I believe Jersey Mike's is franchised. I was in one a week ago here in Phoenix and asked if they would be adding Apple Pay support. The cashier told me the owner didn't want to.

I've used it successfully at Circle K, Home Depot, Whataburger, and the vending machines in the office I work. The latter is far too convenient.
I actually asked the president of the local Jersey Mike's Subs for my state if they had customer facing terminals and he said they do, which means they should have nfc as they are supposed to have these: http://www.ingenico.co.uk/zee_uploa...llery/2654/isc250-overview-colorscreen-hd.jpg Did the one you go to have that terminal, if they do, the first light will be lit when its ready for you to tap your phone and Apple Pay should work. What I'm wondering is if anyone has used it at Fuddruckers, as the local one has a similar pos to Firehouse Subs which already supports contactless, so it shouldn't be that hard to do. I second Trader Joe's!

NFC, btw, can be (and has been for a few years already) built into existing credit cards. It does not require any kind of phone. And NFC is one of a few diversified payment systems including NFC, EMV chips, and (the effectively deprecated) magstripe. ALL of which already worked in some locations, even before ApplePay was announced, and the number of locations continues to grow, with or without ApplePay. My local regional grocery store chain supported ApplePay on day one - purely because their terminals were new(ish) and already supported NFC.

I live in the UK and all of my credit and debit cards have contactless - I use it virtually every day.

I was talking about the use of mobile phones to make payments - not contactless cards

I never said anything to suggest anything to the contrary.

So many people I work with are suspicious of Apple Pay and don't feel comfortable having their card info on it. I always then explain how secure and private it actually is as well as mentioning that its less safe to carry around a wallet where a card may be left behind or a waiter could be gone for 10 minutes to jot down the card and security code #s. If Apple can do an ad campaign to clarify the security features for the masses, many more people would sign up.

Educating the consumer is definitely a hurdle. Hell, you've got users here who think they know what they're talking about and are laughably clueless about how apple pay works and argue to the point of hilarity. Definitely a huge hurdle for widespread adoption.

Again, though thankfully apple is doing the push. It'll take a while but I think it'll get there.

Does anybody know if Raley's is supporting Apple Pay? I saw on keynote that they were gonna be supporting Apple Pay but when I tweeted them 3 weeks ago they said there not supporting Apple Pay at this time even though they updated there POS terminals

Regal Cinemas is listed. Has anyone ever seen a Regal Cinemas with NFC terminals? Maybe it's just for concessions.

I was thinking the same thing for Jewel Osco...don't remember ever seeing NFC terminals there (was looking the other day)...will be on the lookout in the future..

Don't know whether Target, Kroger and BP are part of CurrenC or not, but either way, after a while I'm sure CurrenC will fold quietly and the holdouts will eventually come around (at least those are the three I'm still holding out for.......)

What the Hell apple, when is ApplePay gonna work in canada? most retailers here have the readers already. I feel like I got an iPhone 6 with a feature advertised...but can never use it....

Been using Apple Pay at several Jersey Mikes in the Socal area for over a few weeks now. The terminal says "Slide or Tap Card". You have to do it after all the questions are asked. The person ringing out my order is always amazed when I do it.

Saying that "Subway", as in the entire company, doesn't support Apple Pay anymore isn't true. They are franchised so each store generally operates independently.

The Subway by my house uses a smaller terminal and it takes Apple Pay. The cashier had no idea until I used it.

Stores like Subways which are owned by franchisees likely have trouble with training because the franchisees don't have the resources to do so.
I was a "sandwich artist" before Subway used that phrase. (I worked in the first location to open in the state of Texas.) It grew phenomenally, partly because it was so cheap to get into. I've seen a lot of variance from store to store.

Did IOS 8.2 wipe out your Apple Pay? I just updated and all my cards are gone from Apple Pay

Oh god , well that would about end it for me. I dont want to screw around with calling the dam bank every time the OS updates. Forget that noise.

I updated to 8.2 and have no problems. All my cards are still intact. Just can't find enough places to actually use AP.

I have tried at several places where the green light is on, and they have the NFC logo displayed. I try using Apple Pay and it fails. Then the cashier looks at me like funny and I have to pull my wallet out to use the same card I have Apple Pay with.

So in my experience the NFC logo and green light doesn't mean all that much.

I can't wait for stores that specialize in products used above the waist to take it.

I'm not sure I want to know how you're using Disney products below the waist....

----------

PepBoys (at least the one I was at this week) now takes ApplePay even if it's not explicitly mentioned. Guy said they'd just gotten the new terminal; it showed the NFC logo on the display. Tried AP and it worked.

Home Depot won't work with Mastercard, and Jersey Mike's may not too, since they both use the ISC250's, or it may with Mastercard Apple Pay at Jersey Mike's Subs, if it fails try a Visa or Amex card in Apple Pay and it should work.

A point I didn't even think about. So if a store for example bjs doesn't take visa credit cards, apple pay will fail I assume?

I have not had an occasion to use Apple Pay once yet. I don't shop anywhere where it is accepted.
Yes that may be the case in the US which has always been behind when it comes to payment systems.

In the UK and especially London, NFC/contactless terminals are widespread and easy to use. There is a huge push to use contactless payments for all things in London now and if Apple Pay were to launch here, it would do incredibly well.

What annoys me about this article is that these companies have either added Apple Pay support to their apps or they just installed NFC/contactless terminals which aren't exclusive to Apple Pay as Apple Pay works with any NFC/contactless terminal, you just need a bank/credit company that supports their card being on Apple Pay.

Did a story on Subway in college around the time they became the largest fast food chain in the world (surpassed McDonalds). The cost to start a franchise was indeed a huge factor in that.

Yes if BJs doesn't take Visa won't work, but it may if its debit, but at Home Depot swiping a Mastercard will work, no idea when they will fix it if ever, and that is probably why Home Depot has not joined Apple Pay yet.
