I realise it’s sarcasm.. but none were sold. That’s like suing ford for a concept card. :)

But it doesn’t look suspicious that Apple released the second gen AirPods with a wireless charging case with AirPower right on the box and then soon after cancel out the AirPower? I wouldn’t be happy. I realize someone can use any wireless charging pad to charge the AirPod case but what if someone wanted to specifically use AirPower to charge it along with their watch and iPhone? They’re going to be pissed and have every right to.

Apple could have asked for help from outside experts but chose to go down that washout road all by their lonesome.

Too bad, for this product, but my bet is that Apple is working on proximity charging. Which is even better since it works without you having to put your Apple product(s) on a mat.

And also worse, because the inverse square law is a harsh bitch.

i hope you are right (or maybe i should phrase it as, i wish you are right).

i remember about 3 or 4 years ago when the most prominent of the "proximity charging" companies made vague claims that a top tier mobile fon company was to set to begin use of its tech.
that company wanted everyone to believe it was apple that was going to use its tech.
of course apple never did.

but if ""proximity charging" were to overcome all the challenges that still exist before it can be commercialized, it certainly would be a game changer (as long as its users weren't also being fried at the same time...).

It seems the more services oriented Apple is now focusing less on making great hardware.

this could be very well true. hmmm....

Sorry but I don't think anyone's working on anything like that. The power requirements would be insane. Look up inverse square law.

So, "Can't innovate, My Ass!" quote would seem to be.... your ass Mr. Schiller

it deserves repeating.
people should also be emaiing it as well directly to mr. phil.
his now famous comment was an unintended freudian slip: they really are not innovating.

Bahahahaha. I can only laugh at people and the blindness people have. Lol
It would be even funnier if you look in the mirror and ask why you own shares of a failed company.

You just aren’t being truthful, more likely. You also don’t know much about business...you overreact.

1698 posts! People sure are passionate about a bloody charging mat!

But seriously, this sucks. I hate QI chargers and their finicky placement requirements and this seemed to be aiming to solve this - multi charging would just be a bonus.

They let you know AirPower is a no go before the return window was over for AirPods 2, even if you bought them on release day. What is shady about that?
They know that most people are too lazy to return things. If you think Apple is not keen the timing of announcements and how they impact purchasing you’re not understanding how Apple works. They used AirPower as a selling point and waited till after the presale before announcing the withdraw of AirPower.
