Your mention partnerships but then list examples of previous iterations, not partnerships. Apple's past partnerships with Motorola for the Rokr smartphone, HP for the HP-branded iPod and LG for their UltraFine 5K monitor were absolute failures. I'm not saying all partnerships are bad (Apple and IBM seem to be having success together) but Apple was obviously a little soured on partnerships with consumer electronics because they always want control and usually fail when they do not get that degree of control they seek.“Success” is subjective, what is your definition? (Before I respond).
I believe you misunderstood the context, what I am saying and possibly others as well is that granted a 1 Trillion dollar valuation company can do more than one thing, however why is the Mac hardware and pros being neglected. If Apple’s other business segments were not so out of date people would not voice their concerns over experimenting with new business segments.
Remove your narrow minded thinking, stepback and look at the brighter picture. It’s similar to a parent who focuses on financial/career “success” and neglecting what truly matter their relationship with their children/spouse/friends and then trying to compensate for the lost time/relationship by purchasing gifts, going on vacation etc. One cannot purchase time.

Would it not be more beneficial for Apple to partner with someone who has experience in this area, gain some experience and then be independent. Producers, Directors, Writers usually spend a number of year under some mentoring program to gain valuable experience, being recognized and then branch out on their own.
This seems like Apple is just throwing money to gain any presence and hoping for success. Before iPod there was Motorola RAZR music phones, before iPhone there was iPod, before iPad there was iPhone, before AW there was iPhone. Before HomePod there was iPod HiFi, etc.
What is there before the Movie/TV streaming service iTunes/Apple Music, its not quite the same medium as one is audible and the others visual and audible.
We have all seen Apple’s initial attempt to jump into this alone with the success titles such as “Planet of the Apps” and “Carpool Karaoke.” /s

Unsure if the sarcasm was missed.![]()
You also seem to believe that Apple is going at it alone and producing their own content. They are not. They have been working with studio execs for a year now in creating and curating their own content. They have already amassed about 20 original shows with the help of studio experts that they have on their payroll. Why would they align themselves with competitors that don't want or need them?
Hit TV shows are not a science at all. The best minds fail all the time so the gamble between partnerships and Apple not partnering with anyone are not too far from each other. At least with their own content, Apple doesn't have to answer to anyone else and can succeed or fail on their own merits.
Also take a look at Amazon and Netflix and HBO's jump into original content to see many failures.
