thats utter non-sense - there is no limit in UK when using Apple Pay. Some merchants may have not upgraded their terminals but in London at least that's no an issue at all.

You should step outside your London bubble more. Every petrol station I’ve been to and Tesco store has a limit, I’m sure it’s the same in London unless your implying Tesco stores in London are different?

I think people are getting confused with normal contactless payments via Apple Pay (£30 limit) and those terminals that actually accept Apple Pay in its entirety that have no limit.

I spent £63 in Aldi yesterday and paid with my Apple Watch and later on I spent £55 in Sainsbury’s and paid with my Apple Watch again.

Yes it is called CDCVM / Consumer Device Cardholder Verification Method which allows payments above £30 (or NOK 400).
After Apple Pay launched in Norway all terminals support CDCVM.

Have only encountered this problem when using Apple Pay before Apple Pay launched in Norway. Also in such cases all terminals supported CDCVM in March/April and Apple Pay launched in late June.

Some stores which accept Apple Pay above £30. Some of them I didn’t know about!

I’d question that second list as I’ve been in a BP station and they wouldn’t accept contactless over £30, when was that list generated?
If it was up to me I wouldn’t shop in Tesco either but...

Didn’t know there was a difference! How the hell are you supposed to know?

I don’t remember seeing the logo in somewhere like Waitrose though?
It’s not a shop I often use, but for example, M&S have the ApplePay logo on the wall behind the tills in my experience. And the terminals themselves will often show if it is accepted, but that is more useful at the self-checkout as you are likely to be paying more attention to the device before your purchase.

Asking the staff is usually worthless as they rarely understand the subtle difference between contactless and ‘true’ ApplePay...

Hello. I'm going to London next month and I usually just use the Oyster card I have. I like being able to see the trips on the TFL account. If I add the CC I use for ApplePay to My Contactless Cards, do the rides show up there? I hope this question makes sense. I'm not sure how else to phrase it. Thank you.

Some merchant’s floor limit have gone up from £30 in the past year or so; Selfridges, Zara etc have limitless AP spend. Some are yet to upgrade their POS hardware

Welcome to Beijing and Shanghai, in 2018

Technically this is a more advanced version of what they have, since it doesn’t require topping up or storing credit in advance. However that would only be the case if you get the same transaction/station information in this form as you do with Beijing/Shanghai/Suica... otherwise it’s still not as good.
