For at least $2000? Probably $2500, because... It holds TWO MONITORS! Or something...

I have an HP VESA double monitor stand in my office, sitting unused. After hearing of the problems with the VESA mounts, I'll probably save it for the time that I'm pushed into going Windows, or Haiku, SunOS, Linux, Dual TVs...

That diagram looks like a jury rigged PVC+ wood base stand I built in college. It held primitive 15" LCD, paper notes, CDs, and more. $15 of parts (another $10 for strengthening rods put inside the PVC) and 3 hours of construction later I only I'd been in the materials department I could've made it out of plastic.

It was useful but better than that was the "caveman build fire, caveman feel good" experience.

Nothing wrong with that price if it is well made and functions as described.
I can totally expect these stands to be ultra top notch, smooth, etc... I have come to gravitate towards Apple product variants because they really always excel.

For $2k though, don’t know man, a kickass MacBook Air M1 that’s doing the rounds all over the internet costs less than half than that.

Also, I totally agree with the premise and drawbacks of individual stands... but sometimes separate movement and arrangement is welcomed.

Dual monitors are sad and annoying. I used them for years way back when they were the only way to get more screen real estate. This patent is about 20 years late. Now 42-50" monitors are widely available and work much better without a bezel in the way. Together with my Ergotron LX HD monitor arm, I've got a huge and fully adustable display.

The decision to market the display stand as a standalone accessory now makes more sense in context. But it will no doubt continue to be used for cheap shots against by Apple who those who simply don’t know any better.

Anyone has the link to the original patent for the Pro Stand? I'm very curious about the structures inside it.

[update] Found it.
