I find it funny when Tim Cook states 2014 is going be amazing, and the first thing that comes out is almost at the end of 2014!. Are we going to have a sudden release of multiple items between mid sept to Dec?!

"Apple Planning Mid-September Event for 4.7-Inch iPhone 6, Timing of 5.5-Inch Model Unclear"

Yep - it's "unclear" because it's a rumour that is without foundation or any form of leak. It's "unclear" because it's a myth that the public have built for themselves, only to become bitterly disappointed when Apple don't deliver on something they've never once alluded to, ever.

"Unclear" is a poorly disguised way of journos and "experts" saying "Very, VERY probably no iPhone 6 5.5" after all, without losing face...

LOL

This. It gets tiring hearing about how excited they are about what they've got in the pipeline and how [insert chosen year here] is going to be big. They can't even refresh the mac mini or put out a new TB display.

Just curious, how do you manage to fit a device with a 5.5" display in your front pocket? If you were to move rapidly, such as at the gym, running, hiking, etc.... would it not snap in two / cover your entire thigh? and then to get it out of your pocket / more likely backpack, you have to palm it like a basketball.

Just curious. I'm sure the display is killer... and such.

I'm a fairly decent sized guy 6'1" 200 lbs. and I don't wear really tight pants so it's not an issue to put it in my pocket. I have medium sized hands and no I don't have to palm it like a basketball. The keyboard will shift over for one hand operation if you want, but I can still run it one handed for simple tasks. Using both hands really doesn't bother me at all. The LG G3 is actually very manageable for having a 5.5" display. It really isn't much larger then my Droid Maxi was and that had a 5" screen. Go to a store and check out the G3. You'll see that it's pretty manageable.

One hand usage is so 5 years ago.

No, it's not.

One thing I find very interesting IRL:
A lot of people with large screen phones (maybe as large as 5.5") trying so hard to use their phone with one hand, stretching their thumbs and changing positions. It's not that the other hand is occupied, they just want to use it with one hand, even if it's too big for them.

You could pay more attention and this phenomenon should easily be seen.

I pay attention plenty. I don't even use one hand all the time with my iP5S. Even in Apple's own commercials they are operating the phone with their index finger, not their thumb. And who games with one hand? Even taking pictures is better with 2 hands.

Oh God! Terrible! First world ridiculous problem right there

"One more thing" was Steve's thing... and it hasn't been used since before he passed away.

That's because he (not Apple) patented it.

I am not saying the problem isn't ridiculous. But this product is tailored towards first world folks; I feel it solves more problems than it potentially presents.

The " first world problems" argument is such an ad hominem. It's as if a problem or argument is invalid because there are people living in horrible conditions and starving somewhere. I guarantee (nearly) every problem everyone on this board has ever had has been a first world problem. So what?

Here's my guess: Apple unveils the iPhone 6 models on either September 9 or 10, 2014. Sales start on September 19, 2014 for the 4.7" model in the following markets: USA, Canada, South Korea, Japan, United Kingdom, and Germany. Sales in China--including the China Mobile version--starts on September 26, 2014 for the 4.7" version.

The 5.5" iPhone 6 model will ship on October 17, 2014 to the initial markets I mentioned earlier.

Gotta say I prefer the 5S design at this point. I'm not a fan of the super round look.

The round is so much better on your hands, and easier to grip. To this day I think my favorite iPhone is still the 3GS. The design wasn't great for table top, but lets be honest, whats more important with a phone? Table top usage, or comfortability in your hands?

These new phones look exactly like shrunken down (and wide-screened) iPad Air/iPad Mini retinas. I cannot wait. I will probably get the 4.7. Not sure I will want the 5.5, considering it would be getting close to the size of my iPad mini retina….and then its just like why do I need both then? lol

4.7 seems to be the sweet spot.

The last year will have been a great Apple year for me. iPad Mini Retina at launch, iPhone 6 at launch, and soon to also upgrade and get a Mac Mini! So stoked!

Maybe you're right. It will be more comfortable. Maybe I'm biased since I don't plan on buying the 6 anyway.

I see a 5.5 iPhone pretty much killing the 7.9 Mini, unless someone just strictly wants a tablet for their kids or something.

Yea i mean obviously its just my opinion but I just feel like it will feel better in your hands. The 4-5S models have those hard edges and to me just don't feel great.

I agree on the 5.5, thats what I was getting at. I don't think i would need 5.5 and my 7.9 mini retina. I will get the 6 because I'm not a fan of my 5C. I thought the plastic would hold up better with scratching and dents, in comparison to the aluminum….I was wrong! Plus the colors are so "powdery" can't stand the blue anymore. i want a new iPhone now! haha
