Why not just a 'Mac'?

Budget version of the Mac Pro Desktop, with easily upgradeable internals, to be hooked up to any external screen

Would make a huge difference to market share.

Apple don't care about Pro users. The Mac Mini is the cheap headless mac.

No, it's not a mid-size headless Mac that you can take apart and mess with.

Those days are over and that market is dying.

Just sayin.

I think they should get rid of the 13inch Pro. Just have 15 and 17 models, with the MacBook Air design. You'd then have the lighter 11 and 13 Air models, with the heavier 15 and 17 models. I think a 13inch Air and Pro may confuse the new/basic consumer. As for the Mac Pro, they need to change the case design. There are a few design faults with the case that haven't been taken care of; like how an excessive amount of dust can collect near the GPU.

Mac mini Pro

That is what I am waiting for years now. A small Mac Pro with only 2 bays for harddrives and only one slot for a graphics card, but with the same power than a Mac Pro.

Remember the Quadra 700?

I'll bet this is the TV.

Though I'd really love for it to be a MBP with an iPad integrated as the horizontal surface, I think they have a long way to go with both OS's before that'd be plausible.

Sure do. From 17 years ago. Which is where that idea will be left.

Why would they even think of doing this?

Maybe one of these....

- IOS only iMac, comes with a magic trackpad and no keyboard

- MacPod - a tiny pocket sized iMac, still would need mains power though.

- MacNotAsPro - a smaller cheaper mac pro

- MacBook Helium - has internal pockets of helium so it literally floats across your desk.

I'm guessing unifying their notebook line in the process. If the rumors of an ultralight 15 inch are true, combined with the inevitable removal of the optical drive, both the MBA and the MBP could become just the MacBook.
