They're not skipping anything, they depend on the banks and the payment processors (often linked to the banks) being on board.

In Poland we use contactless terminals in more than 90% places (To the end of this year it will be 100% - directed by law)

In fact many stores in Poland have even Apple Pay stickers..

Banks are adopting Android Pay very quickly and in few interviews bank's CTOs are telling that they want to implement APay ASAP.

One more thing, there are also lots of International banks in Poland like Santander, ING, City, Pekao (part of Unicredit), so i dont think that technology or neggotiations would be a problem.

No need for that... we have better solutions than Apple Pay already. You want to check out bluecode.com They've started in Austria and here it's widely accepted. As they use direct debit (Lastschrift) rather than the MASTERCARD/VISA system, fees are next to non-existing -especially compared to credit card transaction, which are both expensive and risky (for the merchant).

The low acceptance of credit cards in Europe (Apple Pay is only a wrapper for credit card transactions) has good reasons. The credit card system is, much like the whole US banking & money transfer system, ancient. If you want 21st century banking you are much better off in the EU than in the US. That said, even EU banks are far from being "technologically up to date". The only exception may be N26.com and possibly DKB.de
Your blue code is pure garbage.

Come on Apple, Europe has a Single Market now, why can't things like this launch in all of EU at once?

By the time  Pay expands across Europe, they will come up with a newer, better technology and we will get back from where we started. I have one advice for Apple. If you are not planning on expanding your services in a relatively agreeable period of time then simply don't expand it at all.

Agree - if they can't improve just stop it.
Also stop with Maps, Siri and other lackluster cloud services that are so far behind the nearest competitors that they became as ludicrous as hopeless.

Wow. Apple is struggling really hard to get any bigger banks to make deals with them in Europe. Time to open this NFC chip to everyone!

If it was up to apple then it would be already running everywhere, but it is not up to apple to decide sadly.

If it's sarcasm it's a good one but if it's not then god have mercy on your soul.

I don't think it was sarcasm but he has a point. I bet if Steve was alive  Pay would have been available across Europe.

Using that "if Steve was ..." phrase should lead to an automatic one week suspension from the Macrumos forums.
I think you misunderstood me. I was expressing my own opinion + I didn't intend to disrespect him. On the contrary I appreciated him a lot.

How? It's not even a question of who pays and how much and to whom.
He was more convincing. He could make both parties come to a mutual agreement faster.

German N26 Card is not working with Apple Pay yet.(region set to Italy)

Wow that is cool, considering how advanced tech is around here it will be a pleasure to use it in those 2 places where it will be avaiable... McDonalds and .... well I guess only one :p

We all appreciated him. Yet none of use know what Steve would or wouldn't do if he was still here.

You may actually have a point that his powers of persuasion might have worked on banks as well. It's just that this phrase you used has been so horribly over- and mis-used since he departed that it should be avoided in general.

I am glad we agree on the fact that his powers of persuasion might have worked on banks as well. I want to apologize if I have done some harm by using that phrase.
