they will have to use PCs to produce and work on these shows. Macs are so outdated and certainly no enough powerful to do anything serious. Thanks Tim the second man who killed Apple after Sculley

I'm sure they'll be fine.

So much drama from your type.

On the plus side you will be a millionaire because I imagine you're going to short the stock before 'Apple is killed'.

The truth is, Apple have too much money.

They don't have a clue what to do with it, which is why we have this. Their narcissism expresses itself in many ways. In their share buybacks. They could increase the dividend instead, but they don't. In their celebration of endless vacuous celebrities. In their celebration of politics that stem from one man, Tim Cook. In their abandoning of their loyal Mac customers. Even iPad customers are now abandoned; Steve Jobs would have brought out a proper iOS tailored for the iPad a long time ago.

Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Today, Spotify announced radio shows, they had to rush out something, seen the incredible success and relevance of Apple's radio.

Is that true? That Beats radio is an "incredible" success and is culturally relevant? I don't hear "young" people or media type mentioning it like they do Spottify. I don't get any buzz vibe about Apple Music at all. Spotify paid subs are climbing at a fast pace too so can't say it's getting pinched. Apple Music certainly doesn't seem to have vanquished its competitors like the iPod you used by example did.

Ultimately it comes to this: old Apple took existing products and redesigned them in a way the changed how people do and think about things. New Apple takes existing products and wraps it in a "new" wrapper then stamps "amazing" on it. Eyes glaze over at its banality.

C'mon, you are going to support a kitschy named show about apps as if that is what Apple should be concentrating on? It's so beneath Apple to make what is effectively an info-mercial, not groundbreaking at all.

I can't see the point in this and it's of no interest to me, it looks boring and not something I'd watch, but I'm not arrogant enough to think I speak for anyone else and I sure it will be watched by many others.

However I'm genuinely struggling to believe that people really think Apple has put the entire company, it's huge resources, immense R&D facilities and ridiculous amounts of money into this one little project. Do you REALLY all think that, or are you just trolling?

There is absolutely no way this is being done in place of developing products. It's called marketing, promotion and publicity, it seems that many of you have zero idea of the business world or developing products. I guess the fact that some of you keep calling for a dead guy to run the company show the level of understanding...

If you genuinely think this teeny little project is taking the place of product development you may need to talk to a specialist and consider some therapy and/or medication to help you with your problems.
For me the issue is that Apple, for all their resources, do not project an image of a powerful, capable business anymore. They seem to be shotgunning a lot of seemingly trivial initiatives, nothing earth shaking. The execs just seem so self absorbed and more interested in celebrity and collecting awards (eg the disgraceful plaudits for Ive from Oxford and Cambridge), the keynotes are cliched and show no genuine passion, intelligence and vision - they just don't inspire or shout "leaders".

Trump misread the article title and wanted to know if Apple could wait till after November when he will have free time. Wanted to apply for being a cast member in Planet of the Apes. Figures he could be the best orangutan ever., just the best.

Sorry Donald that was Apps not Apes.

Have you even been to Austin? It's one of the top tech cities in the world.

Get over yourself.
Tech cities need to get over themselves. It's 2016. Plenty of skills outside "tech centers" thanks to online courses and kids self teaching themselves.

Zero reason to think a city should have any type hold on talent. There's a whole country out there with talent.

Limiting the talent pool from places like austin, ny and la is like limiting your food source to Iowa.

Timmy, stop flirting with every idea but updating the pathetic Mac lineup.

It hurt to upvote this, but what is going on with Apple at this moment is really sad.

There is no positive in saying Apple has no time schedule (duh) and does things their way , when the competition knocks out the latest tech (faster chips, more memory, etc.etc.) for months on end.

Wish they would think differently!

It's amazing how people still behave like Apple is run in a garage, or it's starved for money.

Apple has over 100.000 employees, the deepest cash war chest in the world. Apple can, and will, concentrate on multiple projects in multiple areas. Get used to it, as this attitude is going to blossom in the near future.

Apple will be a much bigger, very diversified company in the future.

As for the reality show, what topic is hotter in the new generations than apps? Snapchat, Pokemon Go... Apps is basically where people live now.

The subject is certainly interesting, and if the execution is right it could well be a success, and create a positive feedback loop towards Apple. Not to mention the VC, promotion aspect. Ckearly, you're not a developer.

Finally, about Beats 1: I'm in the music industry and being featured there means your career has started. It's the industry reference, and all that in one year.

At first I read it as "planet of the apes" and thought to myself, that a planet of the apes tv show, might not be a bad idea.

Then I clicked and read it again and the description.

Cringe.

I remember reactions like these when Apple launched Beats 1.

"A radio? Speaking people? How can Apple be so incredibly out of touch?"

Today, Spotify announced radio shows, they had to rush out something, seen the incredible success and relevance of Apple's radio.

Also, check out the Macrumors forum posts about 2001 iPod introduction:

"An overpriced mp3 player? Ridiculous, give us more powerful Macs"

I'm thankful Apple is run by such a extraordinaire team. They continue in their mission to give customers what they didn't know they needed, innovating on multiple levels in the process.

This army of whiners can only appreciate Apple's past achievements and will consider anything new a flop, or a mistake.

Macrumors forum reactions to Planet of the Apps is the best signal of its success.

Sorry to disagree. There hasn't been any innovation other than spec updates for quite a while now.
Making devices thinner with revolutionary welding techniques or iCloud and other services which suck isn't what the consumers needed. And, they know it!

Usually when Apple enters a field despite it being crowded, they displace and disrupt.

Their current hardware line up is non existent and superold technology. I can well remember when they launched a new product and I really wanted it. That has not happened in years.

Using Apple since 1984 with all it's highs and lows.

Let's just hope it's only a valley of boredom they are in right now, but the rah,rah of having more exiting projects in the pipeline than ever for the last 25 years is embarrassing.

Apple TV "hobby" could and should have been a real game platform and Xbox competitor, but somebody fell asleep at the switch.

Somebody please open the pipeline or at least unclog it a little, so it drips out something we can use.

Hint: The watch wasn't it!

Hmm...I don't here anyone I know buzzing about Spotify. They're not buzzing about Apple Music either. They're streaming music services. I don't think they're a big deal to anybody anymore.

Eddie Cue. I put any amount of money on it. This is from the iTunes division and the original content they are producing for Apple TV and Apple Music.
Yes! At this point I think dear old Phil is ready to jump out the top floor window. He is the only normal noncrazy one left.

I know Apple can work on more than one thing at a time, but this seems so frick'n odd. I think it goes to show how high of margins this apps have compared to prioritizing hardware updates.

I'm sure they'll be fine.

That was the only film you could find? That is not new and was pushed by Apple. They got paid to use the software....look it up. Also it has been proven that Apple has been seen NOT using Final Cut.

Good point. I added a pic of Eddy to my post about Raffi the "Gold is Best" spoof guy and Will.i.am. They all do belong together.

That's all I know of. And they finished on time and under budget. I think if a Hollywood film can achieve that then Apple will be fine producing a simple TV show using the software - if they want to. OP I was responding to made the case that Apple would have to use PCs. Which clearly isn't the case.

1 film is better than the vapour rumour you've presented. No?

Given that the iPhone alone makes 60% of Apple's revenue I guess Tim is a money man and does not care about technology, therefor he doesnt care to provide the best PCs or develop a new OS for iDevices. He cares more about trends like TV shows and coloured bands.
