Would be a nice surprise.
Don’t want to be too pessimistic but I fear that is being used as advertisement during the iPhone 17 campaign and we might won’t see the features until 2026 as part of an iOS 19.x release.
I wonder how they will spin this in 2025 after this debacle..

Now with Apple Super Intelligence?
Now with Real Apple Intelligence?
Now really cross-my-heart-and-hope-to-die with Apple Intelligence?

I wouldn't rule out the "Apple Intelligence" umbrella will disappear entirely to put an end to this confusing mess, they could focus on the functionalities as they are introduced - New Siri, Smart (whatever), etc.

I’ll believe this when journalists get shown a live demo.
I'll believe it when Siri sends more war plans from the White House to journalists.

Did MacRumors cover this story at all? I hardly saw anyone cover how that actually happened, maybe Apple buried the story or something. The intended recipient of the messages had forwarded an email from the journalist one time, which contained the journalist's phone number. Siri automatically pulled out the journalist's phone number and suggested it be added to the intended recipient's contact info. Subsequently when setting up the group text, they just entered the intended person's name and the journalist's phone number was what got selected.

Obviously a mistake was made in choosing to use a messaging app that allowed messages to be sent to people outside the organization, but also... I've seen Siri make plenty of wrong suggestions to add contact info before. How regularly are people sending sensitive info to the wrong person because of this, and it's just a lot lower profile so never makes the news?

This is what I want to be honest, deeper integration within my own hardware/account. Would love to be driving or sitting in traffic and ask Siri to text a friend the picture of a dog in my camera roll, then if there's multiple it would ask to clarify which dog photo (black lab or beagle), and sends it. Would also like it if I could ask Siri to purchase/see if things are in stock at stores near me since websites already list a lot of the inventory status; Siri, do they have any iPad Pro's in stock at the Best Buy near me and if so what are their prices? Please order <insert model> with Apple Pay and for local pickup (your voice would authenticate the purchase instead of faceID).

If you're gonna harvest my data then make it useful for me and my daily life. Could care less about developing a parasocial relationship with a chatbot.

These kinds of use cases would be nice, and I’d have a ton of them as well. It’s also a 100% certain it won’t be coming anytime soon on that level.

The geeks on this site like to think that the rest of the worlds iPhone owners think like they do on here when it comes to Siri, the big camera bump, the iOS redesign etc. Got news for you, the average consumer does not care.

I don’t understand why people are name calling those who are upset about the delay. The demoed features were used to sell the iPhone 16 pro. While I don’t believe in buying a device due to promised future upgrades, I do believe it is a deceptive practice that Apple has been doing for a while. They should not be allowed to get away with that and those of you who sympathize with Apple, you must not have much regard for integrity.

At the end of the day this delay is no big deal. have yet to find a normal consumer (ie: someone who does not read MacRumors or tech blogs) that cares about the Siri Apple Intelligence delays. Those of us who do are little more than a rounding error to Apple's bottom line.
Definitely not a big deal. The vast majority of people have no idea any delay or mishap even took place. Technically if Apple releases upgraded siri by the end of 2025, they haven't even missed the mark of anything they stated publicly for its release.

If that actually happens, the class action lawsuits will probably be thrown out because Apple said the Apple Intelligence features would roll out over the next year from the beginning.

We'll believe it when we see it - sorry Apple, you're in that category now.

Even if they release it I still don't have confidence it will work to the degree they say it will. Even ChatGPT has to be carefully watched and it's (as far as I know) the industry leader.

Gonna be a while before I trust Siri to do more than send a very simple text message, let alone edit a photo and then email it to someone.

Sounds like they are forcibly pushing it out the door before it is ready because of the lawsuits. The oft-cited Ramsey ad had a footnote saying that some features were coming next year, which puts Dec 31, 2025 as the latest it could launch to avoid false advertising claims.

Anything official from Apple never said these features were coming out as soon as leaks did. The only reason anyone was expecting them was because of inside info. It was obviously delayed from what they were hoping, but there was no deceit from anything Apple put out publicly.

for all the people making negative comments when you are the CEO of a million, multi-million, trillion dollar Company your comments might hold water, if you are unhappy with Apple products or services stay away from Apple and use Android. all the negative energy is not good for anyone.

Ignorance is bliss.

I respectfully disagree.

The criticisms of the gap between what Apple says and what Apple delivers are valid. Not only are they valid, but they are important to keep Apple accountable while also giving leadership valuable feedback as to why people may start leaving for other platforms.

I agree that incessant and unwarranted negativity online is a problem. I do not agree that the criticisms in this particular area are unwarranted or unhelpful.

They put out the WWDC 2024 keynote and an ad campaign. It promoted iOS 18 and iPhone 16. No leaks are needed for these expectations set by Apple themselves!
