I've been here for ~5 years, and have lurked even longer, and I never reply to topics like this.
That said: HAHAHAHAHA @ anyone who thinks Nintendo is going to go out of business or get bought out in the next five years.
The Wii is way underpowered. No way it'll sell as well as the X360 and PS3.
... Oh wait.
Two screens?! HA! What a gimmick. You know they'll just toss out another GameBoy in a year! The PSP RULEZ!
... Oh wait.
The Gamecube didn't sell enough to keep Nintendo going!
... Oh wait.
The GameBoy Advance is doomed! The NGP is 16bits! And is backlit!
... Oh wait.
The N64 doesn't use CDs?! No way can it keep up with the PSX and Saturn. Nintendo is doomed!
... Oh wait.
The GameBoy is so underpowered. The GameGear will eat it for breakfast.
... Oh wait.
And so on and so forth.
Heck, watch this from the Christmas of 1990. We're talking 21 some years ago, and the national news was reporting Nintendo was doomed because of the upcoming Sega Genesis:

Nintendo has one failure: The Virtual Boy. One. And even then, the GameBoy brand was strong, and they launched the N64 the next year. Sure, you can say the Gamecube wasn't a huge success... but they still made a fair amount of profit. And they followed it up with the Wii and DS, two of the most successful gaming products of all time.
And another thing to keep in mind. Sony lost a fair amount of money with each system sold when they launched the PS3. As did MS with their 360. But guess what... every single Wii sold made a profit.
Any giant can fail. I don't argue that. But I'll bet anything Nintendo will most certainly be around in 5-10 years. And I'd be surprised if my grandchildren aren't playing their consoles in 40 years.
