Once again, correct color for untagged images on wide gamut displays is not fixed. This makes Safari unusable on wide gamut displays. FireFox fixed this some time ago.

For some reason Safari last week lost all the browsing history and the bookmarks held in the bookmarks menu. I thought the girlfriend did it as it was her first time on a Mac.

Then as i was rebuilding the links, they disappeared again today. I hope the update fixes this bug.

Safari vs Chrome

not completely related, but i'm having a tough time deciding between Safari and Chrome as my primary browser.

the one thing that bugs me about Chrome: syncing bookmarks with iPhone. what's the best/simplest way to do that? thanks.

Ok, i use Safari, Firefox 4, Chrome 9, IE9, Opera 11 (Windows 7) and each one has some goods and pro..

I like Safari 'cause it's fast and very compatible, the only think i don't link it's after a while it starts using a lot of RAM (when i mean a lot, it's around 400-500 mb with just 2 pages open)

With 5.0.3 Until now it's going very well, hope they fixed it.

Firefox 4 it's too buggy yet, same on IE 9.
Chrome 9 one of the best, but sometimes i can't open some pages :S

Anyone else having this update URL autofilling in away from macrumors? It seems like any other website I have ever visited that starts with "mac" fills in, I have to type in "macrumor" before it fills in the "s". This started once I applied this update, even though I visit Macrumors 4-5 times a day, and I visited macupdate once . . . . 3 weeks ago.

Anyone else or is it just me?

Edit:

I was getting the terrible top hits behavior before but now it appears to have corrected itself with this update. I had the same problem trying to get to NewEgg. Other websites with just "new" in the comments would always pop up first.

This update seems to have messed up the automatic clock settings. Did this happen to anyone else? It set mine back to December 31, 2000, 6:04 pm. Is this a glitch? I had to manually set the date and clock.

This happened to me as well. Quite annoying I must say

Waste of time I see, Apple STILL haven't made it work properly, fixed the memory leackage, stopped it from slowing down all the time with several tabs open and after the computers been sleeping. It's a disaster of a browser IMO.
It's an utter joke the way Adobe and Apple spit and spat at each other like school children, they are both to blame, not just one of them, in fact I would say Apple is mroe to blame.

Anyway, I'll stick to FF until they learn how to make a browser that works..

Upgraded and for me it is HORRIBLE :( Everything is slow. Safari was super speedy before the upgrade. Also sometimes when I'm clicking/typing in nothing happens, no type for four or five tries. Ill restart again. Scary.

Good news.
"like"
:)

now I'm just waiting for Adobe to release the flash version they are developing now with the only one MBAir they have in their lab.

Adobe will release the beta in about 5 or 10 years.

I usually run 50 to 100 tabs in Safari on a 3 year old MBP.

I do have Safari flash blocker on though.

Hells yeah

People really use Safari when we have Chrome and Firefox?

I don't know about Chrome, but unlike Firefox, Safari will actually allow a Mac to go to sleep if the machine is idle. Say I set my MacBook Pro down and walk away. If I'm running Safari, 10 minutes later, the machine will go to sleep. If I'm running Firefox, the battery will drain to zero, and go into forced hybernate (if I'm lucky).

It seems like this is the first update to Safari 5 that actually makes it useable. It's been slow and buggy for me so far. Now it's fine.

A tad snappier now, I suggest.

But why is Safari one of the few browsers that requires a system restart after an update?

When you install a Safari update, an update to the system's WebKit framework is also installed. Since this is used by quite a few apps and the system, a reboot is required to load the new framework.

Up until three days ago I was a diehard Safari fanboi. Didn't care for any other browser, they didn't feel Mac-like :apple:. I didn't see the point in trying anything else (especially now with extensions).

Then I tried chrome. SO MUCH QUICKER. And I don't know if my mac is wrong or something but with Safari it is super slow and crashes as hell. I mean REALLY.
(98% times flash is involved though).

With Chrome my mac is snappy. And I continuously check activity monitor, and it is WAY more efficient. So I'll be using Chrome from now on...

...Well i'm on Safari now. But that's because I keep forgetting to click Chrome. Safari is too much of a habit. I'll close it now.

Try going on a forum with alot of GIF's. then see how much you like it. Chrome sucks, and I thought it was good for awhile.

How is no one bringing up the article reader? I've been using this and I love it so far.
