I will always carry a wallet, and always have my id. I just feel that it is the smart thing to do, even though I've never been pulled over, or plan to go on a plane anytime soon. I just think that it's good to keep those thing on you. Plus, my phone has died while I am out and about before. What happens when you are relying on your phone to pay for you and whatever you are doing, and you discover the battery is dead?

What happens when you are relying on your car to get you 20 miles and you discover it is out of gas?

My credit union told me today they were not supporting it and didn't know if they ever would, I love the cu so not sure what to do but I hate to get left out.

Just talked with my local pimp and he said that he is going to accept apple pay with all of his girls

Unless you talked to the executive management making that decision, it's likely that the people you spoke to wouldn't know. PNC was announced at the beginning, and the staff at my local branch had zero clue - had never HEARD of Apple Pay - until I told them. So they would have told me that they weren't supporting it, most likely, had I asked.

I would check their web site periodically. I would suspect that credit unions will be later adopters since they have less resources to gamble with and will want to see how successful it is before commiting.

Can I use it with my drug dealer? J/K. I'll be using it. Am excited. I shop at Target and Whole Foods all the time and other places that have Apple Pay. Can't wait till Monday. I have Bank of America cards and other major cards that are applicable for Apple pay. ****ing eh'

I don't get why I'd do this.

I have to reach into my pocket to either pull out my phone or wallet. then I'd have to get into my phone, pull out apple pay, select a card.

or just pull out a card from my wallet and pay.

The wireless pay feature is supposed to have been available for Chase debit and cc cards for 1000s of stores in NYC for about something like 5 to 7 years; out of trying it probably 100 times, it's only ever worked for me once or twice

this is why I am still dubious

all these brick-and-mortar stores might SAY they're going to adopt the technology, but how many store wireless terminal/cash registers are really, truly going to work?...

Banks issue AMEX cards just like MC/Visa.

If you have a branded Amex card (i.e. issued from a bank), it depends on your bank and whether they joined the Apple Pay ecosystem. If you have a regular old-fashioned Amex (issued by Amex), you are good to go with Apple Pay.

Its wireless for like 6 inches -- from your phone to the reader. After that its hard-wired. Its not a big deal.

I have to reach into my pocket to either pull out my phone or wallet. then I'd have to get into my phone, pull out apple pay, select a card.

or just pull out a card from my wallet and pay.

Scenario 1 (paying with plastic credit card -- the old way -- which you mistakenly think is better):

1. pull out wallet
2. pull out card
3. swipe card
4. enter PIN or sign
5. wait for paper receipt
6. Realize you just transmitted your card details to your merchant who may be vulnerable to hackers using memory scrapers (i.e. Target, etc.).

Scenario 2 (Apple Pay):

1. pull out your iPhone (no need to wake it or open any App)
2. hold phone near NFC reader while touching fingerprint sensor (and default card you setup is used without you touching anything else).
3. receipt automatically appears on your phone (purchase done)!
4. Know that your credit card data was NOT transmitted to merchant and hackers can't do squat with your token that was transmitted.

Now which way is better again? And by the way, if you don't want to use your default card with Apple Pay, all you do is hold the phone near reader but do NOT touch TouchID. You are then presented with a choice of your Apple Pay cards (one touch to choose the one you want). Then use TouchID -- purchase done!

So your whole scenario is incorrect. Apple Pay is way easier and way more secure. Got it?

For the increased security, primarily. The fact that is takes about the same amount of time for you to do either is merely a side benefit. For me, with my phone in a belt pouch, I expect it will be quicker by a whisker or two to use Apple Pay.

Faster, easier and more secure to use Apple Pay (and faster by more than a whisker -- since, contrary to what most people think, you don't even have to wake your phone or open any app):

Actually, I take that back. Takes me more time to enter my pin (while shielding it so no one is seeing it) or to sign a receipt than the whole Apple Pay transaction will likely take.

monday night I will be making a trip to starbucks for a pumpkin spice late on APPLE PAY! then I will pick up some antacids at walgreens on APPLE PAY! haha

I will! when its available in my country that is... Can't take long. Most Terminals i see these days are NFC enabled. I have an American AmEx card, might try that(could possibly work?). That is if I find a shop that takes AmEx that is. Thats really rare here, just hotels far as i know

Target the store is not giving to accept this, target.com will at some point. They are a mobile partner only.
