(...) Some people are so critical about movies that they can't just sit back and enjoy it without analyzing every aspect of the production and plot.

Yeah, hi, it's me, the one person who prefers not to turn off their brain when engaging with art.

But that's the problem right here, isn't it? Apple pumping billions into making mass appeal slop. Just because it has high production values doesn't make it good.

When stuff isn't good, why would anyone pay for it every month?

Apple can bite me. Sorry the flood of cancellations after the price hike was announced had them making Surprise Pikachu face.
It’s their choice to burn cash fast and loose with these Hollywood welfare projects, but it’s ours as well to not support that decision.

Who do they think they are? SiriusXM radio?
More truth there than you might realize.

Former XM subscriber here. Finally had enough of the annual drill of getting an exorbitant renewal rate, that they could magically make reasonable when called to cancel. Told them I wasn't renewing again regardless.

Apple: don't turn yourselves into this.

The same people that will gladly go spend $100+ every weekend at restaurants and bars then complain they’re “too broke” for a small price increase.

If a little nickeling and diming is enough to make you mad, you have a personal money issue.

People need to get their money up. That’s all i’m going to say since I’ve probably already offended half the people on this forum.
And how do you "get your money up"? Develop IAP-infested apps for the App Store?

Cue should apologize to current subscribers for making them wait behind those who want to rent or buy the F1 movie.

And if they’re raising the rates because they’re about to have F1 on the platform, they should have tried a different tact— subscribe for $9.99 and get F1 for a lower cost of $9.99 sooner. Not smart. They could have gained subscribers instead of losing them.

Apple pumping billions into making mass appeal slop.

Hard to justify paying for a channel that rarely adds new content and then they do its copycat stuff instead of original

I wish I knew which narrative to believe - is it bad because Apple makes the content? Or is it bad because Apple doesn't make the content?

Eye of the beholder, I guess. In the MR forums it doesn't matter what's true as long as it ends up with "Apple bad!"

I accepted a "free" XM subscription that was so frustrating to cancel I vowed never to use their service again. If I can sign up online, I should be able to cancel online and not have to sit through ten minutes of "but what if I offered you to pay only $X for Y months to not drop our service?". Screw that.

They offered a free month to me. Great. When I tried to get it, I got everything from unknown error to not eligilble.

I'm so done with streaming. I get HBO for free but only use it for Bill Maher & John Oliver - I would never rewatch Sopranos via streaming service, only my own pirated BD rips. I pirated all of Carlin's specials last night - idk where to find them on streaming and if I found them, there's a good chance the 4:3 aspect ratio will have been cropped to 16:9 and zoomed. Most streaming is a doom scroll through stuff I've never heard of. It's not 1993 when "everyone" saw Jurassic Park - I can't remember any recent movies being pumped up big time besides Oppenheimer and Barbie and that was two summers ago. I can't remember having FOMO over a movie or TV show in so long.
