That is a big number - Apple forecasting a LOT of demand for a larger screen iPhone. And they're probably correct - I'd like to see both, and as much as I like the 5 I'd like something with a bigger screen. I just don't know if I'll prefer the 4.7" or 5.5".

Er. What?

Personally I was thinking why are they showing that back when it's nothing like any of the leaked backs at all...

I think we were thinking the same thing then. Antennagate was an issue Apple had with the iPhone 4 because the cellular antenna was easily blocked. The full-metal backs would really hurt the signal.

I was just saying those are unrealistic mockups.

hope this means you will be able to pre-order it, unlike the 5s. want my iphone on release day and dont fancy lines

The waiting is the hardest part (credit Tom Petty)

Even if just half the rumors about features and iwatch tie-in are true, this looks to be an absolutely fabulous product.

I'm ready!

Even with 68 million orders I still think a lot of us will be waiting until March or April 2015 for our phones.

That many units has to affect the global price of sapphire.

Not really. It is produced by Apple and only used in Apple products. It cannot really be recycled too, so in total it doesn't really affect the rest of the sapphire market. Unless Apple starts to produce Sapphire also for other purposes and sell it to other manufacturers, but we have no indication that that will happen.

think about how many people left iPhone because the "screen is too small" . they're going to get a LOT of those customers back plus customers who have an upgrade PLUS customers who have never had an iPhone or have never had a smartphone for that matter . included is the fact that Apple does Reuse & Recycle so people can trade their phones in at Apple and have that trade-in potentially cover the cost of the new iPhone ? done deal .

it's gonna be insane .

Same here, squinting too much as I get older.

I kno wI am repeating myself 128GB please Apple!

Ahh tell me about it. My 32GB 4S has been crawling with the lack of storage.

I haven't bought any Apple product in a long time (2012 1st-gen iPad Mini), so I guess it's fair enough to spend my money on the most badass iPhone ever. I'll get the largest capacity, with the largest screen size available. ;)

The increased number is partly justified by people holding out for a larger screen iPhone, and perhaps even some people switching back from Android. Add to that the usual and always impressive demand for a new iPhone, and I don't think this will be a Blackberry-type situation where there are thousands sitting in a warehouse somewhere.

Unless there's a massive price increase for the off-contract version, I'll be getting one.

I'm so excited about the iPhone 6 that I'm expecting to break my contract to upgrade early... but I'll make the decision once a product has actually been announced!

Hopefully this is true... it's too stressful trying to order at 8:00:01 am on launch/pre-order day... :p

Usually happens at 3:00am my time. I woke up and ordered my iPhone 5 right at 3:01 last time. I plan on doing the same this time.

I am not optimistic on their new product. I don't feel much new things in their phones although numbers after the Iphone is increasing and Price Tag.

The Effect of Bigger Screen

That is reasonable, because the bigger screens will attract considerably more customers.

Although the iPhone 5s had a smaller screen than the mainstream smartphones, it managed to sell over 50 million units in its first quarter along with 4s and 5c. Therefore, an order of 68 million units actually sounds normal.

Is the 6 being made out of concrete? Not sure that's going to help it get much lighter.

i mean the black with black antennae breaks looks pretty close to that mockup as they do blend in(less obvious) than the silver.
im excited to go back to black finally after having the 5 for almost 2 years now.
