opinion. You can call the show garbage, if that is what you believe. There is just not a definition of trite that can be logically applied to the show Breaking Bad.

You're goddamn right I want my refund.

AMC appears to be the greedy party in this case; Apple did the right thing here, potentially saving themselves a lot of unneeded headache, as well as fostering some more goodwill with their iTunes customers.

They may very well have some legal recourse against AMC, but I doubt they'll go there. They'll absorb this relatively small amount, and will be more diligent with future season designations by content owners/creators.

When you buy a season pass, it says you're buying all current and future episodes. There is zero indication how many you will eventually actually get.
