Plus they can charge two phones at the speed of 20watts. 5 watts more than the existing MagSafe accessory.
Power Adapter is not included and it costs only $99.
Yeah, major big brain move by Apple. Should look into buying AAPL stonks

Why this style of stand? Who wants two feet on their desktop, especially if you have the monitors tilted in a little and the feet are going to be closer to the center of your desk than the rear?

I suppose the answer is people coughing up the money for this will have as big of desk as they want. I'd prefer to see a good arm type stand. This style limits your ability to have a vertical monitor as well.

I don’t understand why people want dual monitors so much with drag and snap features as well as wide screen monitors.

As a developer, my main machine is a MBP 16". My email resides on the built in screen. My main display is an XDR which is a full Xcode window and my 3rd screen is a 27" Thunderbolt Display where I put everything else - Notes, Safari, other code windows, a Signal conversion with our developer in Europe, etc. I may replace my 27" with an XDR at some point and this stand would be very nice indeed.

Let's see...under my mid-2010 27" iMac I have a Windows User Experience book and a Dreamweaver CS3 "missing" manual. Can probably get them for free these days. Under the other monitor...wait, I don't have another monitor.

This has its use cases, but it has its flaws too. If you want to adjust the angle of the monitors, for example, you have to move the feet. If you have two different monitors, you don't have any independent vertical adjustment to align them. The patent filing also decries the footprint other monitor stands occupy, but they work on a lot of desks where this won't: with this stand the edge of the monitors can't over hang the desk, and you will lose any space you had on the sides of the monitors. As far as I'm concerned, desk space beside monitors is more important than space below monitors, and the footprint of this design is massive. Lastly, while I doubt this would be a problem with an Apple designed stand, lesser versions would have some major sag at the center hinge. I'm not the target audience though. if you have miles of desk space, identical monitors, and piles of money, this would look pretty cool (if Apple decides to make it).

You all are pricing this wrong.

Because it's for dual monitors, the only way to get it is if you purchase it packaged with 2 XDR monitors. Accordingly:

$4999 (or $5999) x 2 + $3999

You who went out and purchased an XDR already; if you were thinking you could just add a second and this stand, well, you all are out of luck. :D

I see a lot of joke prices, but in reality I think Apple will price it at what that they will can call a bargain at $1499- $1799, because that's still much cheaper than buying two individual stands. Wheels optional of course. :D

I'm amazed how intellectual the debate is. Almost everyone lowered themselves to just joke about the price. Really?

Anyway, this looks really nice. I wonder how they really solved the fact that the middle will have to deal with a lot of weight and yet its kinda 'unsupported'. There must be huge amount of stress on that middle piece. It certainly would be interesting to see this and try it.

Two monitors and two feet. How is this better than having a separate stand for both? Keep in mind that this is not the usual desktop mount solution.

Too much weight. It’ll bend.

And you're basing this off what?

I see no dimensioning on the patent, nor any material specifications. Any half competent engineer would know the weight of the display, the bending moment/stress it would generate on the stand, and pick a section modulus appropriate for those conditions such that no failure would occur.

Ergotron HX Dual:

But the Apple stand only holds 2 monitors :D
