I’m sure I’m not alone in the following Apple services scenario. I’ve got Music family plan @ $14.99, 2TB iCloud storage at $9.99, and I’ve been using Apple TV+ for free since I bought my iPhone 11PM, and now that they’ve got at least a few shows my wife and I like, we want to have it continue on.

My wife would like to get News+ access, but we really don’t want or need Arcade and Fitness is probably not going to be used much (we’ve got a Peloton bike). So we’ll spring for the Premier plan at $30 a month and it will effectively be giving us TV+ for $5 a month, which isn’t bad. And maybe we will use News+ and Fitness some, to add a bit more to our benefit.

Was really excited until I saw the family plan still only had 200 GB...wtf apple. The article says I can upgrade the storage. Anyone have a price on Family plan with 2 TB? a month
That would be the Premier Plan. the Family Plan is $20 and to add 2 TB storage is another $10 so same diff as just getting the Premier Plan at $30.
EDIT: Come to think of it, you might be better off just getting the Family Plan and just adding the 2TB storage for another $10 a month. Reason being, you would get the 200GB that you are already paying for in the FP, plus an *additional* 2TB. Same cost, just a matter of what you want/need included.

Would it have really been that difficult to just let people sign up for whatever Apple services they want and offer a 20% monthly discount when you subscribe to 2 Apple services and a 30% monthly discount when subscribing to 3+ Apple services? Why complicate things with these ridiculous bundles Apple?

I pay annually for Apple Music at $99 a year. I considered upgrading to the individual Apple One plan, but realized that I don't use Arcade and the other three services purchased separately come out a few cents cheaper than the bundle.

Apple Music: $8.25/month
Apple TV+: $4.99/month
50GB iCloud storage: $0.99/month

So I'd pay $14.23 a month for those services without Arcade. I'd be tempted if they offered more iCloud storage.

Annual purchase options for all of these would be welcome. Did MacRumors do their math on the individual plan using the $99.00 annual Apple Music plan?

I didn't, but it looks like it's about $4.35ish in savings. $99.99/12 + $4.99 for Apple Arcade + $4.99 for Apple TV Plus + $0.99 for 50GB iCloud storage = $19.30 per month compared to the $14.95 cost of the individual plan.

Extra iCloud Storage

The Individual Apple One plan comes with 50GB of iCloud storage and the Family plan comes with 200GB. Those who need more storage can upgrade their iCloud storage plans as part of Apple One for an additional fee. There have been rumors that Premier subscribers can purchase an additional 2TB of iCloud storage above the 2TB included in the plan for a total of 4TB, but that has yet to be confirmed by Apple.
MacWorld confirmed this to be true.

All Apple One plans, not just Premier, are eligible for supplemental 50GB, 200GB, or 2GB iCloud storage for $0.99, $2.99, and $9.99, respectively.

Apple has not confirmed whether existing iCloud subscriber can purchase supplemental storage, however.

The more you look at it, the more you can see what they're doing.

Music and iCloud are the anchors. Those two would be a combination of either $11 or $18 (individual + 50GB or family + 200GB).

Throw in Arcade and TV+, which many might not see the appeal for, and its just a few dollars more. Same thing when you bump up to premiere and adding News+ & Fitness+. I get the sense they don't have massive subscription numbers for any of these individually.

Sooo no article is gonna mention how it works if you already have an annual Apple Arcade membership? Do you get refunded?

Articles aren't going to mention because Apple haven't detailed. Typically the outstanding balance will be rolled into the monthly, but they don't do that with services like iTunes Match, so you may need to wait until your year is up. Bottom line, we'll know for sure when it launches.

I cancelled my iTunes Match when I learned that Apple Music includes it. After it canceled I still have my music library in the cloud. Was that a mistake from Apple?

No. It was always part of the package. Apple used to push that more prominently, but I just don't think they feel it worth mentioning now.

We need different storage tiers for iCloud. It's not enough.
My only real complaint about Apple One is stingy iCloud storage on non-Premier plans.

Both Apple One Individual ($14.99) and Apple One Family ($19.99) are pretty good deals. But if you ever need 2TB storage, you are forced to spend additional $9.99 for additional 2TB of storage. That bumps their prices to $24.98 and $29.98, respectively, clearly an upsell as most folks would then contemplate spending $0.01 or $5.01 more for Apple One Premier and get Apple Fitness+, Apple Music Family, and Apple News+ as well.

Apple should do what it can to encourage as many people to backup their data and photos with iCloud storage, not hold it as a hostage for upsell.

IMO, Apple should (1) double the storage, (2) offer a Basic plan, and (3) offer a yearly pricing:
  • Apple One Basic ($4.99/month or $49.99/year): 50GB iCloud storage, Apple Arcade or Apple TV+.
  • Apple One Individual ($14.99/month or $149.99/year): 200GB iCloud storage, Apple Music Individual, Apple Arcade, Apple TV+
  • Apple One Family ($19.99/month or $199.99/year): 2TB iCloud storage, Apple Music Family, Apple Arcade, Apple TV+
  • Apple One Premier ($29.99/month or $299.99/year): 4TB iCloud storage, Apple Music Family, Apple Arcade, Apple TV+, Apple Fitness+, Apple News+

iTunes Match is part of Apple Music
Not really... not if you have a bunch of music that's not on Apple Music. Maybe it's changed, but the last time I checked, you'd still need iTunes Match if you want to have your whole library backed up and available on the cloud.

If you subscribe to iTunes Match and Apple Music, cancel iTunes Match. The features of iTunes Match are already In Apple Music. Apple does not make this clear. I have complained to Apple about this and they refused to give a refund and only suggested I provide feedback. Which I have done as I don’t know what else I can do.

According to this, you get all the features of iTunes Match in Apple Music:

This is the same exact boat I'm in! My mom loves the idea of Fitness + her Apple Watch and I have a niece who may or may not be interested in the Arcade. News+ and AppleTV are a bonus. Premier is a steal imo, however, family and individual could use more iCloud data.

Yeah our family uses 330GB between 3 of us (me, my wife, and my mother in law). Device backups, photo libraries, iCloud storage, years of iMessages - really adds up!

We'll be getting the premier anyway. <shrug> But I can't imagine we're that far from normal. :p

Store device backups on an external drive, and possibly photos. Change phone settings to automatically delete messages after a year. With that alone your cloud storage needs should go down by 60%.

For the Premier Plan, is the 2 TB divided among family members, or is it 2 TB per family member?

You guys forgot iTunes Match aka iTunes in the Cloud. It is NOT part of Apple Music.
As others said, iTunes Match is part of Apple Music. Apple should just roll the feature into iCloud, as the feature is called iCloud Music Library anyway -- and use iCloud storage space if the user is not a subscriber to Apple Music.
For the Premier Plan, is the 2 TB divided among family members, or is it 2 TB per family member?
2TB is shared among family members. You can control who can use how much. 200GB plan is also Family Sharing enabled.
