Sarcasm apologies if it was not relayed as such or did I miss (/s). Point is Disney does family oriented shows very well and their have been doing it for a very long time, if Apple is interested collaborate with them as their already have a very good relationship. Besides Disney is planning on launching an online streaming service soon which will only benefit the end user vice another competing service/option. KISS.
Disney has already announced that Ant Man 2 will be their last streaming collaboration with Netflix. They are going full speed on their own streaming service soI don't see what Apple could possibly offer them. Disney's movies and TV will steam on every platform including Apple TV so why would they share any profits or content creation with Apple?

HBO is now owned by AT&T, and Mickey Mouse, Lord of Copyright Extensions, seemingly owns everything else. Congress has no idea how to deal with technology and Net Neutrality has been kicked in the family jewels and is writhing on the ground.

Like it or not, Apple needs to have some original content for the same reasons Amazon, Facebook, and Google (YouTube) do. Movie and TV content is being consolidated in the hands of fewer and fewer companies. If Apple wants to keep having an influence, like when they helped fight against music companies DRM'ing the hell out of music, they need to have the ability to counter companies using access to influence Apple's decisions.

Like AI, this is a long term game. They don't need to win, but if they don't play at all, they will lose.

Apple has close ties with Disney. YouTube Red I would not call it a success, Facebook forget it. Amazon not quite there yet. This leaves Netflix, AT&T and Sony. Some players may have been missed. Considering Disney has a very large and profitable media portfolio, I am unsure what Cook & Co are trying to accomplish.

Comparison of iTunes/Apple Music, is poor. Apple did not create a music studio and promote new artists/content. I am aware their did have the concert thing annually.

Netflix was a direct competitor for Disney. Apple not so, however there are making themselves to be. Apple and Disney have close ties, if Apple wants to produce something have a collaborated effort. Why would Disney want to work with Apple, not sure yet maybe more Disney AW faces. Anything would be better than “Planet of the Apps” or “Carpool Karaoke.”

Sillicon Valley has set the standard. U sure, Apple?
While I am a fan of Silicon Valley, it has lots of room for improvement. If they go a whole other season of just the lead actor ****ing **** up and always landing on his feet then they won't last that long.

This is literally not possible due to their agreement with Apple Records (Beatles). Apple Records felt they were breaking the agreement by selling music online.

Apple has a stake in Disney
No it doesn't. The Jobs family has a stake in Disney.

Jared Dunn is a pure treasure.
I find Jared the most annoying of all the characters on SV. I would rather watch Jin Yang than Jared. I refused to switch to Verizon because of Jared (same character).

Netflix was a direct competitor for Disney. Apple not so, however there are making themselves to be.
First. Anyone creating content (like Amazon) can also distribute on other services (Like Amazon). Second Disney has been in the cusp of releasing a streaming service for YEARS now. Disney is like IBM. They like testing the water a lot but will not jump in unless it can fully control it's destiny. Other Disney projects that they have "tested the market". Fruits and Vegetables, video streaming (Disney Now), cellular service, music concerts (they owned the 90's, they auto-tuned before anyone else), kid's entertainment, disintegrating DVDs (once the package is open you have 24-48 hours to watch before it becomes unwatchable), anything and everything having to do with vacations. They brought a f**king island!

Apple has close ties with Disney.
Close ties does not mean that Disney is their forever friend. Disney is a business monster. And as @wigby noted, Disney is coming out with a streaming service very soon. Apple has had issues both with Google and YouTube, and Amazon with Amazon Prime. Not assigning blame or pointing fingers, but business wise, the less leverage even a friend has on you, the better.

YouTube Red I would not call it a success, Facebook forget it. Amazon not quite there yet.
None of those services have to be a success and neither does Apple's entry into media. All these companies need to be able to do is provide consumers who subscribe to their service viewing options, even if only temporary, if content owners/licensers start to throw their weight around and remove their content.

Apple did not create a music studio and promote new artists/content
The music industry was not as consolidated and powerful as the cable TV and movies industries are trending toward. Apple has the same goal (keeping the content cheap, and relatively easy and painless to access) but must use different methods as they are not going to catch AT&T sleeping like the music industry was.

it would be nice if Apple bought the rights or get the license to show NBC's "Heroes" by Tim Kring. New Seasons would draw in audience and yield Apple Music/Apple Entertainment subscriptions

It'd also be nice if the former Apple Computer Company instead focused more on.... ah why keep complaining.

Apple should just buy Netflix... when your company becomes a verb. You know you have officially made it...

