You would not have purchased two standard 14 and 14 pro max’s every year, this is the first time the 14 will have come out lol, however on another note, I don’t get why people buy a new phone every year, does the minor margin of an upgrade really improve your life so much? If so there is something wrong. bet If you did side by side blind tests you would not tell the difference between iPhone 12 and 13 in real life.

Have you considered "they just want to" as an option?

I buy a lot of shoes and handbags. I don't wait for them to break down or whatever. I just buy them if I want to.

I'm not over here hungry and homeless so why can't I buy whatever I feel like buying? Also, selling or trading one's prior iPhone does give the resell market a boost for people who prefer to get stuff at a deep discount.

None of the previous "Specialty" colors of the Pro Model really appealed to me. Stuck with Silver through most of them and got tired of the Pacific Blue pretty quickly. But if that Purple color comes to fruition, this is my year! 😍
I, too, have been awaiting a purple phone for a hot minute. Plus, my favorite number is 14 so... Apple can take my money. Again.

Are there any rumors about the Watch 8 actually having a new CPU? (The Series 7 has the same CPU as the 6; the 7's SoC package has a new part number, but the CPU subsection is the same.)

My old lavender iPhone 11 will always hold a special place in my heart, so I agree—although it’d probably be a bit silly to upgrade from the mid-cycle green 13 mini I bought back in March, especially because I do so appreciate its diminutive size (and because I’m not exactly rolling in the other kind of green).

Love the username by the way. 🐇🩸

somehow the new upgrade would benefit you ?

IMO a great update would be more RAM (than the 11 pro in my case): I'd really like more apps to still be in memory as I flip back and forth, instead of having to restart them each time I switch.

Or instead of more RAM maybe some kind of LRU memory compression which would enable faster switching than restarting an app from scratch.

That's why you get a watch.
Have a watch but sometimes still need the phone especially on holiday when the watch’s cellular connection is not active. Everyone has their uses for the various devices and a large phone just didn’t work for me.

They are rumoured to be sticking with stainless steel and be slightly heavier due to the larger camera bump and possibly slightly bigger battery. That suits me if it turns out to be true.
Unfortunately, next month is going to be a very expensive month for many of us. But it's worth it!
I’m pretty excited to see the new notchless front. And to see if there’s really a purple Pro, and if so, what it looks like. I hope I’ll be able to use the OLED display this year. Some models I can, some I can’t. Every new release, I just have to see how it goes. I was going to wait until spring for the spring color option, but if the rumored new purple is as beautiful as my purple 12 mini was, I can’t imagine wanting a different color.

In all honesty the notch hasn’t really bothered me that much. Still nice to not have a notch but again it’s an incremental step rather than a major update.

Life is too short. Time is running out. Join the excitement and you must order the new flagship color of the iPhone 14. Apple's Spring event in March 2023 is way too far. I'm not sure what other color Apple may bring but that is the 2023 problem. I'll see you on pre-ordering day all excited :)

Different segments could be recorded at different times. Tim could record his introduction shortly after the Emmys. Apple promotes TV+ at most of their events. If Ted Lasso, Severance, or other nominees pick up awards, they definitely will want to mention it. But we'll find out soon enough.
Looked at Apple's event last year and they didn't mention anything that has to do with Emmys or Ted Lasso. I'm pretty sure Apple will be busy announcing the iPhone, the new Apple Watch... Maybe AirPods and more. However, like you said we will find out soon.

I don't want joz announcing the iPhone tho. There has to be someone with more energy and excitement.

Not debt, just a big credit card bill that month. I'm lucky enough that I can cover bills for big ticket items.
That’s debt, though. From the moment you purchase the phone you’re in debt, until you pay your credit card bill. Then your debt is gone. If you have the means to do that it’s not a problem.

As a European I find it strange how common credit cards are in the US. Because everything you buy with it basically creates debt. In my country that’s very uncommon: you buy something, you pay for it immediately. You don’t have sufficient funds at the moment? Then you don’t buy it, and save for it and buy it later.

I wouldn’t like to buy all my stuff now and pay for it a month later using credit cards. I fear it could be a slippery slope, with the risk of people getting trapped in credit card debt.

Maybe it’s a cultural thing of the US vs. EU.

Not ever having debt though is very damaging when applying for things like mortgages and mobile phone contracts. It’s good practise to buy on credit cards regularly even if you immediately pay it off as this will boost people credit rating/score. Any financial advisor will tell you that if you’re applying for a loan. It becomes a problem if the person is relying on credit cards for purchases they can’t afford though.

Debt from buying a house is very common in my country. About 80 per cent of the population owns a home, all financed with debt/mortgage off course. That’s financially sound indeed. It’s even promoted by the government via tax incentives.

For most people that’s the only form of debt, though. Some also go into debt for buying a car, but that’s less common.

Debt for buying things like mobile phones, tv’s, etc is very uncommon over here.

But that’s all very off topic :)

I’m planning to buy an iPhone 14 Pro Max.
I wish no more “gate“ issues.

Past iPhone gates;
iPhone 4: antenna gate
iPhone 5: scuffgate,purplegate
iPhone 6/6 Plus: Bendgate
iPhone 6S/6S Plus: Batterygate
iPhone 7/7 Plus: Hissgate
iPhone 8/8 Plus: Crackgate?
iPhone XS/XS Max: Chargegate(fixed on iOS 12.0.1)
iPhone 12(all models): OLED-gate

Absolute nonsense.I’ve had all those models and never had an issue with any of them.

When I had an iPhone 6, I never had the "Bendgate" issue. With good reason: I got a Spigen case at the same time I bought the phone. I always have a case on the phone, especially given the price of a new phone nowadays. 😒💸

We need to invite Phil Schiller back to the stage. Phil!

If someone uses them right, they are a great convenience; even better if the card gets rewards. Heck technically utilities are debt unless you pay in advance equal or more than what you end up using.

Antennagate was an actual thing, though. So was Cracklegate. Quite a few of these were actual problems, come to think of it. Bendgate and Scuffgate were the two that stand out to me as being easily avoidable.
