Hopefully a bump to at least 10 mp.

We have been at 8 since the 4s.

Yes i would like to crop without losing too much detail

Seriously, just go and buy a full frame digital camera (Canon 6D) if you actually care about your photos. Any upgrades to the iPhone camera will be minor (especially for noise levels in low light, and you will never be able to achieve narrow depth of field with a phone).

Well stated. Use your phone as a point and shoot replacement. Not a DSLR

I agree. I don't know why people want smaller digital cameras. I use my phone when I want to travel really light. And when I want proper photos, I use a decent camera. If you have to take another device, then the difference between a smaller micro 4/3s camera and full frame just isn't take big.

In theory this sounds great! No 3 month back order, but something tells me there will still be supply constraints on whatever model Apple expects to be the biggest deal. Constant media coverage about how demand vastly exceeds supply feeds the hype.

68 million and no powerball is involved...

I am getting excited, but this might mean that waiting in line on release day will not be as fun as it was last year. :(

This is great news but it still won't stop me queuing up early. Unless we can pre-order it (not order) and get it on release day, that's fine.

Too put it simply, I want to have the iPhone 6 on release day!!

Maybe this year we can actually have same day delivery like we used to before the iPhone 5s.

I'll definetly get it when my upgrade is available - but does anyone think those mock ups just look like an old iPod touch?

As a fan who plans to buy two (me and my wife), plus as a stockholder, this makes me :D. I find it very annoying launch after launch for Apple not to have enough supply to meet the demand, when they do have that horde of cash. Lost sales are inexcusable. Hopefully this will solve that problem.

Samsung Electronics must be [insert bad word here] themselves right now. They just announced YOY sales and profit decline (3rd straight quarter of profit decline) and this is before Apple's larger screen Phone has even been announced. All that money they spent on marketing and yet they couldn't buy brand loyalty.

Right now? They are manufacturing some of the A8 chips for the iPhone 6. So any [insert bad word here], if any, was done a while back. I'm not sure if weaker than expected sales are due to no brand loyalty -- though it is Samsung, not a particular endearing company just because its so generic -- or because Android users tend to be more miserly, and maybe less prone to need to upgrade even every two years like most iPhone users.

----

As for me, when I read this report I just have one word to say if its true... Pre-order!!

For sure. 68M is nuts.

What does Apple having a horde of cash have to do with this? Production has sooooo many variables. Any one weak link can kink up supply. It's not nec. something Apple can buy its way out of. In most cases they already contract to buy a companies entire production of a specific part. It's not like they are not buying enough parts.

Literally* wetting myself at the thought of a 5.5" iPhone. If they release both models in the autumn then 68m won't last until the end of the year, methinks.

*not literally literally.

I am not optimistic on their new product. I don't feel much new things in their phones although numbers after the Iphone is increasing and Price Tag.

Thanks for joining MacRumors, we look forward to more insightful comments! Could you please give us an example of an iPhone that has gone up in price when moving to a new model? I don't believe that has ever happened. However, since you said it, I assume its true.
