This wasn't a server-flood crash. Even the Apple TV stream was doing competing bands right from the 09:45 start. Maybe the other band stream was what became the Chinese (?) overdub - I don't know. This was fixed about 30 minutes into the presentation.

The video had been OK, although with the extra audio, but right as the event started - everything died. Errors on Apple TV, "test pattern" on Safari. I had to quit and restart safari a couple of times but got "some semblance" of the presentation.

But the stall, dropouts and freezes continued.

This was, without doubt, the worst Apple presentation I have ever seen (and I have seen quite a few). I don't know what failed but this part of it wasn't being handled by Apple directly - it's all done by specialist contractors (think: WWDC). Apple does the organization but other folks set up and run cameras, do TV/satellite links etc etc.

For these folks, Wednesday will not be a pleasant day.

Agreed on all parts here. For as bad as the stream was, Apple should at least issue an apology for how bad the live stream was. If we few here are complaining about it, imagine the millions of people (and yes, I'll say that a good million were watching this) around the world were complaining at the same time.

Yes, it was our choice to watch it, but if they were going to hype this as they did, and advertise that it would be live, the stream came 'not as advertised'.

BL.

I wonder if anyone will be fired for the live stream cock up today. That was embarrassing.

I tried watching it on my iPad. I quit counting crashes at 10. It was no better with Chrome. The live stream was bad at best. I ended up watching it later last night.

I counted 17 uses of incredible by Phil along with 11 beautifuls, 5 amazings and a few stunnings and bests thrown in along with a single magical. Tim was heaving on the amazings and bests.

Beats this live feed:

Did anyone happen to capture a screenshot of the 'TV-truck broadcast testscreen (with the schedule 'n'all)'?
