So do we have to use the "Erase all content and settings" option before doing the OTA update, or is it like the last beta?

Looks like they STILL haven't fixed Apple ID iCloud migration for MobileMe users.

For those not in the know, those people who use MobileMe as their primary email address *cannot* use that address as their Apple ID for iCloud, but must go to some other service, even creating a new address on a competing service, just to migrate their Apple ID.

Edit: I should state that my frustration with this is not a "release is coming, fix it!" attitude, but that this is by design as a result of a limitation, and they haven't even indicated that it's a bug or that it might be corrected in the future.

I think this was released so soon after the last one, that we're seeing the final beta here. Quick releases indicates there is no actual feature work left, but only polishing. And this quick releases probably implies that there is not even many bugs left to fix either (at least not bugs scheduled to be fixed for 5.0.0). Can't wait!

I don't think I understand you.

I am a MobileMe user. I used iCloud.com to migrate my MobileMe over to iCloud, I am now logged in on iOS 5 with my MobileMe address as my iCloud account.

Is this not what your saying?

If your Apple ID predates your MobileMe account and thus all your iTunes and App Store purchases are attached to it, you're forced to change it to be an email address rather than a username, and you have to manage two accounts as your MobileMe information is still separate. When I got MobileMe, it was strongly implied that it was under my Apple ID, only discovering recently that it is not and Apple has no way of merging them. After looking around the web, this appears to be a rather common case.

Does anyone knOw if iTunes beta 7 will trumP beta 6.1 with iTunes match? I don't want to lose that!

I'd day this is more of an issue with transferring the license of your music purchases - in fact, I'd bet the publishers have some archaic condition with Apple regarding this.

Hopefully they'll allow transfer / consolodation - particularly with non-apple related accounts. My Apple ID /developer account (and the account I have made all purchases with on the app store / iTunes etc) is a completely unrelated email address. I then also have a mobileme account, and additionally an iCloud account that was offered to me when setting my iOS5 beta up initially. A little silly. I'd pay a once off fee to merge them all under one @me.com Apple ID
