This will be the bridge iPad. It will keep pencil 1 support for education, because schools have a stack of Apple pencils and Logitech pencils already. The iPad pencil 2 digitizer is not compatible with pencil 1. When iPad 11 comes out it will be pencil 2, and this 10th gen iPad will move down in price to approx. $329 iPad slot and be kept available for years for education. This is the most logical reason why Apple has done this. It is an iPad for the transition that they can keep around for years for education suckers.

The why do this release in the first place, when you keep selling the "old" 9th gen iPad?
Just to have a beta-test-device for the landscape-camera? Is there such a significant difference between A13 and A14?

I wonder how you tell the difference between first gen pencil and 2 gen pencil. I never had one.
Gen 2 uses a wireless charger. Gen 1 has a Male Ligthning connector on one end - so it can only be charged be plugging ints male connector into an iPad or iPhone. Don't know if you can charge it by plugging it into a mighty mouse or a magic trackpad. Dumbest solution ever.

Yes it does. Samsung Galaxy Note uses Wacom. I had a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 10 years ago. It had a landscape camera and speakers and a Wacom stylus.

Downpour was referring to the Wacom pens that are powered by the Wacom tablet, not by a battery, and according to this article the S-Pen has a battery which is charged the same way the Pencil 2 is charged.

Sure, they could have just kept the A13 9th gen iPad around, but I'm sure the A13 will not be available for long with capacity problems at TSMC. Apple probably also wants to streamline their chip offerings. And if the A14 and landscape camera would fit inside the 9th gen iPad they would have done that, I'm sure. But this is also possibly about streamlining the keyboard offerings, and I think the next iPad Air will support the Magic Keyboard Folio. And like I said, this 10th gen iPad is something for the next few years. For education, pencil 1 support is probably a priority, because mixing pencils would be a headache, and iPad purchases will be limited too if recession comes, and so schools would probably not buy any iPad that doesn't support the pencils they already have.

This works with the older Galaxy Notes and Surface Pros and don't require a battery

Requires a battery and is not compatible with every touchscreen device.

This delay is frustrating. I figured when I went to the Apple Store to get my new iPad, they'd have the adapters. They didn't. So, I ordered one on Wednesday and it was in the Nov 4-11 bracket. Apple stores still don't have the adapter.

To really frost my Wheaties, I can't use a USB-C to Lighting Cable, and the female lightning/female lighting charging adapter that came with my Pencil to pair it.

I've got two 1st Gen Pencils from my old 12.9 Pro, so once these things start shipping I will be good to go.
