I have done this update over the air and now it has gone into recovery mode...

Download iTunes beta 7.
Download the full iOS5 beta 7.
Connect your phone and do a shift-restore and select the beta that you just downloaded.

For Beta 1 or 2, don't remember, I setup as new but then restored my old backup so I had all my contacts and texts. Is that the same thing? I haven't done it since then because they were OTA updates.

Not really. Set up as new means totally set up as new. As in you set it up like you first got it.

Yes, to get around it use the iPhone config util.. its mentioned back a page or two..

Put in on our 2 iPads, 2 iPhone 4's and one touch. Beta 7 is SOLID. Only had one with the disappearing photo's bug which was easily fixed with a sync.

One thing i havent heard too much about is the constant safari crashing. I don't use the iphone safari that much so not sure about its stability, but on my ipad it just constantly crashes. Sometimes when theres something a bit data intensive, you can almost see the gears grinding away and then safari crashes. At other times, pages will load fine, i'll then be 2 minutes into reading an article and out of nowhere safari just crashes. Apart from one beta, i think it was 2, where I didn't have too many crashes, all the other betas have just been horrible in terms of safari.

Have alot of people been experiencing this, or am i one of the rarities in this case, so maybe its something with my device?

It looks like they changed some of the current smilies. The ! and ? used to be red and are now grey, and it looks like a couple of the hearts changed, as well as the stars.

Nice find. I would have never noticed it myself. They also added one new Emoji to each category.

Yep. It's makes me mad that this big of a bug made it through beta 7.

After updating to beta 7 from beta 6 (OTA Update) my cellular network doesnt work anymore. Well, actually it not that easy... The Menu where you enter the apn, username and password is gone and nowhere to be found.

Looks like the apn settings are gone and I cant enter them again because of the missing Settings tab!


My phone is german, so Ill try to translate the menu buttons below:

"In Settings" -> "Network Settings" i can activate 3G and mobile internet (cellular Data?), but there is no mobile internet settings (cellular data settings?) showing up after that. nothing.

anyone having the same issue?

This update was a step backwards for me. The YouTube app dosent work anymore, and I can no longer sign into iMessage. Other than that I can't find any problems besides still not being to sync my iPad 2 with iTunes.

Just delete all songs from your device and resync with iTunes. This has been mentioned numerous times on these forums.

Seems about the same as the last couple betas. 1-3 was TERRIBLE. Around 4 it started getting a lot better.

What I did

1) connect the iPhone to iTunes and then select the check button "Manually manage my music and videos"

2) and then delete all the playlist

3) resync again

voila it worked. long time iPod/iTunes user, but still had struggle to figure out what is going on... may be it just the looong weekend
