How do you pause something that never started in the first place?
There were preliminary talk and everything seems like a “ go “ but I guess at the 11th hour final minor detail * cough cough * money wasn’t right😆

Lexus is just a Toyota with different badging.

Maybe, but a Kia or especially a Hyundai Apple Car would mostly likely be much more reliable than anything Mercedes offers.

Ever wonder why Mercedes has such horrible resale value compared to other brands? Definitely not Apple-like.
Both my Mercedes would like to have a word with you. One of them has well over 250,000 miles with barely any work beyond regular maintenance

Apple already # 1 company in the world..still wonder why Apple wants to go into auto industry..instead trying to build EV how about making MORE and EFFICIENCY Apple products so we Apple sheeps don’t have to wait months for products to be arrived.

I think it's going to be costly either way but I don't know of any KIA or Hyundai in the million mile (on original block and transmission) club. So I think considering other manufacturers isn't a bad idea.

EV is not ICE. The battery and drive train are the most important parts of an EV; Apple did their research and concluded Hyundai and Kia had the highest quality.
Unless you think you're smarter than the experts Apple hired.

I just want an iPad mini that doesn't look a decade old—full screen, small bezels, and uses the 2nd gen Apple Pencil.

Why do people want small bezels on iPads? You need those to grab them with your thumbs. I don't want unwanted screen interactions when grabbing an iPad. Current bezels are just fine.
Actually you’re right! Last Xmas I upgraded my old iPad 5 to a brand new iPad Air 4, so it’s being my first experience with an all screen iPad. Although it is true that I’m happy with it in a general way, the true is that because of the smallish bezels, I have much more unintentional screen interactions than I thought would have, and by far much more than with my old iPad, to the point that sometimes ruins in a certain way the user experience becoming kind of frustrating.

I can already picture the announcement. Ladies and gentleman, Apple Car, the most intelligent vehicle in the word. Starting from $500,000. Everyone cheering and applauding... 🤦🏻‍♂️😒
Don’t forget the guy that goes woooo! :p

Everyone knows Lexus as well as everyone knows Apple. I tell people Genesis and they’re like, “who??”
The fit and finish on those looked really good when I saw one in Sydney airport. They were great value for money but I don’t think they sold too many, people weren’t confident it would hold its value.

Does the problem go away if you add bezels to it by using it with a case?

So to everyone crying over Apple going with Hyundai / Kia, do you actually know if Hyundai/Kia are bad or are you just assuming so because of brand?

Apple did their research and concluded that the Hyundai/Kia platform was the best. Are you telling us all that you, some random person on the net with probably no expertise in this area, know better than the automotive engineers Apple hired full-time to study this?

Maybe the truth is that you're all suffering from Dunning-Kruger effect and don't know how to actually determine quality in a car aside from what brand it is. I think that's the more likely explanation for the meltdown I'm seeing here.

That syklee26 guy is correct. Hyundai engineered an extremely good EV platform. There really is no other choice for Apple. This partnership is going forward whether people here like it or not.

Why do you think that any other car built by Hyundai would appear to be more reliable than a Mercedes?
Because of the brands' recent track records.

I know that individual rankings do not always portray real-world experience, but when all the recent rankings consistently have Hyundai as one of the most reliable brands and Mercedes as one of the most unreliable brands, I think it is very telling.

BTW, I am not saying that Apple should or should not use Hyundai, but I think from a reliability perspective, Hyundai would be a much safer choice than Mercedes.

I guess the experience of one person beats out the historical reliability data and resale values?

There are some models that have better ratings than others, but on the whole, Mercedes is just not a reliable brand.

Wish they would pick Nissan.
Another one who thinks he's smarter than Apple's automotive engineers (Many of which came from Tesla).
If you know better than Apple's entire automotive team, then why aren't you working at Apple? Hell, they should fire their entire automotive team and give all their pay to you!

Apple has far more resources than you to hire a team of engineering experts to determine which manufacturer can produce quality parts. Does it upset you that they came to a different conclusion than your preconceived notions?
