I was looking forward to this keynote but honestly, it was underwhelming as I didn't find the reality living up to the hype. Personally, no other Apple keynote has lived up to the hype since 2007 when the original iPhone was announced.

Watch.... I'll pass. I'm not a big fan of wearables and didn't see anything to differentiate what they are doing from anyone else.

iPhone 6.... Hardware upgrade as expected.

iPhone 6 Plus (iPhablet).... I'll pass.

Pay (I bank).... Probably the single most impressive and innovative thing I saw this keynote. Yeah others have NFC but seriously, no one has done it right until now.

Tim Cook: "Today we are launching the biggest advancement in the history of iPhone." I'll have some of whatever he's smoking. Other than a bigger screen and NFC I'm not sure what else it has. Barometer? Astonishing.

Chassis so advanced and thin we couldn't fit the camera in! (And we also couldn't colour in those pesky bands) And the crowd goes wild at the "even thinner" announcement. In fact that was the biggest cheer of the event. Well, that's why your battery life isn't a full 2 days folks, so applaud till your hands hurt. Which they probably will when you use your new 6 for more than a few minutes because hey, bigger and thinner over comfort and function. It's *really* thin!

If I ever upgrade my 4s (and don't switch to a Nexus) a 2nd hand 5s is more tempting than a 6. Could wait for 6s but it will have the exact same chassis. I'm not particularly roped into iOS though. I'll cope with buying Whatsapp again...

I was watching the horrible live stream while it was messing up and going back and forth between blogs. Now watching the actual keynote, I'm a lot more impressed. Then apple watch looks way better than first impression. It took less than a day to grow on me. But...I still don't see a real need for it in my life. My fitbit will stay on my wrist for now

It's certainly smoother than the live stream was! And without the double soundtrack and voiceover, it's a pleasure to watch this time.

Watching an HD movie over a 2400 baud modem was better than the live stream.

Mrs. thequick was unimpressed until she saw the gold one.

Then she perked up.

:D:p:D

Thanks for pointing that out. That was my question, thought it was unacceptable that the stream was so glitchy!

Exactly! You would think they would have the live streaming silky smooth by now; it felt like they let some intern run the whole thing.

Absolutely loved Tim Cook’s performance. He was so lively, joyful and smiled a lot. I used the think he was a sour, super-serious person who was only there for the boring numbers. He’s becoming much more the face of Apple lately that was vacant since Jobs passed away. The crowd went crazy when he said the magic words ‘one more thing’ (even a standing ovation). Yet he remains humbler than Jobs and also puts his team into the spotlight, something which Jobs never did (if I remember correctly).

I also liked this geeky Apple Watch presenter (I forgot his name). Spoke clearly and showed his own personality. He didn’t seem familiar though, is he a new addition to the team?

Why such a delay for the podcast version?

I don't see a podcast version published yet. If Apple can post a streaming version they can just as easily post the podcast version at the same time.

I plan on checking out the podcast on my iPhone tomorrow while out and about. Streaming won't work for me.

Too many people flooded the servers, so it just kept crashing or restarting.
And the audio feeds were getting mixed up so we were getting chinese translations at the same time as Tim was speaking.

Audio goof and just general under preparedness from Apple for such an epic live stream event.

This wasn't a server-flood crash. Even the Apple TV stream was doing competing bands right from the 09:45 start. Maybe the other band stream was what became the Chinese (?) overdub - I don't know. This was fixed about 30 minutes into the presentation.

The video had been OK, although with the extra audio, but right as the event started - everything died. Errors on Apple TV, "test pattern" on Safari. I had to quit and restart safari a couple of times but got "some semblance" of the presentation.

But the stall, dropouts and freezes continued.

This was, without doubt, the worst Apple presentation I have ever seen (and I have seen quite a few). I don't know what failed but this part of it wasn't being handled by Apple directly - it's all done by specialist contractors (think: WWDC). Apple does the organization but other folks set up and run cameras, do TV/satellite links etc etc.

For these folks, Wednesday will not be a pleasant day.

Did I miss something? What was the big white structure outside?

Have you seen the articles on this and other sites about first hands on experience of Apple Pay andiPhone 6? That area was a pseudo showroom for the journalists to go through and play with the devices so they can then report on them.

Mirror Link

Does anyone have a mirror link to the keynote? The link on apple's site does not work, and I can not find anything on youtube.

Podcast are up for Standard (~1.4g) and HD (~4g). A few minutes ago it was only the HD, so maybe 1080p will be up shortly.

If "biggest" was to be taken literally (and in some ways Apple likes to play with words like that) then it can be seen as the biggest iPhone advancement (going to 4.7 and 5.5 inch screens).

They were not getting mixed. Because the english stream was being overflooded, the asian stream was diverted to new streamers. Pretty smart.

Hmm, I can remember so many Apple streams which crashed froze thousands of times when watching, this is no exception. For me, an easily watchable Apple live stream is a rarity.

Yesterday morning's live stream was Horrible. Apple needs to get their money back for that Livestream bus that sat outside that building.

I was a little creeped out by the sharing of heartbeats over a lunch date. Mrs. thequick was looking at me like, "should we get these two a room?"

Where is the captioned version?, just downloaded podcasts of the SD & HD versions and none have captions poor.

With what limited hearing i have Phil sure says the word INCREDIBLE a lot.
