I wish Apple would do something cool like share some of the ad revenue with smaller developers to help encourage small businesses.

These app developers should build their own platform and AppStore then.
A lot of developers would really love to do this but it's not a level playing field. Apple's App Store is built into the phone and won't host third party app stores. They make it very difficult to load apps other than through their own App Store and the continuous FUD put out by Apple about anything not specially permitted by them has persuaded much of the Apple market to specifically avoid such things.

This is a great example of a shortsighted decision that grows the bottom line in the near term while eroding the brand’s reputation over the long term. Just how bad the erosion will be remains to be seen.
I’ve always looked at the Apple brand as being “genuine.” Genuine hardware, genuine software, genuine service.

Apple seems to be more “questionable” than “genuine” these days.

I think this whole "let's grow our ad business to 10 Billion $" is the most serious blunder in Cook's reign at Apple because it seriously damages the most valuable of Apple's assets: its brand. The people who support this decision inside Apple are the wrong people for the company, they must resign, let them join Meta or Google. As for Cook: I think this is the beginning of the end for his time at Apple, too.

Sadly, people have been happy to accept google and facebooks business model for years, it ain’t going to change just because apple got into the same thing.

We either have to stop using the offending products, or accept it.

If we could make the advertising business model unprofitable, it will go away.
Actually these years I have been testing alternatives which are not necessarily limited to digital. Pen & paper, free and open source. But have to clarify I will not entirely give up digital as some can be good. Convenience should not be the only value in my life.

That's Tim Cook for you. Steve would've hated this and the past couple of years I really don't see why we pay a premium for Apple devices when we're headed towards getting the same experience as on the cheap Samsung with the ads in system apps. If you want to make bank on advertising or services at least make the devices affordable or have a device that competes in the affordable price range and I'm not talking about the SE because that's competing with the Galaxy S3 mini or something from that design era. The greed makes them come up with more and more ideas on how to get more money from us and that's going to become increasingly annoying as corporations can never have enough. A code of ethics is the only thing that stops them from doing things that destroy UX for money and at this point I trust Apple and Google about the same with that they'd both put ads in the sky for money.

That’s how capitalism, and specifically shareholder capitalism, works. Always need to generate an ever increasing return.

I wonder if anybody still uses Apps stores (Apple's and Google's) as real stores were something is actually bought instead of just a place to get the free apps from the services you need (banking, parking, Uber, similar ....)

Still a pretty crappy move though by a company that has until now pushed privacy and not using the user for monetary gain.
Apple has always been about using the user for monetary gain. That's the point of a company -- profit by selling something to people or businesses (users).

How realistic is that? If there is a customer demand for AppStore that has no ad ? Supply/demand? Market mechanics.
You’re the one who said you can ditch the stores that advertise. Not much good if that leaves you with no store.
