It’s about Apple not being honest with people spending tons of money on a new phone.
This, to me, is the biggest issue. I use two SIMs, and was very disappointed to hear that I will not be able to use a banner new feature because I'm using another, existing feature.

If Apple had disclosed this up-front, I would still have been disappointed, but would then be purchasing knowing what I'm buying, versus finding out after-the-fact.

The article says dual SIM 5G will be rolled out later this year. The year has only about 2 months left. Can't you just use 4G for few weeks?
It seems it is better if people don't have 5G, because if you have 5G network and if you use Dual SIM, you are screwed royally until Apple fixes it. Your normal routine will be affected. The amount of inconvenience will be immense for those affected and we can't assume they are negligible since the pre-orders are in millions. If the same had come from Samsung, you could hear 5G Gate trolling everywhere.

Yeah, “fix it later”. This is the world we are living right now. Don’t accept it? Then don’t get any tech.

People are so hyped about this 5G s..t it’s ridiculous. Faster speed sure, but then? iPhone 12 is destined to be 5G beta testing device from Apple anyways.

Screwed royally? You think you are going to be one of few people, who get the speeds shown on the verizon commerical? Your normal routine will be affected? You definitely forgot: "/s".

Totally agree. Throwing the equivalent "of an online tantrum" as if the phone is unusable?

Blame Apple on the hype. I'm sure there are some areas and people with iphones in those areas that get a huge speed bump. But that population of people compared to the overall has to be infinitesimal.

Can't Apple tap that 2 trillion dollar ocean and drop the prices of the iPhone by a few hundred dollars?

I don't know about others but if I pay a premium price I expect a premium product, not a work in progress.
How's iPhone OS 1 treating you?

Agreed. This should have been made clear up front.

So, the small minority of users with dual SIMs will not be able to use the 5G network immediately. In the interim, they will have to rely on the 4G network which, in most cases, is just as fast and sometimes even faster.

Let the overreaction begin.
People are only overreacting as usual because it's Apple. It doesn't bother them, people just wanna hate on Apple just because. They would easily accept this had this been Samsung.

oh, and everyone would have been so understanding and forgiving if it had been Samsung or Google

Don't upgrade for the 5G. Upgrade for the return of Qualcomm modems.

That... and 5G :)
I live in a well covered area, so missing 5G for a few months because I use dual SIM is going to stink a bit. Guess I won't be doing a trade-in after all and will buy the phone outright...

I feel sorry for those who quickly cancelled their orders before this news update was published. 😅 [Not that sorry, though. Just a little. 😆]
Ha, don't feel sorry. To be frank I wouldn't even believe the people that said they did. It would be ridiculous to make such a knee-jerk reaction on an order 5 minutes after a news article was posted, especially on a rumor site. Anyone truly wanting this phone and truly needing this feature would've took an extra day or so gathering more facts and even contacting Apple first. Even more so since 5G is in it's infancy so it's not like it's going to be much of a loss.

Maybe this will be fixed in the iOS 14.1 release. It is speculated that 14.1 is specifically for the iPhone 12.

What are you talking about? It just defaults to 4G and life continues as normal.

The issue itself is really odd. I suspect it's both a device and a carrier issue that has to be addressed, but it's not exactly like it was a secret that this phone was coming, right?

The points about not having 5G anywhere are valid - if you're not in one of the three blocks that have mmwave, outside, with no trees or rain, and want to watch a 4K movie, the effective difference in 4G and 5G are essentially none.

But, it's not about the issue itself. It's about Apple's attempt to hide it, and only addressing it after information leaked. That's deceptive.

And now it raises questions about what else do they know doesn't work and are trying to hide?

It isn't a huge deal, but they say it supports 5G and they say it supports multiple sims. This limitation could be a major deal for some people, so they should have been up front about it.

Well tell that same "logic" to BMW and Mercedes because they constantly have recalls. I know this for fact because I work in the automotive industry.

If some one inadvertantly opted to go for the available 5G without knowing the consequences......thinking that it is possibled to make Dual SIM work

This makes no sense. How will it affect your routine? It will just use 4G instead, which is exactly what everyone's routine is.

This still makes no sense. The phone won't support 5G with the dual sim mode, but will still work with 4G. Every 5G network also supports 4G.

I would say Apple timing was very good considering preorders just went out a few days ago. Those who don't want the phone can cancel or return their phones. It's not like this news was discovered several weeks past the return period.

Screwed royally? Overreact much? Yes because THAT owner the other 5 people who have access to 5G would be "screwed royally" because their phones won't work at all without the 5G dual sim feature in action. SMH.
