It’s just ammunition for haters to say they’ve lost their way, but Apple gets almost everything right.

The average person probably doesn’t even remember this product being teased...that’s the reality. It was also going to be a non needle moving product for their financials. Even selling 10M at $100 of these would have been $1B in revenue...a blip.
Getting worried?

I don’t have time to read all 46 pages of responses... this may have been said.. I’m guessing I’ll be waking up to class action lawsuit headlines sometime next week as well as members of Congress calling for an official inquiry.

They could at least release an Apple made wireless charging device to keep it all in the family. What the hell...

I think Apple uses a glass back chassis since iPhone8 in order to support AirPower. It is much more easier to break and lower the touch feeling of the device. Now AirPower is canceled. It is really a 'good' user experience.

This will go down in tech history as one of the most notorious examples of vaporware.
Ahhh yes! As an old man I remembered when Panasonic announced the M2 game console that was supposed to be more powerful than the Nintendo 64 and all I heard about that console is the sound of crickets. I'm still waiting to hear when this console will be released lol!

Can't buyers sue Apple? I mean, it could be a case of misleading advertising or something, some people purchased :apple: products because of this upcoming product...
No, they really didn't.

And if they did, it wasn't reasonable for them to do so.

Been saying it since the truth of batterygate came to light — he’s running Apple’s innovation into the ground.

Another stupid comment. The entire reason their execution failed in this case was because they were being too innovative and trying to do something nobody has done before.

If everything they did was easy, then that would show they might not be being innovative. Hell, iPhone didn't work when Steve demonstrated it.

Would it be the ultimate Aprils Fools umm... power move to suddenly, announce on Aprils 1st that this announcement was just a joke.

wait.... so.... qi charging, which has been around for years, and is eloquently done by literally hundreds of manufacturers - they couldnt get that right?

i dont want to read a lot into this, but its hard not to see this as a colossal failure and speaks a lot about just how far theyve fallen as a hardware company.

Sigh.

As has been pointed out dozens of times in this thread, they were not trying to simply do qi charging. They were trying to do something literally nobody has succeeded in doing, which is creating a pad where you do not have to line up the devices in a specific location on the pad.

Wow, this is actually a bit shocking as I can't think the last time Apple announced a product but canceled it unreleased. Someone lost their job over this.

Well air print was announced and then was not seen again for years and years
