Some? I think we can expect to see a lot of switching to iPhone. A recent survey showed that one of the main reasons people switch to Android was the larger screen sizes that were available.

For sure, myself included. I switched to a Nexus 5 when it came out last year, but by January I had switched back to iOS because I could say without any doubt that I had a strong dislike for Android. Of course I said some because the majority of people don't switch phones until their contract expires, so someone who got a GS4, for example, may not immediately be in the market for a new phone.

Won't buy if they look like current mockup / leaks

Not a fan of current rumours, mockups, leaks, .... would take a CPU upgraded plastic 6c though. Especially for better reception and thus battery life over the aluminium models, ...

Android functionality just doesn't fit my style IMO

Hopefully a bump to at least 10 mp.

We have been at 8 since the 4s.

Yes i would like to crop without losing too much detail

Megapixels don't give you more quality.

It's easy to build a camera with twice the megapixels. Every pixel has half the size, receives half the light, and therefore produces lots of noise. Overall, the picture quality goes down. That's why in the latest iPhone, the size of each pixel was increased. The sensor got bigger, the picture quality goes up, especially in low light conditions (everywhere except the Sahara at noon).

If you want more megapixels, either buy a cheap point-and-shoot camera which gives you tons of cheap and low quality megapixels, or you need to buy a proper camera with a massive sensor and pay real money for it.

Selling

Selling this number is a given. It is just a matter of how fast. I'm surprised that so many can actually be made in just a few months. But really there is no chance that this phone doesn't beat 100 million in sales. And keep in mind that Apple iPhone models show robust sales well into their second year of production.

Still this is a major rumor. I wonder if the stock will pop this morning.

That many units has to affect the global price of sapphire.

Apple kind of bought out one of the biggest manufacturers. Basically, made a huge order, gave them tons of money to increase their capacity tenfold, and they seem to have stopped building sapphire crystal for anyone but Apple. That manufacturer's whole capacity goes to Apple. For the rest of the world, there is now one manufacturer less who you can buy from.

Seriously, just go and buy a full frame digital camera (Canon 6D) if you actually care about your photos. Any upgrades to the iPhone camera will be minor (especially for noise levels in low light, and you will never be able to achieve narrow depth of field with a phone).
I care a lot about my photos and videos. That's why I use FiLMiC pro and Camera+.

The bigger form factor with more "flat" space might lead to Apple being able to increase the size of the sensor again. I'd love it if the camera stayed 8megs and the sensor just increased. My 6 meg DSLR from many many years ago will still take a better picture than any phone ever made. One can't make the lense too much bigger, but I assume there is room to increase the sensor a bit more.

Right now? They are manufacturing some of the A8 chips for the iPhone 6. So any [insert bad word here], if any, was done a while back. I'm not sure if weaker than expected sales are due to no brand loyalty -- though it is Samsung, not a particular endearing company just because its so generic -- or because Android users tend to be more miserly, and maybe less prone to need to upgrade even every two years like most iPhone users.

As for me, when I read this report I just have one word to say if its true... Pre-order!!

My point was around the fact they're reporting YOY declines in sales and profits and the larger screen iPhone hasn't even come out yet. How many went Samsung because they wanted a larger screen? Also according to WSJ, TSMC is involved in A8 SoC production. I'm sure Apple is working very hard to diversify away from Samsung components as much as it can.

Great! The whole pre-order or get in line thing is stressful when you want the phone ASAP. I feel like we will be able to just pre-order and get it delivered like the iPhone 5.

I think we were thinking the same thing then. Antennagate was an issue Apple had with the iPhone 4 because the cellular antenna was easily blocked. The full-metal backs would really hurt the signal.

I was just saying those are unrealistic mockups.

I will venture to say that AT&T's unreliable network didn't help matters.

I can't wait. I really hope they release the 5.5" at the same time. Should be good news for aapl as well. :)

I believe I need to get some more shares.

How can I look impressive with my fancy new phone when there'll be 68million of the buggers knocking about at launch?

thats a lot of iphones

going to be curious how well they sell. (they'll sell well).

but Samsung just announced a big blow to their sales forecasts and claimed maturing smartphone market and shrinking growth.

IF that is true and the smartphone market is mature with a decline to growth, is Apple possibly counting their chickens before their hatched with such a large order of phones.

Yes, I understood your post. Maybe you didn't understand mine. It was only to point out Samsung had to realize Apple's potential initial production run much sooner than today because they are producing SOME of the A8 chips (Google it. ZDNet and BGR reported it last spring). Also since posting my initial message see the front page here w/ a note that Samsung also being part of A9 production.

5.5?

Am i the only one who doubts a 5.5 inch will come out. We keep hearing about if it will and if it will come out at same time. I don't believe it will. I hope it does cause i went away form iPhone after the 5s because i am i tired of a 4 inch screen however after almost a year i went back to iPhone. I think its in apples best interest to cover the bigger size phones now too but i am highly doubting it

If I had to put odd on it I'd say 60/40 it won't happen.

Possibilities:

1) Apple is planning a staggered launch like the iPad and iPad 33, iPad Air and iPad mini and it won't go into production until its announced to keep leaks at a minimum;

2) It was only an "idea" that made it to internal prototype but yet to be green lighted for production;

3) It's being manufactured in the U.S. where Apple can have a tighter control on leaks thus parts and diagrams are scarcer than the 4.7" being made in China.

That's what makes rumors so fun.

Well if this lowers waiting time between launch day order and delivery then I'm all for it! I seem to recall my 5s taking about 2 weeks to even dispatch.
