Wouldn't it have made more sense to not release an iPod Classic and just have an iPod Touch with a hard drive? If I had a 160GB iPod I'd want to stock it full of movies, but I'd want to watch them on the iPod touch's screen. It's a shame customers have to choose between great functionality and storage space.

I so agree with you, I was also hoping to see the iPod Touch with a hard drive. 16GB is a very poor performance, I would hardly stuff 1/10 of my record collection (yeah, I'm old skool, I like CDs and I just upload them into iTunes), my photos and videos. I'm not going to buy it now.

I guess we'll have to wait another year before Apple decide to merge the 160GB Classic with the sexy looking Touch... but before that happens they might first come up with an upgrade of the iPod Touch with maybe 32GB Flash memory. Who knows...

...and for those who bitch about the price drop of the iPhone, they just got to understand this is part of the game. I guess for us european it's a good news...

Does anyone know if it's possible to download this, instead of streaming it? I don't have internet at home at the moment (working on it :) ) and I have to do my internet things at the university, so I would love to download it and watch it at home. Is there a way?

What I don't understand with a good majority of the comments on this forum is they are trying to align the iPod touch to the tradition iPod collection..... its a new product its not the iPod in its tradition functionality or how we know it.... we are in a production transition phase to a touch interface..... if Apple abandoned the click-wheel for touch we would all cry out... if Apple were Microsoft they would release touch with 2GB of flash and 40GB hard drive which would compromise performance and freeze up more times than we'd like..... the iPod touch is not an iPod... its an internet device for streaming content... youTube, web, radio etc. this is the future... storing files on local hard-drives is not the way we are heading... ask any 16 year old... where are their photos ? on their iPod ? NO there on Facebook iBucket, Flkr etc. - how do they communicate ? via hotmail, gmail etc. ? no through social networking websites and the like...... the iPod touch is so far ahead of its time its not funny but its not an iPod in the traditional sense of the word – storing music files etc. – it’s a lifestyle device. If you are a DJ and need to bring your 100GB of music with you and video and steaming is not a big thing then the classic is for you..... the touch is for the new generation of people not for iPod users of today....... I wonder if PSP users complain that they can't download all 150 games to their PSP unit and take it with them ? :p

The iPod touch doesn't even have a camera. Too little memory, too expensive. At least the camera would do.

Completely agree. Had my credit card in hand ready to buy the iPod touch but soon as I saw that it only had max 16 gigs of memory it went right back in my wallet. I can understand 16 gigs for portability but for the flagship model who now days has less then 16 gigs of media. Realy. Guess the 14 bucks i spent on my 3G bat upgrade a month ago was a good purchase. Also, anybody notice apple still hasn't added bluetooth...Whats up with that.

If it has anything like the ear buds that come with the iPhone then it has a small inline remote that allows you to skip and/or pause.

It looks to me that the iPod Touch uses normal Earphones (from the pictures I've seen). Kinda unfortunate...

They couldn't fit more storage to the device, since flash-chips are limited to 8GB (iirc) at the moment, and they have very limited space for those chips in the device. And HD was never really an option, it would totally kill the battery-life. And why would I want to have a camera in my mp3-player?

You guys need to be realistic here.

What I want to know is it possible to write emails using webmail. And can you add contacts. If that is the case sign me up it is the best things since they released the original ipod.

I think the biggest problem with the Touch is that people are expecting it to be the iPhone minus the phone capabilities. ITS NOT!!! It's an iPod and that's its foremost function. WHAT Mp3 player on the market has a camera? None. What Mp3 player on the market has a touch screen with internet capabilities, etc? The iPod Touch! It's SOO far ahead of the game that it's not even funny! It's a great iPod. They crammed as much memory as possible into that guy too, so for now that's all that it gets without being 2 inches thick, having no battery life, and costing 1000 bucks. Can you imagine an iPod Touch with 160GB HD at this point? When the Classic costs 349, you can easily imagine 600-800 for an iPod with touch technology AND a 160GB drive. It's not economical just yet...let the flash market catch up a bit.

