as someone expecting to use thing thing for workouts as well I'm kinda disturbed by the amount of fabric on it. the band that came with my quest too got pretty nasty before I replaced it with a nonporous one lol

How do they demo to people that require a prescription lense?
With demo lenses? They may not be able to have every combination of power and astigmatism, but I'm sure they'll have dozens of different options. And they could probably get away with having some lenses in just 0.5 power increments instead of having every 0.25 increment. There will be some wiggle room as the Vision Pro is fixed focus.

There will definitely be a huge rush to try this out in stores. Expecting the spots not to be available for the initial few days/weeks due to the demand.

Apple should be demoing this thing now, not February. In advance just like they did with Apple Watch. I get they have had almost daily demos in their labs (there’s one in Battersea, London for example) but these have been for developers and journalists only. It’s like they have forgotten the actual consumer in all of this.

The sad thing is I already use a dongle like this on my Steam Deck since the USB-C port is on the top

The funny / sad thing is I find no mention of an actual USB C port on the AVP. It must be the portless device people have been predicting for years. It is MagSafe power driven. The charge port is on the battery. You can tell the nay sayers aren’t really paying attention or they would be all over this. I can’t wait for them to figure out it’s only 8 gb RAM lol. Apple is marketing this in total absence of specs (except M2 with 256 Gb storage). This is the ultimate iOS device.

Should be interesting.

Or just try before you buy regardless. Your life isn’t going to end because you’re not a day-1 adopter.

I can’t wait to see people in the airport or airplane wearing these; Got to love those early adopters.

Nope not doing it... I am a weak fool when it comes to tech... I will walk in there for a demo and walk out $3,500 poorer 🤣🤣

I currently don't see the point. Seems kind of silly. I would love to be proven wrong, but that price point is going to keep it out of a lot of hands.

I hope they do something like this - very few glasses wearers are going to drop $100 on the inserts (and wait weeks to receive them) just to demo it. I am wondering if near-sighted people such as myself wouldn't need them, though.

I am planning to evaluate the headset for simulation applications for my work, but I'll have to wait to until there's some concrete info about how they're handling prescription lenses.

Did anyone suggest that anyone’s life was going to end?
Did I even suggest I wanted to buy this thing at all? I merely said they should be letting the public try this thing out now to create early buzz and word of mouth.

Apple plans to start offering Vision Pro demonstrations at U.S. Apple retail stores on Friday, February 2, Apple said today in emails that are going out to select customers. February 2 is the official launch date of the Apple Vision Pro headset.

The demo sessions will be available at Apple retail stores in the United States. Apple says that demo times will be offered through the weekend on a first-come, first-served basis, with signups to take place starting at 8:00 a.m. on February 2.

It is likely that the available demo spots will fill up quickly, especially in areas with a limited number of Apple Stores, so those interested in testing the headset should plan to sign up early.

Apple plans to begin accepting pre-orders for the Vision Pro on Friday, January 19, with deliveries on February 2. The headset will be available in all U.S. Apple locations on February 2.
