Apple Plans to Release Delayed Apple Intelligence Siri Features This Fall

Bunch of whiners will still complain and only end up using it for a couple of days anyway, the same as if it came out this week.
Apple never said 18.4. That was all Gurman.
Apple DID say next year (in fall 2024). Some might argue that is fall, but calendar year 2025 is also acceptable. So it isn't delayed until after December 31, 2025.
The false advertising claims are therefore a bit premature.
They were always clear that apple intelligence would not launch with ios 18 and would come via OS updates. They said that some features would come by the end of 2024 and others would come in 2025.
Live demo is not the same as a simulated video.
I get the joke, but just want to make it - bleedingly - clear that a concept video is not, in any way, form or shape, an acceptable way to be demoing something...

For me it's better late with excellent security and performance than releasing too early with security and performance issues.
I wish we didn't live in a world where anyone thinks that these are the only options.
Why should anyone here care, one way or another?
Especially after most people have repeatedly and vociferously declared, multiple times, they don't want Apple AI on their iPhones and will immediately turn it off as soon as it's loaded by Apple.
THere's nothing to be unhappy about.
No they said it would come in the next year and these where iOS 18 features. They will miss the mark because it will launch, apparently, after WWDC 2025 with iOS 19.
What about Apple over-promising and under-delivering. They showed a video of features that the software team did not even have in concept. They used that video to sell the new iPhone. They are clearly not trustworthy anymore. I don't see why this is not relevant to Apple customers.
This is partly what happens when you exist only to increase shareholder value and not actually serve customers.
I'm hoping by the time I upgrade my iPhone 14 Pro that all this AI crap has gone the way of Force Touch, Touch Bar, and all that other gimmicky nonsense. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go yell at a cloud.
Can you point me to where they said this would be an iOS 18 feature and release before iOS 19? Why does wwdc 2025 matter? I think you are filling in blanks and/or making up details that don't exist.

Apple plans to release its delayed Apple Intelligence Siri features in the fall, according to a new report by The New York Times.
In early March, Apple said that it was going to take longer than expected to roll out the more personalized Siri experience, and that these features would be rolled out "in the coming year." Subsequently, Reuters reported that the Apple Intelligence Siri features have been delayed until 2026.
However, NYT reports today that its sources within Apple are still confident of a fall release. From the report:
The Siri features in question were demonstrated at WWDC when introducing iOS 18, and they were expected to come out in an update to iOS 18. The functionality includes personal context, onscreen awareness, and improved app integration. Here's a quick summary:
Personal Context
Siri will be able to track emails, messages, files, photos, and more – learning from your interactions to help you stay organized and complete tasks.
Onscreen Awareness
- Show me the files Sam sent me last week.
- Find the email where Sam mentioned ice hockey.
- Find the books Sam recommended to me.
- Where's the recipe Sam sent me?
- What's my passport number?
Siri will understand what's on your screen and act on it. For example, if someone texts you an address, you can ask Siri to add it to their contact card. Or, if you're viewing a photo, you can ask Siri to send it.
Deeper App Integration
Siri will handle more complex tasks across apps – things it currently can't do. Apple shared a few examples of what to expect:
Already, Siri has gained Type to Siri, a refreshed interface, ChatGPT integration, and improved natural language understanding.
- Move files between apps.
- Edit a photo and send it.
- Get directions home and share the ETA with Sam.
- Send the draft email to Sam.
Apple demonstrated many of the above missing Siri features in WWDC previews, and went on to advertise them on its website. It also promoted them in a since-pulled TV ad for iPhone 16 starring actor Bella Ramsey, as well as elsewhere. Apple has been sued at least three times over the delayed Siri features in California.

Or better yet…was anyone holding their breath for it last year when it was first announced? It comes as little surprise that it was entirely vaporware. No one has any confidence in Apples ability to improve Siri in a meaningful way under its current leadership. Siri has been allowed to languish for years and it was only due to the threat that falling behind on AI posed that made Apple take it more seriously. They should have been doing that already.
This leadership is the problem, and it always has been. Steve Jobs put Apple on such a powerful trajectory that they were able to be simple caretakers of the growth machine he left behind and it worked for a long time. But in the last several years, the momentum that he created has finally evaporated and it’s up to the current leadership to make things happen, and all they’ve done is try to figure out ways to milk blood from stone.
