Same here(skipping this one). Bring on the 4.8" and 5.5" iphone 6 models Apple!!! :) keep the 5c for the folks who want oldschool iPhone size. Just add some manly colors to the lineup. Lol I'd only take a white or yellow. They couldn't make a black one???

Anybody who is on MR is obviously going to be disappointed, as almost EVERYTHING was already known and the presentation only confirmed that all the rumors and pics were correct.

Its' kind of when a child gets to know his/her Xmas gifts and there is no surprise left.

So, don't read MR if you want Apple to surprise you. They will not be able to shut down any leaks. Triple down on secrecy or not.

My 4S is fine and the current 5S doesn't have enough compelling features to spend more money.

The camera improvements are nice, but not a must have.

Neither is the fingerprint sensor.
I'll live with the annoyance of having to put in a code or leaving it with
no code.

I was hoping for a 128GB and don't understand why they are still starting at 16GB. Yes, I know iCloud etc. but I don't like that, plus I do have apps that do not work well, when too many other apps are open (Sirius)

Colors do not entice me either as they perform no functions.

Since iOS 7 will make my 4S feel like a new phone I'll wait for #6, but full well knowing that this entire category has matured to a point where not much more can be crammed in.

I do believe Apple will eventually have to cave in and offer larger sizes.

All in all this presentation was a washout for those following MR.

Not sure how anyone can listen to Jony Ive anymore without bursting out in laughter. A plastic iPhone 5 is "magical"? Seriously?

On top of that I can't believe we're still not seeing any increased storage after all these years. The last time we got double the storage for the same price was in 2008. After that, nothing.

Lame phones.

I don't understand how Apple can turn from being the industry's innovative leader to industry's follower in the space of just a year or so.

Tim Cook clearly needs to go.

He has turned the iPhone screen size from a non-issue into a massive issue that resembles one of dogma and religion.

Never mind the tasteless colors of the iPhone 5Cs -- I just don't understand why Apple can't release versions of the iPhone with bigger screen sizes.

It is almost as if Tim Cook is getting fixated with sticking to the current screen size no matter what, even if it is very clear that many consumers want and require a bigger screen size.

And Tim Cook has very foolishly spent the better part of the past year blindly defending the iPhone's screen size, even when many analysts have pointed out to him that the way forward may be to have versions with bigger screens so as to give consumers a choice.

What notable thing has he done as Apple's CEO other than blindly defend the iPhone's screen size?

And just look at Tim Cook's performance at the presentation, it reeked of fakeness and staleness.

I do worry about Apple under him.

Apple's Board of Directors needs to get its head out of the sand and find a competent CEO and fire Tim Cook.

Apple needs a CEO with vision, charisma and innovative ideas -- not some operations drone.

i don't really understand one thing and i wonder if someone can explain it as i read a lot and maybe dont fully appreciate the detail.

Currently i use an iPhone 4s 32GB, this cost me £599 back in 2011 (unlocked)

The new iPhone 5c 32gb (unlocked) is £549, £-50...hardly a saving really.

The Nexus 5 16gb (dont think they did a 32gb) when it comes out will be what £300?

i was personally hoping for the 32gb 5c to be priced around the £400 mark or does that seem unreasonable and whats so radical about this to stop me wanting a Nexus 5?

these videos make me sick to my stomach

steve would have never allowed this

Did you know Steve Jobs? The great thing that made Steve jobs a genius is that no one knew what he was thinking.
Under Steve we got the iPhone 3g, 3gs, 4, and 4s and partially of the 5. Did you really think apple would change their strategy because Steve is gone.

Not ridiculous at all really in the grand scheme of things.

In 2011 I paid £699 (un-locked) for my 64GB 4S, as it cost the same or more with an upfront payment and monthly cost's with any decent carrier I was prepared to use.

Buying the phone unlocked meant that I actually saved money, about £20 based on the 2-year contract costs. I have an O2 sim only plan and get freebies every time I pretend I am switching carriers... If you can afford to buy it outright it is always best, as there are no 'deals', only 'pay now' or 'pay later' with extra on top to cover the interest. Also with the carrier only supplying a sim, they work harder to keep you, as you are not captive.

For me, Apple are asking for only £10 more 2 years on for better tech, so I do not feel hard done by. I can also sell my current phone (unlocked at any time) for on average £300, but I will probably pass it on down the family chain.

I take your point but the smartphone market has changed a whole lot in the past 2 years. There is a lot more choice now. A lot more really good alternatives that cost a lot less than the iPhone.

I was watching the news channel this morning and they were talking to an expert in China about Apple's chances with the iPhone 5C over there. Basically he said Apple's price was exactly double what the competition are charging and that there is no way Apple are going to sell many of these in China at these prices.

I will be very interested to see the sales numbers into next year once we get the initial launch period out of the way. Apple's smartphone sales in China have plummeted in the past year.

An army of colorful, magical, innovations.

The next CEO of Apple?

Jony Ive is now beyond parody...he is so pretentious he could be a lost Dali artwork.

Second best post of the thread. :D

While there's poverty in China to be sure there's also money there. Big money. I don't think you know China that well.

