Don't freak out - they'll still offer the iPad Pro 12.9 1, the iPad Pro 9.7 1, the iPad Air 2, the iPad Mini 4 on top of an iPad Pro 12.9 2, iPad Pro 10.9 Pro, and maybe just sprinkle in a little Mini 5 and iPad Air 3 (both only with modest updates so it can't compete with the Pro 9.7 1)

Because why not throw it all at the wall and see what sticks instead of focusing an already all over the place and seemingly lost product line.

I'd like an upgraded iPad pro 12.9 for drawing, but I do love the sleek thinness (and surprisingly low weight) of the current pro.

Wonder if I should get a pro now instead.

Can someone explain to me what makes an iPad "Pro"?

I'm honestly curious on the facts here, because none of the rumored changes (nor the current specs) seem to.

The price.

But seriously, the main 'pro' distinction is Apple Pencil input capabilities.

Here we go again. Almost seems like Apple is throwing stuff at the wall to see what sticks... And what is with all the weirdo sizes? Any pixel density in any size can be made now. So, if the mini iPad is going to stick around, then for crap sakes, just make ALL iPads "bezel free" and release 7, 9, 11, and 13" sizes, all with the same CPU, and just call them iPads. Done.

It will be tough to sell new iPads until they find a way to obsolete iPad Air 2s.

I've got one of those and it is very powerful. I don't expect it to be obsolete really ever since reading and surfing web is part of its key aspects and it will always be able to do that. I guess audio control AI features is the thing that will obsolete it though eventually.

Sorry Apple is too busy building their office with world largest glass windows and worlds largest carbon fiber roof on a building. Making devices with the latest chips that run their software has to take a back seat.

If they do this, they should just get rid of the 9.7" model IMO..

The 9.7" model will basically be the new Mini, because despite the speculation about a Mini Pro, there doesn't seem to be much supporting that idea right now. So basically by removing bezel and the home button, the 10.5" model will have similar dimensions to the current 9.7", and the new 9.7" will have dimensions more comparable to the current 7.9" Mini.

Can't plug your fancy new iPad Pro into your new Macbook Pro for charging without buying an additional cable.

Apple, get it together.
