I can't believe Apple is actually going through with this. If they did show PC's, it may not be all bad.

We like competition.

Remember guys: Apple supposedly said "no" to 1000 other things to get to this "yes".

Here's a partial list of what was on the 1000:
  • Better battery life
  • More than 1 USB-C port on a laptop
  • Regular MacPro updates
  • 7200 RPM HDs for the iMac
Readers can fill in the rest.
Try harder.

Hm.
Well, it may not be House of Cards or Orange Is, or Bojack Horseman, but I'm sure somebody will think a documentary series about app devs interesting. Other app devs?

If Ellen Degeneres can have a show about furniture design and the Kardashians can have a popular show about... nothing, a show about developers working on the next great app should do well with the tech crowd.

While I doubt it will move any needles, it sounds like a cheap way for Apple to dip their toes into original programming. At the very least, it will put a spotlight on developers and apps which is always a good thing.

The perfect advertising vehicle for Apple Watch bands!!!!!

But seriously.....what is going on over there in Cupertino? Cars....TV Shows.....like someone said once....Apple with Steve Jobs is insanely great. Apple without Steve Jobs is just insane.
Suddenly this guy as an Apple employee seems less like comedic hyperbole and more like behind the scenes reality:

GOLD IS BEST!

A lot of keyboard haters frantically typing nonsense and attacking will.i.am.

How sad.

Get out and find your own passion. Clearly will.i.am has found his own passion so why cut him down?

You read this and you worry about the future of the company.

Surely there are more meaningful tasks Apple could embark upon inorder to maintain and improve the App Store. Instead of a retarded television show why not remove games from the App Store and put them into their own store front (Game Center)? This way actual apps can once again break into the Top Grossing lists. So you do not have nothing but games on the featured page.

There is so much low hanging fruit. That they are being talking into and doing this is very concerning.

Not surprising this is coming from Eddie Cue's division.

I think he seems like a fun guy and I liked The Black Eye Peas well enough. But so far his association with Apple has produced some trippy results that are a bit out there even for Apple during its jellybean computers phase.

I just see him partying with Raffi, chanting "Gold is Best". His association with Apple is nudging its image in that direction. Is it a good thing? Is it a bad thing? So far the reception hasn't been the greatest for the foto.sosho

I don't know how his Bluetooth headphones are doing but I've read they are odd. I can see with my own eyes they are definitely blingy.

But he may hit one out of the ballpark eventually. He doesn't seem rattled by the failures and seems to keep on trucking. That's cool. But this latest premise really does sound godawful. I'm surrounded by developers. My husband has been one and still dabbles. Watching developers develop is like watching grass grow and paint dry. It's not like watching people cooking in a cook-off or singing in a singing competition. I'm not sure what they will do to make it exciting. I'm almost afraid to imagine what they might try.

This one must be down to Schiller, he's worldwide marketing. This is symptomatic of the tired and hollow marketing machine that Apple has become. Where's the real buzz and product desire of old? Replacing old for new just doesn't appeal any more and that must be hitting sales (globally I mean, I don't personally have that much Apple gear!).

This is also typical of the self-centered, celebrity-focussed, narcissistic culture that now exists at exec level. If they have changed the core values of the company they should damn well tell the shareholders - at the moment I can't see any core strategy at all.

Yup, he's entitled to earn a living but does he have to do it on TV, the guy is just so boring. Loves the sound of his own voice yet had so little to actually say, thinks he's a Renaissance man, more like Elmer Fudd for the tech age.

Eddie Cue. I put any amount of money on it. This is from the iTunes division and the original content they are producing for Apple TV and Apple Music.

I can't see the point in this and it's of no interest to me, it looks boring and not something I'd watch, but I'm not arrogant enough to think I speak for anyone else and I sure it will be watched by many others.

However I'm genuinely struggling to believe that people really think Apple has put the entire company, it's huge resources, immense R&D facilities and ridiculous amounts of money into this one little project. Do you REALLY all think that, or are you just trolling?

There is absolutely no way this is being done in place of developing products. It's called marketing, promotion and publicity, it seems that many of you have zero idea of the business world or developing products. I guess the fact that some of you keep calling for a dead guy to run the company show the level of understanding...

If you genuinely think this teeny little project is taking the place of product development you may need to talk to a specialist and consider some therapy and/or medication to help you with your problems.

Will I Am? Apple is so embarrassing and behind the time when they try to be "edgy" and "hip" among the millenia. this year's Apple Music presentation anyone? stop it

You are right. Apple would continue to neglect much of their core business with or without this show being produced.

Agreed. Most of WWDC was unwatchable because of this.

I am understanding this will be like those countless shows about competitive cooking, competitive tattooing, competitive bladesmithing, competitive gold searching, competitive lumberjacking etc., just with nerds. "You have three hours to program Apple Music 2.0. The time... starts... NOW!!!"

I find it hard to imagine it's going to be popular with absolutely anyone, but what do I know.

I remember reactions like these when Apple launched Beats 1.

"A radio? Speaking people? How can Apple be so incredibly out of touch?"

Today, Spotify announced radio shows, they had to rush out something, seen the incredible success and relevance of Apple's radio.

Also, check out the Macrumors forum posts about 2001 iPod introduction:

"An overpriced mp3 player? Ridiculous, give us more powerful Macs"

I'm thankful Apple is run by such a extraordinaire team. They continue in their mission to give customers what they didn't know they needed, innovating on multiple levels in the process.

This army of whiners can only appreciate Apple's past achievements and will consider anything new a flop, or a mistake.

Macrumors forum reactions to Planet of the Apps is the best signal of its success.