Now...to my point about the Classic. I saw somewhere that Steve said in a smaller meeting later that they kept the Classic because there is a percentage of people who would rather have a large capacity, standard iPod in their pocket. I agree, GO STEVE! I am a happy owner of the iPhone, and I think the iPhone has more than enough storage at 8GB for daily use. But I'm probably going to go buy a Classic (to replace my old 5G iPod) just because sometimes on trips and such, I'd like to have a ton of storage and listen to all my songs. So, I have no reason to buy an iPod Touch, although it's awesome and many people will buy them and love them. These are just a FEW of the reasons Apple kept the Classic and added the Touch. I think we should trust that Apple has sat down and done their homework, and give them a little credit. There are 4 iPod's now in many different colors, so there is something for every person, with every budget. Buy the one that works for you, and you'll be happy, but don't cry about the other models that you don't like as much, or the features you wanted your model to have. Nothing is going to satisfy EVERY person, ALL the time.

bluetooth??

According to Gismodo it might even be there. They found a photo the German apple webside which show the bluetooth symbol. Now wouldn't that be nice. I must say I am very tempted...

Has Apple lost it?

None of these designs appeal to me aesthetically. Same goes for the recent hideous iMac redesign. I won't be investing.

The golden age of Apple design is most definitely over.

Can you please explain more please....? Im confused. With the exception of the new and ugly "imo" ipod nano, i think everything apple has made is flawless looking. Amazing engienereing.

PERSONALLY.....I think the ipod touch will evolve into an ipod PDA personally, with all the features of the iphone, (except for the phone part of course)...but just wait, more PDA type apps will come out for the touch.

I wonder...

...if part of the decision, for apple to not include wifi and touch screen with a hard drive, was battery life and size issues.

Haven't heard anyone mention that, so I thought i'd bring that in to the mix.

Well it seems like apple is giving themselves plenty of room to grow - by hopefully consolidating ipod features into a more killer device in the future. Especially as technology gets smaller and more power efficient.

Its good that apple put the antenna on the top - stupid that it is on the bottom with the iphone as my phone (cellular) reception noticeably drops when i hold it like normal phone and cover the antenna with my hand.:(:(

Obviously, your opinions (and everyone else's) are completely subjective, and there will be many people that disagree with you.

I happen to be one of them.

However, Apple didn't just stop investing in world-class product design overnight. They put countless hours into developing the new designs. While this is the point you're arguing, history has shown that Apple's "wild and crazy" designs will become accepted, and emulated in 6 months time.

I doubt that these products will change that track record.

My opinion.. just for ranting purposes. Ignore me. Probably already touched on.

The new ipod touch is a joke. Slick features, but only 16GB for 399??? Forget it. Cool features and all, but my 80GB is too small. How am I supposed to upgrade with only 16GB?

And if they were smart, they’d release an iphone WITHOUT the ipod feature for $199 or $299 and watch how many they’d sell. This is the reason I won't buy an iphone - I don't need a phone with an 8GB flash drive. I'll never use it. It's a waste to me.

Instead, they release an iphone without the phone feature with only 16GB for 399.. I’m disappointed. I feel Apple missed the boat on this one.

OK. I’ll stop ranting now.

Don't right click and save as---will not work. Make sure to open it in another window in the browser and just let it load and when it's done, just save it anywhere from the browser.

I hope that/wonder if Apple will release the live KT Tunstall performance through the iTunes Store. I wasn't expecting to, but I enjoyed it.

If you order her second album, "Drastic Fantastic," be aware that they are selling two versions: a regular version for $9.99 and a Deluxe version with videos for $14.99. Only the Deluxe version is featured on the iTunes Store main "Music" page, so some people will fail to notice the link to the regular album version hiding under the Album Notes.

Hey im not sure if anyone has mentioned this, but... Can I view the event on my iphone? It doesnt seem to work and Im away from internet out on a family trip. This is aggravating. :-/
