Just went to the Apple Store yesterday and mentioned this thread. The Genius said that because they have multiple complaints from me on record (and one was even while I had Apple Care) that they'd replace the entire phone for just the cost of a new battery ($79).

I don't think it's fair I have to pay anything being that my 6's battery has been faulty nearly out of the gate, but hey, at least I'll have a working phone. Hope that helps y'all!

That does sound helpful.

I've been having issues with my iPhone 6 for a while, don't know when it started. Seems identical to the ones iPhone 6s's are having (Shutting down etc.).

It shuts down around 30% frequently, and misreports its battery status. Randomly drops in percentage. And often jumps up 20-30% when I plug it into a charger.

Have taken it to Apple several times, they tell me there's nothing wrong with the battery and it's likely a software issue. They've fully reset the phone 3 times now (Such a pain!) and the issue still persists. They've told me it is unlikely that a new battery will solve the issue, and asked me to fork out £280ish for a new handset... Obviously not happy about that, as I feel it's a manufacturing defect and was even told by there online support that I can get it replaced free.

I'm in no way trying to get a free phone out of them. I just want a phone that lasts longer than a couple of hours. Really don't know what to do other than hoping they do a replacement programme for the 6's.

As they reckon the battery is fine, and keep maintaining it's software (I'm now running stock...), it must be the phone itself. But how can I get them to see this so that they can replace it? Anyone know best course of action that isn't going to involve months of legal nonsense or 3rd party testing etc.

P.s. I haven't read the 8 pages... Just been searching and came across this thread. Thanks!

I have the same issue for a while now with my 6. Random shutdowns around 30% battery left, battery sometimes decreases from a higher amount directly to 2-3%, but if I charge the phone it jumps back to the former amount, and so on. I would like to go to an Apple Store to complain, but I'm out of the country right now and there is sadly no Apple Store around here.

See where you can get by phoning apple. As you said, in the chat they said they would replace it for free but that is a little informal- if someone on the phone says that they will do this then if it is later denied in the store, just emphasise that you've been told that it should be replaced and that they are messing you around. Hopefully their famed customer service should kick in at some point, after all, you have paid £550-£900 for a phone, it should last a bit more than two years. And the battery diagnostics are clearly rubbish- take screenshots of your battery life in settings to show how it drops stupidly fast/restarts with a higher percentage etc. Assuming the problem exists, this isn't about swindling the company; I think it's pretty reasonable for such an expensive phone to be useable after two years!

Thanks. I have been taking screenshots as it's impossible to replicate the issue (Despite it dropping battery before handing it to them last time, and immediately after they plugged it in, it went to 40%...). Can't see any pattern, there's no particular app that causes the issue and by the screenshots I'm getting on average 2 hours use per day out of the handset. Had another chat today, they checked brightness (Around 50%, just set to auto), and asked if blue-tooth was on (Yes, this can affect battery), wifi (This can affect battery), etc... I mentioned I had a 20 minute FaceTime call today and it went from 90% to 20% (FaceTime uses a lot of battery...). Anyway, taking it back next Monday and have been told over the phone to stress the issues. Reading this thread and googling has shown there's a number of people with similar issues, so hope Apple admit something's wrong as it's pretty identical to the 6s problems. Trying to go through UK consumer law now which I really didn't want to do, just hope the problem gets sorted! I'll update if anything happens.