Big money already bought iPhone 5 and will buy 5s. 5c was targeted as a cheaper alternative for those who can't afford standard model. And it failed since it's still way too expensive.
I don't think you know me that well :p

I don't think I've seen this many people disappointed or complaining about an iPhone update. It's interesting to observe as people are buying what suits their needs verse the trend or what "side" their on.

With that said, this is an update for 4S (and previous) customers. They're gaining a lot of new features and improvements with the 5s. Better design, battery, camera, processor, screen, flash, and to top it off a fingerprint reader and motion sensor. This isn't targeted at iPhone 5 users. Most brush this update off as "better camera, faster and fingerprint scanner" but that's only true if you currently own an iPhone 5. I tend to upgrade every year but this year I'm very hesitant because my iPhone 5 works great.

I don't think people would be as upset if Apple introduced a new design to go along with the 5s but it just doesn't work that way.

Personally, I'm looking to switch to Android because it fits my personal needs better. The whole which platform is better is stupid and pointless to bicker over. What suits someones needs is far more important.

Big money is not merely the high-end, but the sum of the entire marketplace.

iPhone 5S vs. Droid Mini

Same RAM (2 GB)
Same storage (16 GB)
Same size, weight, almost. So close that it makes no difference.

Screen size, Droid Mini's is bigger
Resolution, Droid Mini's is higher
Battery, Mini's lasts longer
Front AND rear cameras, Mini, more megapixels. according to various reviews, also better pictures.

Price: iPhone $199, Droid Mini $99. How is this even a competition?

Don't even get me started on the ability to sideload apps vs. having to play inside Apple's walled garden.

I've owned 3 iPhones, including my current 4s, and I wanted to give Apple one more chance with this announcement before I made the jump. Seriously, when a phone that you haven't even put in stores yet is behind the smallest Droid phone (which has been out for months) in almost every aspect, it's not close.

apples and oranges, you'd probably be satisfied with both. iphone is more up front but will be worth more the following two years...

Can we all stop calling the 5C the "low cost" - "emerging markets" version now. It's not low cost at all, it's the same price as it would have been if it had just been the old iPhone 5.

In fact - it is the old iPhone 5 but with a slightly bigger battery and a new case. My guess is that Apple (or rather its manufacturers) would not have been able to make two versions of the overly complicated iPhone 5 design with its silly glass windows and chip prone alloy chassis in enough numbers and at a cheap enough price to be commercially viable.

So in order to keep the profits up, they decided to knock up a cheap plastic case and put the old 5 internals in there instead, candy coat it and tell the masses its a brand new product when actually it's just a warmed over existing model. I bet they will sell shed loads!

BTW if you're planning on getting the iWatch (or whatever they call it) in the future, then go for the 5S, coz it looks to me like the new M7 chip it has inside is designed to take on the motion sensor monitoring work for that device. Thus making the iWatch thingy cheaper to produce and making its battery last longer.

Finally the gold colour looks terrible - I bet it's resale value will be lower too.

well said.

So will iPhone 5 be able to do burst mode with the iOS 7 update and slo mo? Exactly what software features will the iPhone 5 be missing

great! i love the iphone 5S, the home button is a great place for the fingerprint scanner.
btw, did anyone else noticed that Ive hasn't changed a BIT

Each to his own but isn't massive storage kind of a 2005 thing? I've gone way down in storage requirements on mobile devices since the olden days when I wanted my entire iTunes library in there. With all the streaming services available for video and music today, cloud storage to dump big files to and so on, I've got 19 GB free on my 32 GB iPhone and 15 GB on my 32 GB iPad, yet they're crammed with apps I barely ever use. I get all my music through Spotify, it's a gazillion terabyte iTunes library at your fingertips.

I get that people have different needs, what I'm saying is that on average the need to stockpile everything locally has gone down, not up, and the pressure on Apple to deliver more and more storage for each iPhone iteration ought to have plateaued somewhere around the time they hit 64 GB. And Apple is not exactly known for catering to, er, 'special interests', as fans of the 17" MBP know.

Sometimes it feels a little heavy handed.

Yes, JI is still my favorite Apple guy... but they gotta drop this ridiculous pandering and just be REAL. All of the speakers come across way too polished and cheesy with their stupid jokes and forced dialog. Just speak normal fer Christ Sakes. If I wanted to watch people talk phony into a camera, I'd put on re-runs of American Chopper (or any other reality TV show).

It's a tightrope walk... history repeating itself. Apple wanted to sell quality and taste, and was steamrolled by Windows. Now they're getting steamrolled again by the plastic Samsung/Android juggernaut. If defending a market share is corporate greed, then it's a crime they have no option but to commit, with shareholders breathing down their necks.

They were and are steamrolled because they are way more expensive than they should be. Apples big margin, especially on computers, are not in line with the rest of the market. A Mac that packs the same internals as a Samsung laptop costs twice as much. So at the end, it is corporate greed.

With all due respect, i hope they do keep the 16gb configuration as the min. I dun want to be forced to pay additional ~$100 for space that im not gonna use

Glad to see my predictions come true: People will complain no matter what Apple does.

Why even have tech blogs/comments anymore. The tech community is dead; what was once rational thought and sensible discussions has been replaced with trolling and Google/Apple/Microsoft fanboy wars.
