Meh. This is just a minor blip in their negotiations. Apple will go with Hyundai/Kia in the end. There isn't really any other choice, especially with the exceptional E-GMP platform that Hyundai made.
Everyone can keep crying about it ("Bu...bu...HYUNDAI BRAND IS NO GOOD!!! WAAAAH WAHHH"), but Apple will remain objective and pick the best supplier/manufacturer, just like how they still use Samsung's displays.

Lots of Dunning-Kruger effect in this thread. 🤣

Wish they would pick Nissan.
Another one who thinks he's smarter than Apple's automotive engineers.
Relax, people are allowed to have an opinion on things. Not every argument against people wanting Apple to use a brand other than Hyundai and Kia has to go back to "Apple's automotive engineers knows best!".

Besides, maybe they are just a Nissan fan.

As for Nissan, I personally would be concerned about reliability. Although a lot of Nissan's reliability issues are trans-related, which would most likely be different different on an EV.

Does the problem go away if you add bezels to it by using it with a case?
Not at all, at least with the case I bought since day 1 (KHOMO brand):

KHOMO iPad Air 4 Case 10.9-inch 2020 - Dual Origami Series - See Through - Supports Apple Pen Charging - Black (KHO-1695) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08KTS1FZ...abc_HNFPS74V9HZ6GCHNDY97?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

The fact is you cannot add bezels using a case, because all cases are designed to avoid cover the screen, so case bezels would anyway match the tiny iPad bezels. And if that were the case you could not intentionally touch the edge of the screen if you want to.

Actually the issue is that bezels are really small, so the screen is quite close to the edge of iPad, so is very easy to your fingers to reach the screen although you never intend it.

Apple is very objective when they're picking suppliers and manufacturers, as they should be. They despise Samsung yet continue to use their displays, because Samsung is the best display manufacturer in the world. Brand affinity has no place in manufacturing.

I would say Apple's engineers know more about which car company produces high quality parts than the people on this thread.

Is it really that shocking to people here that Apple thought the automotive manufacturer with the highest quality was Hyundai/Kia? I think it's an emotional response. People here paid $30+k for a car Apple thinks is 2nd or 3rd rate to Hyundai/Kia. Now they're lashing out.

I think this entire situation is hilarious. It's the non-Hyundai/Kia owners who are furious that Apple thinks they bought an inferior car. 😂

If you know better than Apple's entire automotive team, then why aren't you working at Apple? Hell, they should fire their entire automotive team and give all their pay to you!

Apple has far more resources than you to hire a team of engineering experts to determine which manufacturer can produce quality parts. Does it upset you that they came to a different conclusion than your preconceived notions?
I think the Nissan guy was just kidding! LOL

While this all could be true, people can have opinions on things.

This is especially true when people post valid reasoning why they would prefer to see another brand be chosen. The retort of "Apple knows best" isn't really a good argument.

If Apple always known best, we wouldn't of had flops like the luxury marking of the 1st gen AW, removal of the MagSafe on Macs, and butterfly keyboards.

Apple can make mistakes, too.

Besides, these are all rumors at this point, and no one knows what Apple is going to do. Who knows, they might end up going with Nissan.

I think it's an emotional response.
Is that anything new?

There's a big difference between making a new product and studying products that have already been released.
It's quite easy to buy cars from various manufacturers, hire an external engineer like Sandy Munro to do a tear down, have your own internal engineering team analyze them and then compare your results with the external engineer's report. It's much easier to determine quality on products that are already out than products that are still in the prototype stage. A breakdown usually reveals issues while serious issues in unfinished product may not come to light until they're actually released.

Of course, Apple could be entirely wrong, but it's very unlikely.

Better suck it up, people. Apple thinks Hyundai/Kia is better than your car. Makes you wonder why you paid that $50k for a Lexus when you could've bought a $20k Elantra 🤣

Edit: Actually, there is one automotive company I think that produces better cars than Hyundai/Kia, and it's Tesla. Sandy Munro agrees that Tesla is the best. Unfortunately, that option is unavailable for Apple.
You guys should watch the recent Sandy Munro interview with Elon Musk. It shows how fast Tesla is progressing (IE. Going from having the worst car seats to the absolute best car seats). The level of vertical integration, manufacturing prowess and speed of improvement at Tesla is astonishing. I thought Samsung's manufacturing prowess was otherworldly, but Tesla is on a different dimension.

This is why I think everyone except Tesla is screwed. Robotaxis are going to contract new auto sales market considerably.

I'm also not sure why that person thinks expertise in ICE manufacturing is equivalent to expertise in EV manufacturing. They're completely different things.
No the are not. The are exactly the same thing.

Why would Tesla agree to that? Tesla wants to control the entire development and production of their vehicles. There is no reason for Tesla to share profits with anyone else now that they're going 200 miles/hour and look unstoppable.

Not buying Tesla back in 2018/2019 is going to be Apple's biggest mistake.
Tesla doesn’t even make profit on the vehicles they sell. They made $600M in profit in the last 12 months and most of that was selling energy credits.

$600M profit and an $800B valuation.

Apple just made $29B in profit in 90 days.

Tesla’s valuation is totally inconsistent with their fundamentals and they will have to be A LOT more profitable to keep their valuation long term.

EV is not ICE. The battery and drive train are the most important parts of an EV; Apple did their research and concluded Hyundai and Kia had the highest quality.
Unless you think you're smarter than the experts Apple hired.
It’s cute you think you actually know what Apple is going to do…. You keep repeating it as if it’s fact when it’s not even close to it.

I can already picture the announcement. Ladies and gentleman, Apple Car, the most intelligent vehicle in the word. Starting from $500,000. Everyone cheering and applauding... 🤦🏻‍♂️😒
LOL how green will the car be? A new update every year?

Have you ever seen/felt the inside of a Tesla? Feels surprisingly cheap. Hyundais I've rented at the airport feel more luxury.
they can make it into a luxury, I think they just need Hyundai/Kia to manufacture, I doubt they will allow them to put their logos on the car.

Tesla is a growth company. Most profits get funneled back into capex and R&D. Those gigafactories aren't going to build themselves.

🤣 This agreement will happen whether you like it or not. E-GMP is very hard to beat.
You sound upset that you're going to pay $150k for a Kia. Don't be! Kia is great. $150k for an Apple-branded Kia could sell well! It'll be inferior to Tesla's cars, but people buy Apple for the brand, not the product quality, so all should be good.
Enjoy your Kia! 🤣

Again, you have absolutely no idea what is going to happen but keep spouting off like you know it’s a fact

Syklee26 is right. E-GMP is superior to everything else that non-Tesla manufacturers made. This deal is happening. 99% probability.

I don't know why you are so upset? It makes no sense to me. A $150k Kia is still good. You will enjoy driving your Kia. Don't be upset. :(

I’m not upset, stop assuming, you’re just making up your own facts.

If you're not upset, then shouldn't you be saying "I am so happy Apple is using Kia! I can't wait to pay $150k to buy a Kia! I want to drive this $150k Kia every day!"?

Like I said, Kia is a great company. Apple thinks they are the highest quality automaker, so what's your issue?

It’s not a fact that Apple is using Kia, again, you’re just assuming it’s fact