Disney could be a force.. imagine Disney doing all their movie portfolio... plus packaging all of fox movies... plus packing all their Disney live tv channels (espn, cnn, etc).. then packaging all of their Fox channels... it’s a catalog that nobody can match..

Am I the only one that still doesn’t know where to watch these shows? They apparently keep adding more from what I hear but there is absolutely 0 advertising and no other way of knowing than reading articles about it here

Let’s ignor the Mac hardware and focus on acquiring TV/Movie producers/writers/directors, these professionals can edit these Apple exclusive shows on their shiny new Windows/Linux machine.

Why can this company not provide importance to their core as well as new development revenue streams? The signs are becoming ever so clear, the Mac is a dump truck that lost its driver, wheels punctured, set ablaze and rolling into a pit.:p:D

Who do you propose will play Ives?
Omg, another one of these posts. You honestly believe a trillion dollar company can’t do more than one thing at a time? This is why you’ll never be successful.
[doublepost=1533879066][/doublepost]I’m
They’re spending more on this media crap than Mac Pro development.
I’m rather certain different humans do this than Mac Pro development. So... don’t worry. Not once ounce of resources was diverted I’m sure

I just really hope that Apple unveils this streaming platform along with some new content this coming September. It is annoying to read about all these shows they order without having any information about the platform.

I have no idea where this content will surface - apple music? New video service with almost no content at the start? Other?

But I've found their TV app a surprisingly compelling way to consume content across services. If they surface it there it might get some traction

Disney has their own streaming service so EVERYONE with a competing streaming service is a direct competitor. There is a reason why Disney won't go along with Apple's pricing for 4k movie rentals and purchases. They used to have closer ties to Apple but not anymore as far as I can tell.

Besides, the entire reason Apple is creating their own content is so that they're not beholden to anyone like Disney or Netflix or any studio for content. Partnering with any content creator would be taking a step backward for Apple.

I'm so glad I never went all-in and switched from a PC to a Mac computer. For one thing I could never get the same speed and storage for the price of a PC, and Windows 10 had improved so much over 8. But now seeing how Apple truly considers the Mac as a legacy piece I'm very, very glad I didn't switch.

I did buy a Macbook Pro just to play with it but ended up giving it to my 70 year old mother. I think she's more their target demographic at this point.

Heroes was an awesome show the first 2 years. It was a show about regular people having super powers. Then they changed the show into a show about super heroes and super villains. It was no longer fun.

“Success” is subjective, what is your definition? (Before I respond).

I believe you misunderstood the context, what I am saying and possibly others as well is that granted a 1 Trillion dollar valuation company can do more than one thing, however why is the Mac hardware and pros being neglected. If Apple’s other business segments were not so out of date people would not voice their concerns over experimenting with new business segments.

Remove your narrow minded thinking, stepback and look at the brighter picture. It’s similar to a parent who focuses on financial/career “success” and neglecting what truly matter their relationship with their children/spouse/friends and then trying to compensate for the lost time/relationship by purchasing gifts, going on vacation etc. One cannot purchase time.

Would it not be more beneficial for Apple to partner with someone who has experience in this area, gain some experience and then be independent. Producers, Directors, Writers usually spend a number of year under some mentoring program to gain valuable experience, being recognized and then branch out on their own.

This seems like Apple is just throwing money to gain any presence and hoping for success. Before iPod there was Motorola RAZR music phones, before iPhone there was iPod, before iPad there was iPhone, before AW there was iPhone. Before HomePod there was iPod HiFi, etc.

What is there before the Movie/TV streaming service iTunes/Apple Music, its not quite the same medium as one is audible and the others visual and audible.

We have all seen Apple’s initial attempt to jump into this alone with the success titles such as “Planet of the Apps” and “Carpool Karaoke.” /s
[doublepost=1533915442][/doublepost]
pretty sure Disney isn't worrying about this.

Unsure if the sarcasm was missed. ;)

I already pay $15 a month for family sharing Apple Music. I won't pay more money for original TV content. I have HBO, Hulu, Netflix and Amazon Prime.

I really recommend Apple try to replace HBO and simply throw a ton of money at shows that are epic, like Game of Thrones. Netflix has a ton of garbage and they are losing subscribers because of their strategy of having a billion shows. Instead, have fewer shows that are top quality. If Apple did this, maybe I'd switch from HBO to Apple.

Well, they all put out duds for sure. They don't need to have experience creating all the content, like feature films and documentaries. They buy the content and put their logo on it. That's what they all do. They go to Sundance/Berlin/Cannes/AFI/Tribecca/SWSX and see new content and then buy some of it.

But getting the guys behind It's Always Sunny in Philly is what you are talking about, bringing on people who have done it and are talented.
