Settle Down Tigers...

OMG, apple unveils some fantastic new products, and it seems the majority of people can only find things to critisize.

We have completely unrealistic expectations for apple.

They are, imo, the most innovative company in their field, and produce the best, most usable products of any electronics i've ever used.

I understand some people's disappointment with the 16gb limit on the iPod touch - but this is why they have kept the classic with more storage.

For god's sake - stop being so negative peoples!!

I am extremely grateful for the release of the touch, as i live in australia, and it will still be some time before we get the iPhone here.

Thankyou apple, for another fantastic evolution of your products

I love the iPod touch however my biggest problem (and why I probably might have to settle for a iPod Nano) is that this thing is damn hard to control in your pocket. I mean I can still pause skip if a Nano is in my pocket, but for the Touch I would need to constantly remove it from my pocket. Unless Apple develops a nice remote (not the Radio one they have now), I guess I'm stuck with a Nano...:(
If it has anything like the ear buds that come with the iPhone then it has a small inline remote that allows you to skip and/or pause.

Was it me or did it seem like Steve had someone in the audience as his personal Woo-er, pretty much everything he said he got a woo off the same person!
I'll bet it was this guy. He was on camera straightening his clothes after the event ended, probably a result of all that jumping up and down and whooping and hollering.

I can't seem to watch the video, it just keeps saying "switching transports". Anyone know what's going on?

The iPhone was priced incorrectly. Apple even admitted this in their last conference call, when they said they were making unexpectedly high margins on the iPhone because they underestimated how cheap NAND flash would become when they priced the iPhone.

Also, what's the song played during the "incomplete" iPod touch commercial?

Just spoke with the apple sales chat, the ipod touch, does INDEED have the same recessed headphone jack as the iphone, but the nano does not.

That sucks so much. Now we are forced to use those awful standard headphones or must fork out extra money to buy a special adapter.

I guess another option would be to "drill" a wider hole to fit other jacks as I haver heard people do on their iPhones.

I posted a message on this board, and I noticed that it got deleted today. Wondered why? I also noticed that some of my other posts on other places been deleted. So is the moderator practicing censorship here. There was nothing wrong with the message that I posted here. Hmmm.... :-(

I am somewhat upset about the price drop. Back in the day, if you owned an Apple product, you were considered well off. The reason why I paid $599.00 for an iPhone is because Apple has always kept the same prices for a long time (never in a million years thought that they would drop almost half the price in a 2 month period, I thought at least 1-2 years). The MacBook Pros and MacBooks have been the same price for quite a while now. Ever since the iPod started selling more, Apple keeps lowering their prices on pretty much everything.
I always compared Apple to Mercedes and Microsoft to Toyotas (example, don't gang up on me now lol). If you buy an Apple computer, it will not depreciate as if you were buying a Windows machine. If Apple does not keep their prices steady, it will become another Microsoft.

Just my opinion...

How will lowering prices make Apple like Microsoft? Does Microsoft lower the price of Windows and Office often? Does Microsoft sell computers or phones? We know they have an music player that DOESN'T sell.

Your statement makes little sense...not even .02.

And Toyotas have higher resell than Mercedes...so that doesn't fly either.

When you speak of depreciation, please realize that computers and gadgets aren't investments, they are tools and toys. So if you paid $599 for an iPhone because you didn't expect the price to change?

Im totally lost with 99% of your post.

AGAIN, the Toyota and Mercedes "example" was in terms of the quality of a product, not resale value.
A Mercedes is a higher end car (luxury) that's what I meant.

When I said Microsoft I meant resale value of their products. Most computers equiped with Windows, automatically lose its value once it is out of the store. Apple products however do not because Apple has a tendency of keeping their prices steady and for providing a higher quality products.

Like I mentioned before, those were examples not to be followed literally...

Was it that hard to understand? If it was, my bad.

<snip>

Let me guess, you think the common man shouldn't be able to afford an iPhone. Well, if you want to feel special because you own things others can't afford, there are many, many other companies out there that will gladly take your money. Here, here and here.

Anyone know the name of the song during the iPod Touch ad?

The song during the "incomplete" iPod Touch ad?

Sounds like a great cut to me...

While I'm at it, where is the iTunes update promised for "tonight?"

Wouldn't it have made more sense to not release an iPod Classic and just have an iPod Touch with a hard drive? If I had a 160GB iPod I'd want to stock it full of movies, but I'd want to watch them on the iPod touch's screen. It's a shame customers have to choose between great functionality and storage space.
