It's a pity that clear cases always get lots of dust and fluff between them and the phone.

True, to an extent, but I love clear cases. I want to be able to see the colour and design of my phone. If it's a well fitted case and you make sure that it, and the phone, are clean when you put it on it shouldn't collect that much junk, and all it takes is an occasional removal and wiping down to keep it clean.

If this is the only official case, will definitely go third party or case less. A clear case for $40 is absurd.
Why? Apple’s silicon cases are $39. What’s different about this?

You must have a preproduction model to be able to share with such certainty that there are clear cases on amazon that are better quality! I agree with many of the other posters in here. My leather X case is by far the best case I have ever owned. I have had many clear cases that were garbage and were scratched up beyond belief after a couple months of use. I wouldn’t judge the quality of this case until I had one in hand.
There are cheaper clear cases. I’ve owned them. After a while my clear case looks like somebody pissed on it. If Apple has found a way to make a clear case that doesn’t turn yellow then it’s worth $40.

The Apple Watch sport bands are more expensive than the knockoff sport bands on Amazon, but the quality of the materials is much nicer.

It's up to the buyer to decide if the quality of the material justifies the price difference.

I'd have to feel the iPhone case to compare it to the feel of some of the cheap clear cases I've seen.

In the end, I won't be buying this because I have an iPhone X and don't use a case. The phone feels so much nicer that way.

iPhone cases are pretty great quality. But clear cases will still get dirty and look cheap. Not much point in forking out $40 for a clear case.

Breaking News: There are expensive versions of common things!

It’s just an accessory, get over it. No one is forcing you to by this over something you can find at amazon for much less.

$40?? What do you figure it costs to make? 30, maybe 40 cents?

How much does it cost to make a video game? 30, maybe 40 cents? Why do they cost $60?

Parts are not what makes up the cost of everything.

I'll plant a tree, cut it down 20 years later for the wood and make a table. Because I got the tree for free, I should charge for the table according to my costs and sell it for like $1? Or should I price it according to what people would pay for a premium hand-made table, like $2000?

Looks better than the case full of holes on the back they made for the 5C.
It makes sense to have a transparent case as the Xr has many colors.
For my Xs, as usual, I went for the original silicon case. It is pricey, but really good. The one I bought for iPhone 6 4 years ago is still pristine and my father uses it everyday.

I usually buy an Apple silicone case and/or a leather case for each new phone. I always buy a clear case, and I always buy Luvvit cases from Amazon. They're around $11 and they've never yellowed. I've been buying them since the 5S.

GTA V and MW2 together had a budget of 550 million dollars. So yeah. 30 cents.

I'm talking about when people moan and complain about the parts cost for iPhones, cases, etc. but always fail to mention the R&D. But when it's a video game, all people talk about is R&D, but not the actual cost of the physical media.

This won't be much of an issue for those with the yellow phone, lol. Maybe when the case turns yellow it will enhance the color of the phone even more.

I tolerate the high prices of Apple iphones...but i refuse to pay for their overpriced cases. Gotta draw the line somewhere. Lol. Seriously tho $40 for a clear piece of plastic? You could buy a knock off on Amazon for less than $10.

Well there's a lot of work behind the scenes to make an electronic device. A case is basically the work of a couple of guys over a week. All about the profit.

I just bought a perfectly fitting iPhone XS Max soft and thin clear case from Taobao for ~USD4.50 ;)

If literally every other Apple phone/tablet case is anything to go by, it will be overpriced and at best as-good as cases that cost upwards of 90 percent less.

hmm.. apple leather and silicone cases are 100x better than any aftermarket case i've used.

while i prefer leather cases for grip, this clear one isn't a bad idea to show off the colours.

So you've already held both cases in your hand and compared the feel of the materials?

If the iPhone case feels nicer than a $10 case, it would be worth the $30 difference to some people.

Then just buy a knockoff case on Amazon...

Not complaining dude. It’s Apple. I love em, but they’ve always done that with their cases. And i’ve always bought my cases from 3rd parties. No big deal. Just stating a fact. Without prejudice or emotion. Peace.

Considering it probably costs them 5 cents to make.
