I ignored the MobileMe warnings because I never really cared for it or used it, just to see what happened. Just now tried the me.com site and it directs one to go to iCloud. I sign in on iCloud and it says to sign into iCloud I have to move the MobileMe account. I click to Get Started and it goes back to the "closed" me.com page, so it is stuck in an infinite loop.

But did they have to just scrap the whole thing and start over. Why not just rebuild it and keep everything. What does iCloud do that is so different from Mobile Me.

A 100x better name and much more iOS integration.

Has any one thought that being they named the iPhone 3G that they may name it the iPhone 4G? It would make sense to me.

Then again I work on computers for a living so I may be thinking too logically. :D

The iPhone technically supports 4G right now since HSPA+ is considered 4G. I think that only AT&T offers HSPA+ for iPhones right now, not that I care how fast my 200MB data plan is.

So what the over/under on when that sign says 'iCloud is closed'?
Four years?

I disagree with the former, and am worried about how the latter takes away very useful features from desktops/laptops.
I don't need my Mac's file sharing dumbed down just to meet the screen size, data, and file structure requirements of my phone.

Well it was MobileMe... Just wait, Apple is adding features. And I don't see why the name should be "MobileMe". I thought Apple was supposed to use the word "i" to mean that it's personal.

iWork.com beta was actually a really, really useful way for me to share large presentation files across the globe.

Will be missed.

The rest of it can burn in hell, of course.

Playing devil's advocate, how about because in our numbering system 5 comes immediately after 4? The "S" addition (3GS, 4S), is not seen as completely new phone, but a modification of the previous (3G, 4). It's the same in software...v1.5 may be the second release of v1.0, and the third version isn't v3.0, it's v2.0.

My opinion, it won't be the iPhone 6 because there wasn't an iPhone 5. It'll be the new iPhone.

Steve would just call it a Revolutionary "iPhone" same thing they did with the iPad, they just called it "iPad" instead of iPad 3?

How does this relate to Moblie me Shutting down?

Ugh, I'm sorry to do this but I just can't stand when people are so sure of somethings that is so illogical... give me ONE logical reason why you think the next iPhone will be called iPhone 5. Just one. Here is my logical reason why it absolutely will NOT be called iPhone 5:

First iPhone: Officially named "iPhone" running iPhone iOS 1.xx
Second iPhone: Officially named "iPhone 3G" (due to the new 3G chip) iOS 2.xx
Third iPhone: Officially named "iPhone 3GS" (due to the added speed bump) iOS 3.xx
Fourth iPhone: Officially named "iPhone 4" (due to being the fourth iPhone) iOS 4.xx
Fifth iPhone: Officially named "iPhone 4S" (due to speed bump/Siri) iOS 5.xx
Sixth iPhone: Officially named "iPhone 6" (due to being the sixth iPhone and running iOS 6.xx) or ? But it will NOT be called the iPhone 5 as there is absolutely not one single reason AT ALL for it to be labeled "5". I'll wager you and anyone else thousands of dollars on it!

So again, you people are saying that the 6th generation iPhone that will be running iOS 6 will be called iPhone 5!? And your logic for this is what exactly?

Am I the only one tired of reading these never ending, off topic posts, on why apple will not issue an iphone 5? Is this really worth arguing. The next iphone will be the 4th generation iphone, not 6th. The 3gs was the 2.5 model and the 4S is the 3.5 model. Notice the graphic similarity between 5 and S? Why else would they use an S as a modifier? The iphone 5 (S) will be the 4th generation.

Apples iphone naming has had nothing to do with generations or consistent logic. The iphone 4 is only called that because 4 followed 3, but that 3 referred to a cellular data technology, not the phone generation, which has caused much confusion among customers who conveniently believe the iphone 4 is 4g. Maybe apple will decide to call the next phone the 4gs.

I'm sure apple will dump the numbering system just for this reason. There are not numbered other apple products (beyond ipad 2). No ipod 2's, or macbook 6's, but there are macbook airs (mid 2012).

And yet you're the one bringing it all up again, regurgitating the same illogical non-sense that others have thoroughly covered.

According to Apple, every new iPhone introduced every year is a new generation, thus, the next iPhone is the sixth generation. What it will be called is anyone's guess, but it will NOT be called iPhone 5 is all I was trying to say previously. And I've made it clear why; many others made it [unclear] why not, and yet you had to bring it all up again when most people had moved on and back on topic already (myself included on my previous post.) Way to go!

I get the name, but MobileMe was still the only option for in-house file syncing etc on Laptops and Desktops (not to mention that laptops are mobile without having the same constraints as phones). But mostly, I don't really want to wait for them to possibly bring back features that they just killed off.
I'm happy it's free; so far that's about it.
