They were and are steamrolled because they are way more expensive than they should be. Apples big margin, especially on computers, are not in line with the rest of the market. A Mac that packs the same internals as a Samsung laptop costs twice as much. So at the end, it is corporate greed.
Can't disagree there. It's always been my #1 source of frustration with Apple, the audacious margin hunger. But I'm still buying their stuff like a sucker, so...

Yawn

Yawn! Where's the beef? New Mac Pros please. And perhaps some beefier Mac Minis to complement the Pros.

JI = Pompous Ass

How does anyone at Apple think the Jony videos add value to their company?

Is it just me, or is Jony turning more and more into a parody of himself with each new release? I can't watch these things anymore with the volume on.

With all due respect, i hope they do keep the 16gb configuration as the min. I dun want to be forced to pay additional ~$100 for space that im not gonna use

In a parallel universe where Apple doesn't go crazy, you finally get your new 32 GB entry iPhone for the old 16 GB price. That's the logic behind technology evolving and getting cheaper. Not at Apple headquarters though.

And how does it change the fact that 5c is still not affordable for those who couldn't afford iPhone 5?

The segment that can't afford a product wr buy it in any country. The 5C is appealable to a larger group than the traditional iPhone was in the past. I think it'll do quite well in the Chinese market. And now with the path cleared fur China Mobile I think it will show through.

Incidentally the younger and middle aged Chinese market find many Americsn products desirable. There's so many knockoffs there. My wife and I have enjoyed taking advantage of that sentiment with a trustworthy pipeline of Americsn products.

Yes, embarrassing, because there was nothing new to sell.

Certainly nothing that required "magical" or we are excited, new blah blah blah

Listen to him talking about the polycarbonate shell. It's like he's talking about a diamond or something. Settle down bro, it's just one piece of plastic attached to a glass screen.

I got 30 seconds in and had to stop after hearing "The iPhone 5c is simply and unapologetically, beautifully and seamlessly one piece of plastic which seams are essentially non-existentally visibly shown."

Was that a joke, are those words? Ok that's not verbatim, but still... PUKE.

Yea... no kidding.

Each to his own but isn't massive storage kind of a 2005 thing? I've gone way down in storage requirements on mobile devices since the olden days when I wanted my entire iTunes library in there. With all the streaming services available for video and music today, cloud storage to dump big files to and so on, I've got 19 GB free on my 32 GB iPhone and 15 GB on my 32 GB iPad, yet they're crammed with apps I barely ever use. I get all my music through Spotify, it's a gazillion terabyte iTunes library at your fingertips.

I get that people have different needs, what I'm saying is that on average the need to stockpile everything locally has gone down, not up, and the pressure on Apple to deliver more and more storage for each iPhone iteration ought to have plateaued somewhere around the time they hit 64 GB. And Apple is not exactly known for catering to, er, 'special interests', as fans of the 17" MBP know.
Undoubtedly that's the excuse most companies are using to justify charging people roughly the same money for increasingly cheaper storage. Personally I have iTunes Match on my iPhone but streaming all music over 3G/4G would deplete my 1 GB of monthly data in a matter of days. On top of that with the iPhone 5S expect much larger games to be released. Can we run those from the cloud as well?

I really dislike how the case for iPhone 5C looks.

The holes, come on. How could it exposes 'hon' part of iPhone text?
Where's the symmetry? The small an sweet details :apple: really excel on?

They should make a special hole to fit "iPhone" text neatly and hide all FCC license texts behind.

No way in hell would Steve Jobs have allowed this.

I don't understand all these claims of iPhone 5C being tagged as a "low-cost" device. All I saw were two expensive new iPhones being released. Nowhere on their website does Apple describe the 5C as low-cost, it's £469/$549. We all know you need a decent salary or very gracious parents to afford it.

But Apple could have really got their hands dirty if they had introduced it at $49/month for iPhone 5C and just discontinued the 4S altogether.

Yeah, unfortunately Ive has become more and more of a parody of himself. I love his design work, but the fancy words and head tilt schtick is getting really, REALLY old. The way he babbles on and on obsessively about miniscule details like some Rain Man is just sleep inducing now.

The schtick had more relevance when he was talking about big stuff like the MacBook Pro unibody design and manufacturing process, but to use the same approach for trivial trinkets like the 5C cases ("...the soft, matte, microfiber lined silicon is a very intentional contrast to the glossy hard-coat finish of the iPhone..." - cool story bro, wanna hear mine? Once upon a time, nobody gave a ****. The end.) is complete overkill that just begs to become an SNL mock commercial.

I honestly think Federighi should be promoted to the new face of Apple, he carries the Steve Jobs torch better than any of the other clowns and his segments of the keynotes are the most enjoyable, informative and upbeat. Schiller's sweaty wart collection, Ive's autistic ramblings and Cook's nauseating accent ("gorjez ret'na displaaaaurghhh") kill the excitement.

Amen to all of this. These launches are getting more and more dreadful each time around. Next time, just update the store, send out a presser and be done with it if there is really nothing better to talk about.

Fair points.

One Thing Only

They only add one thing 'Touch ID'.
I'll stick with my 4s till more Apps for the Touch ID.

Sold all of my AAPL :-(

I really don’t understand the 16gig starting point… With the INSANE file size for videos these phones use I tend to use that up really quick. It never fails, every damn time I try and film something with my 4S I get a “memory full” error. It’s my fault for getting a 16gig in the first place because I like to shoot lots of video. But I am sick of dumping my videos to a computer so often and don’t want to pay $400 for that 64gig. I feel like 32gigs would have been a perfect place to start with this new phone. It’s a good thing my 4S still looks brand new, because it’s going to have to stick around for another year.

Wow, lots of Ive hate in here. I remember a time not long ago when people here were clamoring for him to be the new CEO. As for the videos, they're no different than any other year, including the Steve years. Besides, Steve was no stranger to spouting ridiculous hype himself. Maybe he'd love this stuff.
