I got the full refund and I didn't buy the season pass, I cant afford to. I just bought each episode individually. Complete my season says I can buy the season for about $2.00 now with one episode left. I redeemed my code and got the full credit on my account.

Thanks for the info. I purchased it originally back in like October but hadnt received any email so I thought it might be for those who paid twice.

Thinking you were getting 16 episodes in HD for $23. Yeah, great math skills. Apple just decided THIS ONE TIME to give such a big discount on a show.
Sales happen, you know. Errors happen, too — I got all seven Harry Potter movies for under $20 from Apple one day, almost certainly due to an error. Snapped that **** up quick (even though I don't even like 1, 2, or 4), the price changed two hours later, and they're still in my movie library.

Whatever the case, the product description should have been clear.

As is, AMC decided THIS ONE TIME to charge $8 more for the two halves of the season. Neither scenario make much sense for the consumer to assume when there is NOTHING to indicate the second half wasn't being included in the product description.

Well it seems AMC is the only winner here. Apple gets the bad press for AMC's decision, and nobody is trying to sue them.

Hollywood wins again!

Just wanted to add my two cents.

1) Silly AMC for the confusing marketing it did around re-defining what a "Season" is. Sad really because if you are a fan of the show and have made it through four seasons, AMC could have charged a heavy premium for every episode ($4.99 an episode) and I would have been more than happy to pay it. The show is that good.

2) Kudos for Apple for doing what it did. They are the managers of this new paradigm for distribution and "Season Pass" is one way of promoting to its customers getting everything that is included in a 'Season'. Season Pass is their 'brand' and AMC abused it - intentionally or not. Apple making right with its customers for a "Season Pass" is great idea.

3) I bet Apple will learn from it when dealing with how producers market new "Season Passes".

4) As for who takes the financial hit on this, I am sure Apple and AMC will comes to terms with that.

5) I will use the credit to buy The Walking dead, so... really a wash for AMC. (but boy I hope that show steps it up because its meandering just like the zombies in it.)

Does this mean we will see a second lawsuit headed by the government for giving away the entire 5th season of breaking bad for $22 while Amazon sold it for full price?

This year's episodes are censored anyway...don't give iTunes a dime for this garbage. Unbelievable that they get away with not labelling these as "Clean" versions or whatever. I expect another lawsuit coming soon.

What's the deal with this? I noticed a blatant F-bomb muted while watching this last night. Why is this censored?

You don't seriously think the legal process works that quickly… in America?

The class action lawsuit didn't get to court yet. Apple's lawyers probably crunched some numbers and said, "You know what? Give them refunds, look at it as PR, and it'll probably cost you about the same in the long run."

Don't you think that was my point? That it wasn't Apple being "nice" per se as much as it was a way to avoid the litigation or a negative verdict?

The first time that happened was for season six of South Park. At the time I bought the season pass, the iTunes Store clearly stated "all episodes of season six". Which was later changed to "all episodes of season six a, lol, sucker." Many people raised a stink about this and we all received the second half of the season as promised when we purchased the season pass.

Like some, when I purchase items from the iTunes Store, my State requires Apple to charge me a tax. When I purchased BB for $22.99, I paid a whopping $1.61 in tax. Today, I received my credit for $22.99 towards a future iTunes purchase. So the next purchase will have tax deducted again.

I thought I would point this out. Perhaps someone will sue the government over double taxation
Did they take back the videos? If not, you have not earned a refund of the tax, because you still have the "item" you purchased. Apple discounting your price to zero does not change that.

Why? You only paid for a half season, not a full season. Apple owes you nothing.

No, they paid for what they though was a full season....after all it is called a "Season Pass", this would indicate that it is the entire season. I think Apple should be giving the option of a refund or getting the "final season" at no additional charge, as by all accounts the "final season" is only the last half of the 5th season.

So until Apple and AMC step up and do the right thing here, I hope that the lawsuit doesn't go away. And this is coming from someone who doesn't care about the show and hasn't purchased either season.

Actually, in California it would, you are supposed to be charged tax on the post-discount amount, not on the pre-discount amount.

Of course in California, there is currently no tax on digital only media, so that doesn't really matter.

Hmm, I haven't dealt with CA before. But I can see they have a quite convoluted set of laws. Anyway, it depends on what kind of discount is given, per Pub 113. I would imagine in this case, if it were a taxable item, giving a refund based on customer satisfaction (my words) would require a court case to solve.

This is bizarre and silly. Apple should not have to issue a refund.

I've purchased Breaking Bad seasons on iTunes for the past couple years. They are always priced according to the number of episodes in the season, with a slight discount for buying them all at once instead of episode by episode.

So (for standard definition), an 8-episode "season" cost $14.99, while buying each episode individually at $1.99 a pop would have been $15.92.

I purchased both parts of season 5 ("season 5" and "the final season"), each for $14.99 for Standard Definition (so I spent $29.98 total). Now Apple is giving me a refund code for $22.99, the cost of the HD version of half the season.

While I'll admit it's a nice gesture. . . it's pretty stupid that people sued Apple over this in the first place, and pretty sad that they won the law suit.

I don't think they won the law suit, I think this is preemptive action against the class action suit that was filed. I'm guessing this is to keep Apple out of court.

I'm confused. If you only purchased the current running season ("Final" part 2), are you entitled to a refund? I didn't purchase Season 5 (so-called "Final" part 1).

I haven't gotten anything by email from iTunes, and, actually, iOS 7 iTunes Store happens to be crashing a lot today; not able to check there.

When season 5 was first sold by Apple it was advertised as the final season, so they did have to make these refunds as.

I am not going to dispute that AMC changed the plan on Apple, and if I were Apple I would go after AMC for renumeration.

You are looking at it now, not when it was first being sold. I paid for season 5 and it was indicated to be the final season.

The email states "because you purchased season 5 season pass" it doesn't mention having bought season 6 as it's labeled in iTunes. This is how they are doing it since people assumed they bought the entire season, all 16 episodes.

You got a screenshot from iTunes to prove it says "Season 6"? Mine doesn't...says "Final Season."

But in iTunes, they are. Doesn't say final season when it downloads.
