However Apple have usage figures and know that 16gb is more than enough for some users so no need to drop it. I'd much prefer a starting capacity of 32gb as it means my phone will be cheaper - but I can still see a place for 16,32,64 and 128 - Apple may even skip 32 and go from 16 to 64.

If only they can make 32 the base and keep price points the same...I can wish.

Regarding the two sizes of possible iphones .... Samsung does this with their galaxy s and galaxy note phones. Apple doing two sizes and possibly having separate launch dates for them would be copying Samsung. Samsung launches their galaxy s line in the spring and galaxy note in the fall.

Because they launch the phones separately, doesn't mean they're copying Samsung. Are you saying Samsung are the only company to launch separate phones at separate events? Or that launching two phones side-by-side would be copying what Apple did in 2013?

trade off though, is that by increasing the sensor size, you also need to adjust the glass in front of it. The glass has to be adjusted to allow for the maximum amount of light to fall on the entire frame. larger Sensors require larger openings, with more glass in front. Which, usually means the need to go thicker. I don't see Apple increasing the thickness of their phones just to add a few more Milimeters to the sensor size.
Easy solution. Make a version with a double battery and vastly improved camera sensor. +$100 and +margin extra 8%.

At their volumes they probably buy 32GB very close to 16 GB chips.
Would really like to know:)

why not make two sizes now to make everyone happy...apple could easily beat android if they just offered more sizes
No company can "make everyone happy". Samsung probably makes 100+ models of phone in over a dozen different sizes, yet not everyone is happy with Samsung.

There is no "Apple vs Android" competition. This isn't a team sport. It's business and success is measured in profits. By that metric Apple indeed does "beat" all the Android phone makers combined.

I'm thinking along those same lines... BUT... wait for the price. It will most likely be a show stopper for me.

A 128GB 5.5 inch iPhone 6 - I'm already assuming $900-ish price range, off contract. $499-$599 on contract are my guesses.

Ancient device with no LTE though.

lol @ Ancient device.

It is practically a cutting edge device compared to a 5s; no touch id, one row of icons less and a "ancient" processor. Big whoop. There are nearly no apps that do not work just fine on it and I can make *phone calls* like a baws. But it is "ancient". LMAO.

Samsung Electronics must be [insert bad word here] themselves right now. They just announced YOY sales and profit decline (3rd straight quarter of profit decline) and this is before Apple's larger screen Phone has even been announced. All that money they spent on marketing and yet they couldn't buy brand loyalty.

Lol, and you even left out the part that apple is moving from samsung as supplier...

But they can't lose, they have a enormous group to back up, and then, there's the Couth Korean government elite. The boss can't even go to jail after being convicted in court.

Not really Apples typical M.O. though to give that sort of choice.

the Iphone 6 rumours though are makign the 4.7" iphone really promising looking.

making me consider getting an iPhone finally. iOS8 looks to fix most of what I didnt like about prior iOS versions.

really wish they'd hurry up and announce this already.

how does that work?
you make 68m iphones and load the matured ios 8 together in sep, and in the main time they just siti n a storage while ios 8 is in its beta phase?

have there been any actual leaks of the 5.5 one yet besides random mockups? dont remember.

feel like only the 4.7 one is in production

Yea I'm thinking the same thing.

5.5" is way too big and don't think Apple will go THAT big right now if ever...

5.5 is hardly "way too big". Even bigger phones, like the Note 3, sell very good numbers and IDC says that "phablets" are 10.5 percent of all smartphone sales in the first quarter this year (and climbing). Apple would be dumb to not get into that market.

My 5 was backordered for about a month last time around. Hopefully it will be quicker this time. I can't help but think there is huge pent-up demand for the 6 though. I know a ton of people still on 4/4s.
