This is the new apple - presents new features and releases without them.. then in a years time, most of them are actually released.. pathetic. this new iOS update came with what? coloured icons and ability to rearrange icons? pathetic x2
And you’re still buying these devices

Are you guys sure you’re not just copying MKBHD’s frustrations with apple intelligence not debuting with the phone? Seems like he trended this thought in his video review and everyone wants to repeat it because it’s popular.

it’ll come out whenever it comes out. I don’t think it’s going to be life-changing anyway. Just keep using your phones as tools and carry-on with yourselves.

Is there a feature list for phones that will not support Apple intelligence?
Oct 28th me:Hey siri please take me to so and so using google maps.

Siri: What time would you like to see the movie?

That’s called artificial intelligence ;-)

Really confused by such a posting… you’re member of an pretty nerdy iPhone/Apple forum. Tell me how often since the first iPhone did Apple release software updates on different dates to different regions? Couldn’t remember a single time. Doesn’t make sense.

You clearly aren’t understanding

Apple intelligence will be US in October and UK won’t get it until December. So yes if you are using US English it will work but not everybody wants to switch their region. Their are some differences

So yes for October 18.1 other regions won’t have apple intelligence and other regions won’t have it at all with 18.1

Thank you! I think the confusion arises from the language localization. My guess (and it is just that, because Apple's wording isn't very clear), is that all regions will receive iOS 18.1 in October, like you stated - however, your ability to use the first round of AI features, such as proofreading, notification summaries, type to Siri, will be dependent on which language (not region) you're iPhone + Siri are set to.

Depends what country you are in. Many will not have Apple intelligence with 18.1

Me: Siri, why is my screen frozen?

Siri: I found a number of user complaints about a similar issue related to iOS 18 bugs.
And have you done anything about them

Siri: …. I’m sorry I dissent quite catch that.

My iPhone 16 Pro Max was rebooting every 30 min and failed to save photos on iOS 18.1 developer beta 5. They have some serious work to do until gets out. Restoring it to 18.0.1 fixed it, but what a pain.

having used ai for all sorts of things I can see it has use cases in business. In terms of providing me ona personal basis with benefits in my day to day life I have yet to find anything where it adds one single solitary penny of benefit to my life at all. I would be happy not to see it on the phone at all. This viewpoint isn’t just restricted to apple intelligence but all the systems. The idea of paying 20 cents a month let alone 20 dollars is absurd from my perspective. Others may have a use for it but I don’t. Thus far on a personal usage basis it’s done nothing for me that I couldn’t have done better myself.

The one caveat on that is there may be some aspects like cleaning up voice in noisy environments where it has provided benefits.

So very pleased that with my iPhone13mini and iPadPro(4thGen) I won’t have to worry about Apple’s AI in the least after my v18.1 update. Maybe there will be something useful to me by the time I get a new iPhone and iPad, say the iPhone20mini (assuming they’ll bring back the mini form factor…certainly not a given), and the iPadPro(10thGen).

That’s true but this has nothing to do with the release schedule and rollout of 18.1

When WWDC happened, I was confident they weren’t ready to announce any AI. They hadn’t even rumoured to broker any deal between ChatGPT or Gemini at that time.

I ate my words, watching a massive unveil right at the end. So wrong.

But turns out I was totally right all along. They were indeed not ready to unveil. What a delay.. for ..custom emojis? Surely that could have easily shipped on day 1, what more work could it need?

This has everything to do with 18.1 seeing as Apple intelligence is the whole upgrade for the update
Think you don’t really get it. Any availability of Apple Intelligence has nothing to do with the rollout of the 18.1 update which seem to be scheduled for the 28th of October.
That was the discussion point. Apple intelligence won’t be available for us in Germany for example but that doesn’t mean there will be no update to 18.1 on that day in Germany.

No it’s you who’s not getting it at all

Where did I mention anywhere 18.1 isn’t coming out everywhere? Find where I said that. I clearly said which is what this topic is about is APPLE INTELLIGENCE! And that’s what I was talking about originally.

This is the problem when people assume incorrectly

We know it for months that the rollout of AI will be only in specific countries.

iPadOS 18 has brought so much lag and slowdown (to outright freezing up) to my iPad Mini 5

I'm enjoying 18 on my iPhone 13 Mini, but pretty much hate it on my iPad Mini so far

Absolutely wild that we’ve come to this point where they’re selling devices and carriers are promoting things that haven’t even released to the general public and the only disclaimer is some 12pt font on the bottom of the screen.

Unethical and frankly should be illegal (if it isn't already)

Not sure how much further down in the gutter we can go with the hype, marketing and BS from so many companies and folks in tech/influencers, etc

So? No one is required to buy the device at launch time. Even if some features aren't released for a month or several months after launch shouldn't really matter much as they will still be released. Most people buy smartphones for the long haul (around three years on average before upgrading) so not having everything on day one of launch shouldn't be viewed as that big of a negative. If everything is about features at launch day, why should Apple bother to do any iOS feature updates during the year?

When shopping for a smartphone, people should do their research and see what is available, what's expected to be available, etc. and buy accordingly. Buying a new smartphone the day (or so) it comes out is unnecessary.
