The price has more to do with the poor currency conversion than anything Apple has against us. Everything else feels like Apple hates us though.

Oh yeah, I know the price is our dollar being terrible. I just meant that we're dealing with that combined with apple withholding features from us. Combines to make expensive devices (and plans since we can never seem to keep them and upgrade) and fewer features than people just across the border.

I really suspect Canada being left out has more to do with our banks than Apple.

Can we hope that they mention something about it in the fall when the new iPhone is announced? I was really hoping for them to say "...And Canada later this year!" so at least it was official. I don't mind waiting, but it'd be nice to know there is an end in sight.
I almost thought I read somewhere something about Canadian banks getting ready or being ready for it.

It's insane how Apple continues to leave Canada out of its products. Canada has one of the highest mobile usages in the world for the population size.

I've read that the major stumbling block are the big 5 banks and fees. That said a TD CEO had mentioned ApplePay in Canada by autumn. The infrastructure is already there as many merchants have the contactless payment system (tap) and the banks promote it on debit and credit cards. We'll see.

Yay, Nationwide will be supported at launch!

If anyone with Barclays or the Co-Op Bank wants to switch their account so they can use Apple Pay, drop me a message. Nationwide has a refer a friend thing where the referrer and switcher get £50 each, might be worth it!

Originally they said it was launching in March (obviously has come and gone). Now the latest bit is they're in talks for a November launch. I feel like that could come and go unless Apple officially says one way or the other.

Knowing my luck, and how crappy this country gets screwed (by our own people, not blaming Apple here), we'll miss out.

Utterly shocked and appauled at Barclays. I deliberately switched to them because they seemed to be 'up there' in terms of technological advancements like apps and online banking. No support for Apple Pay is a deal breaker and I'll find myself a new bank account if they can't fix this. Unacceptable.

I wonder how it is going to work for payments over £20 which is the current contactless limit (£30 from Sept). Obviously security should be covered by Touch ID but many retailers will have their checkouts programmed to only allow contactless for less than £20 amounts.

Yeah, I'm really looking forward to trying this out, seeing how comfortable I am with the idea.
The TFL usage will be handy for me too, always think I'm going to lose my card as I take it in and out of my wallet on the underground.

It's a constant downhill slide with them. My card was originally from egg, but when they got bought by Barclays, the cashback started going down; 5%, 4%... now just 1% on the Anerican Express version, and who uses or accepts American Express??!?
The appearance or Apple Pay isn't at all surprising, as the UK has been chip-and-pin for years, and half the terminals are contactless anyway.

Honestly, I thought this - but Nationwide really are at the forefront of things now.

They're working on an Apple Watch app, supported V.me from the start and have PayM support. Their app seems to be one of the better mobile banking apps around.

Really happy that HSBC was there. Usually they are the slowest to get technological bits pushed forward. Been with them for years so wasn't thinking of switching, just getting a new Credit Card, but seems that there's no need to! Roll on!

How will this work? If I have a credit card linked on Apple Pay for example my Amex, as well as a store loyalty card such as a Tesco Clubcard, Will I need to scan each one separately ?
